    Albanians are one of the oldest people in Europe. They orginates from the anicent illyrians. And the Albanian language is a unique language and it has its own branch in the indo-European family language tree. Albanian language is very old and i do not relate to any other languages!

    Although I'm from Croatia, I've never been in Albania proper, except some over the border hiking in Prokletije mountains from Montenegro. In Google Earth I already have so many pinned places to visit in Albania, and now thanks to you Berat is pinned as well, while from before I've had that mountain already pinned, it is Tomorr mountain en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Tomorr Berat looks really nice!

Many parts of albania are beautiful such a Shkodra, Dhermi,Sarand,Ksamil & more. Hotels are super cheap due to the low economy & wages. You should totally visit.

    Hey Gabriel, I found out travel websites such as expedia uses cookies to record what flight we searched for last time you logged in and tries to increase the price to make you think the prices are rising and creates a compulsion to buy quickly. So, everyone out there, please clean/delete cookies from your browser before you use the website again. I found there was a significant difference in price when you delete your cookies. Since, your channel is for budget travel, I thought this is a good tip to share. Please, spread the word.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos

    • @dieterfischer3432
      @dieterfischer3432 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For some reason my flights are always getting way more expensive. I use incognito mode and delete my cookies. I just don't get it. And when I see an amazing price I always waited for two days or so to think about it. And when I want to book the flights the prices are always at least 50 % higher. But for my next flight I will book the flight straight when I see a good price.

      I use Kayak app or the site. Its the best search site for cheap fares. Also, one of the great features is it shows you the cheaper fares. With kayak, you can see the same fare directly from the airlines and I usually try to book directly from the airline as i've been screwed 4 times by cheapoair.com

    I wonder if the reason the last few places don't seem so busy is due to locals being on holiday as well? I seem to recall being told to avoid the temptation to visit Europe during Summer because the locals also go on vacation. Obviously bigger cities should have a good tourism infrastructure for those months, but I'm just wondering if this is the case in smaller places.
    Anyway, I've really enjoyed watching this trip!

    • @besniktroka8608
      @besniktroka8608 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope , its about the temperatures. in the morning is fresh and usualy people go shoping (every day ,not a bunch of stuff once a week). midday pause and after 17:00 people move and start socialize and so on , and those ruins near the university are a burocratic bug , cant get rid of them easly , not enough funds too.

      Wtf you saying Aleks Kevyn (which most likely is your westernised name, your real name surely is a slavic one). If Greece is a western country, which lies southeast of Albania than it definitely makes Albania middle of Europe.

    • @helloween0116
      @helloween0116 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The edge of Europe as you said is in Grece/Bulgaria/Turkey -Bosphorus channel which is a few hundred km from Albania,so far from it, Albania is firmly within Europian continent. Greece on the other hand, together with Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria,Malta,Spain,Portugal,UK,Ireland,Iceland,Norway,part of Russia,Armenia and Georgia are the edges of Europe. Learn some geography and history and you will learn that most of the Balkan peninsula has been for a thousand years part of the East Roman Empire and then for 500 years part of the Ottoman Empire so culturally is more or less the same from parts of Hungary/Romania down to Greece and Cyprus.Have you ever been to London or Paris? There are far more muslims living in those cities than in the whole of Albania. I guess it makes them culturally not europian also.And one more history lesson for you, it was the Albanian prince Skanderbeg who protected christian Europe from the Ottoman empire for a quarter of a century and the pope gave him the title Athleta Christi. And last but not least, have you ever visited Albania? I doubt it.

      Or you can simply ask the israelis to stamp on a seperate paper not included in your passport, that's what many tourists do to be able to visit Lebanon after having visited Israel.

      Aleks Kevyn : get a life dude !!!

    • @martinchour8694
      @martinchour8694 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there is like a seperate sheet. When you arrive to Ben Gorion airport, you can simply ask the israelis policemen not to stamp on your passport but to stamp on a seperate sheet. They are used to that, because many countries in the middle east dont let you get into their territories if you have an israeli stamp on your passport. My french friends did that, they visited israel, got that stamp on a seperate page and they joined me afterwards in Lebanon without any problem.

    Berat is a UNESCO world heritage site because so much of it’s medieval parts have remained intact. It was called White City (Beograd) by the Bulgarians when they occupied it during the Byzantine period. The University is an amazing building on the outside, though when I was there last, it still needed quite a bit of work on the inside.

      I've seen too many castles myself, but Berat's castle is something else. The mini village inside it, still inhabited, the peace and quiet, and above all, the views! I actually went there a second time just to climb up on one of the towers and just sit there for two hours straight, admiring the views, relaxing, thinking,... That place is the number one reason for me to return there. I would go and live there if possible!

    I was born in this city. It's clean, peaceful, and full of history. It does look kinda deserted though...haha. I was there July 2016 and I remember it being a lot busier. A lot of locals do leave Berat in the summer months to vacation on Albania's southern Riviera. Hope you enjoyed dude!

    Just for info, ALBANIAN LANGUAGE IS THE BASIC LANGUAGE.FOR ALL OTHER EUROPIAN ONES...
    WE HAVE 36 LETTERS...and our language is the most reach one.
    Greek and latin languages are dialects of the albanian language.
    Please read more abot this.

      Andi and
      olta is not embarrassing anyone. I think you just misinterpreted on what she wanted to say, because it appears that she doesn't type very well in English.
      So i will try to clarify for you:
      1. The Albanian language retains many ancient Latin words which are not found in any of the modern Latin based languages of today.
      2. The Albanian language also has ancient Hellenic words which are not found in the modern Greek language.
      3. Many of the terms and translations of ancient toponyms and hydronyms across the balkans including Greece, are translated using ONLY the Albanian language.

      Parthenon is dedicated to goddess Athena. Athena in ancient greek mythology was a virgin. Parthenon is dedicated to her. This is why it's called the house of the virgin. Also there is no ancient greek word that a modern greek speaker cannot understand. Your country has a rich history. Try to make it more famous instead of stealing other countries' history

    Wrong about religion. The 2011 census of the religions of Albania is wrong, it as poorly made and they didn’t reach out to the people very well. The actual religion confirmed by the state of Albania in 2016 is 50% Christian, 30% and 20% non religious or atheist.

      Yes, to some extent but you always figure it out. Lots of people speak English. Otherwise it would be much more difficult to get around. But otherwise, if interacting with someone who doesn't speak English, you figure it out one way or another....or find someone who does speak English.

I bet originally there were no stones, but instead it was a channel for rain runoff etc. Again looks like you have the city to yourself! Lol wow 8 euros for that meal!
