@SLIGHT_ probably for aesthetics but yes they work better the way I suggested because they are above the grips and you can see alot better

@SLIGHT_ 100%. Here in Australia they come standard they way I suggested so they are practical.
Every review I've seen says this bike goes like hell.
There are faster bikes out there for sure. But this does the trick for sure. If you have a chance take one for a rip.

Awesome!!! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you put some mileage on it.
With the mods, to each their own. I kept the forwards and went with a bar riser, 40mm up and 25mm back (it takes the arc out of the back with the forwards and only costs $50 while the reach bars take away from the bulldog look of the bike). The cowl on the light looks like puss, the HD screen is cleaner and meaner. The underslung mirrors were a bad mod. The stock seat never had me feeling secure on the bike so I went with the Corbin Gunfighter which holds you in tight against the torque. As far as riding it, you were spot on, it is not your Grandads Harley.
Never really liked forwards…,yet that’s a personal preference thing I guess. I’m sure if they did mids from stock people would complain they didn’t have forwards lol.
Yeah those mirrors were so bad. Not a fan of them at all. Interesting take on the riser option… I’m sure that would work similar, great suggestion. The cowl I’m not sure on. The pill lamp I hated when they first went to market… yet it grew on me in time.
Does the gunfighter seat raise the seat higher? I appreciate your feedback.
@@SLIGHT_ It definitely does not raise you higher. The seat has a four inch back to it that compensates for the design flaws honestly. It holds you in tight and puts you in control of the bike rather than the design of the bike being in control of you. The bike has tight rear suspension and you will leave the seat on a pothole. The Corbin Gunfighter seat is confidence inspiring and allows you to use every measure of that torque without needing to hold back.
I purchased the bike on spec two days after they announced it and I already knew that a riser, screen and new seat was needed before I put money down. That is actually all it needed. The bike is a street bike, not a cruiser as everyone keeps calling it, it just has foot forwards as standard. It is a great everyday bike man. You feel cool, you look cool and you have the power to back up the image.
@@MrEiniweini definitely on the list of possible upgrades. I love when people call it a cruiser lol. Nothing even close to a cruiser… more naked then anything.
I'm a granddad, and I like it. It's a cool redesign of the Sportster. Definitely better than the previous design, that carried on for so long. Are you implying that the bike is only for younger kids? Careful now.
@@whitehorse1 lol no, not at all. Just the typical thought people think of when you say HD…. The “grandfathers HD” typical idea. This is nothing like the typical HD. IMO of course
The mirrors are not installed properly.
Yes most of the time they’re above the bar. This one they set it to below… silly imo.
Is this bike good for a short rider ?

Are you comfortable on one foot?
I’m 5’6” and can touch both toes (not flat footed) yet I almost never have both feet down. So this was easy to ride in that case. I suggest you put a leg over one and see what you think. (Mids would be a must as I’m sure the added stretch to the forwards would be difficult)

Never really like mirrors like that I feel like my arms are in the way. I go in to neutral every now and again.

Hope they fixed all the issues of the 21 and 22 models mine has been nothing but head aches and trips back to the dealer ship, check engine light after check engines light, starting issues, engine power loss while driving and lots of TH-camrs are having the same issue but Harley acts like it’s not a problem and have been a nightmare to work with
I’ve heard this as well. Shame as this is a beast to ride.
Hopefully it’s just the typical new year new model issues. Happens to the best of them Right?
I mean what do you expect from a completely new model ? Warranty is there, hopefully it's only a toy for you and not a daily.
@@alexv5581 was supposed to be a daily but I have other motorcycles for that just in case

The planned trip included a highway pull… yet he decided to bow out.

It would have been Epic to see the SportsterS hold its own with the Diavel, and I think it would have 👍🇺🇸
The problem with the Sportster S is no one wants one.
Personally I love it. Just wouldn’t be an only bike… and that’s way too expensive as a second bike for me.

Agree. I chose a regular old sportster over it as my first bike. Price and looks pushed me to the 1200
Pick up my Sportster S next week. My first Harley, been a sport naked bike guy, I’m getting the tail tidy and a TBS exhaust on it. Never been a Harley guy but this bike I love it

How is it compared to riding the rebel?
Oh I love my rebel… Yet this bike is much more fun. This is more in line to an MT09… not really the style of bike I could daily on… one hell of a toy though.
@@SLIGHT_ 3 months later and I find myself back to this video review. I love my Rebel 500, I really do, but I THINK it's time for an upgrade! I need to test ride one of these bad boys asap! Will keep you posted!
