    Some notes to go along with your video: Italy's lowercase "i" logo used in the 90's was actually created by Patrizia Pattacini who won a contest with her design. I'm a big collector of Italy kits, and Rob is right on when he says that the Puma game day kits are far superior in design and feel to the replicas Puma made throughout their entire run with Italy. When I saw Rob's 2006 design I really thought it was revolutionary; with bonded seams, reverse neck, and all badges & logos were a very thin material that was heat pressed on.
    The 2006 replica shirt was sold with a knitted fabric after Italy won the World Cup. So if you want that style shirt with the knitted fabric just look for the version with the 4 star badge (It's much more comfortable to wear). Also nike was the last company to make replica kits that were much closer to the player versions (maybe because they were made in the UK?), especially when compared to later brands.

    The first one is the kit they were wearing at Euro 96, oddly enough the replica kit (which I bought at the time) had the Nike logo on it whilst the actual kit worn by the players didn't. Also, no.9 was Moreno Torricelli.

    • @JoeLanza80
      @JoeLanza80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No Italy game day kit had a manufacture's logo on it until 1999. Apparently there was some old rule that prevented it. Of course the replicas could carry it, which is why you see it there. This makes it easier to spot a replica from a "player issue" on any kit before 1999.

    • @alexjohnson9535
      @alexjohnson9535 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeLanza80 that's right. I remember the Kappa logo on the sleeves of that ultra-tight game kit at Euro 2000, although still no kit manufacturer logo on their chest until after the 2002 World Cup if I remember correctly.

    • @JoeLanza80
      @JoeLanza80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alexjohnson9535 Sorry to correct you again, but the 1999 Kappa kit has the manufacture’s logo on the chest. It was kappa’s lesser known, but first kit for Italy, used for the Euro 2000 qualifiers.

    • @alexjohnson9535
      @alexjohnson9535 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeLanza80 blimey, I totally forgot about that one. I wonder why they have then removed the Kappa logo from the chest for the actual tournament kit.

    • @JoeLanza80
      @JoeLanza80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexjohnson9535 I'm guessing it was just a design choice. Many of Kappa's other kits from the mid to late 90's featured just the single logo on the left chest. It wasn't until 2000 that Kappa used the repeating logo on the sleeves for pretty much all the kits they designed.

    The Ultraweave is an amazing shirt, but you've hit the nail on the head when it comes to the clinging when sweat is involved. After wearing it all day in summer, it nearly becomes impossible to take off and hence I only wear it with a base layer. Surprised the evoknit kit didn't get a run but that's Puma for you recently, been thru so many different fabrics and woven techniques over the last 5 years to now get to this wonder piece of tech. It also looks like with the club releases now that printing won't be an issue, although I wonder how much weight that would add (probably irrelevant knowing the base weight).
    Great video again gents can't wait to see what you've got instore next.

    • @TheKitBreakdown
      @TheKitBreakdown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's interesting to know, as we haven't really had feedback from any wearers yet! Subside have found that the Italy shirt is 100g with the badges etc, so that's a fair bit higher than the 72g shirt. However that's still incredibly light!

    Great video guys, and please accept my apologies once again for my misinformed comment on your previous video about the Italy memorabilia shirt. I did enjoy this video very much, and it's really interesting to see the massive difference between the matchday shirts and the replicas. I've seen the WC 2006 matchday shirt and it is gorgeous, the replica just looks like a completely different shirt entirely. I do really like the new Italy shirt though, and it's good to know that the quality of design is right up there too. I'd love to get my hands on one. But getting good merch to South Africa can be tricky and expensive haha.
    Anyway, thanks again, and stay safe!

    • @TheKitBreakdown

      No need to apologise Aldo, glad you enjoyed the video! Some of the replica shirts really are different from the match versions, and I think a lot of people will be quite surprised that this isn't a new phenomenon!

      @robwarnerSDA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Please, don't apologise. You made a good point that we'd not explained the context properly and we learned something from that too. We're still pretty new to this stuff! I dread to think what the import duties might be like to ZA for a shirt like that but I hope you're able to get one. It's truly an incredible piece of design and engineering.

    • @TheKitBreakdown
      @TheKitBreakdown  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was worn in a one or two games post Euros, but was just an Ultraweave technology version of the 2020 kit, so as you say, was very similar to the previous. They then released the new kit for the next year not long after, so it wasn’t seen many times!
      The new technology is what impressed the guys the most about the shirt though, and that tech has now been rolled out across a fair few of the clubs as well as that quartered design. Thanks for watching! 🙌

      No that is not true. If you go to the Museo Del Calcio in Florence they have the entire team's kits from the 2006 final, and if you look at the neck label you will see they were made in Thailand. Also, I have a game day/player issue Italy 2006 shirt that I purchased from the FIGC store, and it's made in Thailand. I purchased it in 2006 when they were selling off their stock of shirts that had 3 stars on the crest.
