    I visited Kotor a few days after Gabe did. Other than the stunning scenes, what really amazed me was the sheer number of cats that stroll freely around the streets, and which are also super friendly! We had cats who literally followed us around wanting to be cuddled :) so definitely visit Kotor if you're a cat person!

    Kotor is an absolute gem in Montenegro. My family is from Montenegro, and I was born their, Kotor is my favorite place to visit when I go back on vacation. Walking through the Stari Grad (old city) is like walking through a time capsule. Its venetian architecture, old classic styles churches, its nestled right in between two large mountains, the bay is absolutely majestic. Its a really special place to be, and I highly recommend visiting Kotor if you happen to be visiting montenegro.

    Man, I love your work, it's great to have all the necessary advices needed for traveling, especially if you are coming from Montenegro, like I do. Of course Kotor is worth visiting, it's not like it doesn't have so much history, stunning beauty and very (to say the least) interesting locals. Maybe because I am local I have that bias approach, but Kotor was and always will be one of my favorite places, especially if you go after a night out in the night club in the old town, and sit and chill on the sea shore, overlooking steep mountains with a lovely sunset. You should visit Njeguši, Cetinje, Skadar lake, Ada Bojana and many more places. We have one of the most beautiful countries in the world, but we don't respect and appreciate it as much as we should!
    Greetings from Bar!

    from 2001 to 2012 because of the job i have working on a cruise ship. I get to visit this place 3x a year in summer. This is one of my favorite country in Adriatic sea. You should have tried the pizza inside the old town they sell only pizza and it so good for 2 euro or less. If your saving cash try their burger at the small stall outside it is also big and worth it. the water is always clear and safe to swim in much like every part of Croatia my first favorite place along the Adriatic sea.

    I only put my wife's phone on international when I went to kotor. I lost my group and had to find my way with a map because my phone was useless. Never found my group in kotor, but definitely saw some cool stuff. There was a lady singing rather angelically outside the oldest church. It was a diaphanous experience.

A few come to mind that I've met in the past year, but it's definitely not common. Hitchhiking isn't all that common in general, and more often it's men or a man and woman. Looking forward to seeing the beach in the morning. I just passed through Tirana but was glad I was passing through, it didn't look that interesting, though I'm sure there's some thing to see. I developed plantar fiscitis the last 6 months been hell some mornings, I would really like to walk up those stairs I hope my feet can function for the hard trek ;>) Love me some ruins! Trying to enter Montenegro tomorrow, was told no covid test needed by a few locals. Let's hope that is true if not will have to return to Albania test and go back. Really excited for some new treks. Cheers!

    Of course it's busy, it's summer season it's quite common knowledge that the cruise ships invade Kotor in summer.
    Did you walk back down the way you came or the way? with the winding road down plus plenty of sheep (one of which I saw chasing and head butting an Asian tourist when I was there haha.)

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I walked down the same way. Now that you mention it, I remember another path going down to the right, but I wasn't sure if it would get me back to the old town or not.

    Kotor is Königsberg in the south, the people who built it now have almost disappeared from it. Very sad.

    Love your vids Gabriel , quick question , I’m going on a cruise next year ( same cruise line you show here) where is the entrance to the walls? To the left of right coming out of the cruise ship ? And how far ? Thank you

    • @stefanstankovic4781
      @stefanstankovic4781 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can go both to the right (through the main town gate, and then through the town itself), or to the left (along the river, and enter through the north gate). I the trail starts uphill behind this church:

      P.S. Choose some footwear that's a bit more comfortable than Gabriel's, like sports/hiking shoes or sturdy sandals. Have fun! :)

    How to trek a treacherous Medieval village unprepared. Kinda a 20's thing. "Stepped on a pop top, blew out a pop top". Then didn't replace it. I will say... This millennial is losing his smart phone, not seeing the world through a false virtual reality technology skewed lens. Hats off to you world traveler! Experiencing life as real as it gets. Never lose your thirst for true adventure.

    With which bus company you went to Montenegro from Dubrovnik? When I was checking it some months ago there weren't any busses going from Dubrovnik to Montenegro. I also have already been to Montenegro and drove by car from Dubrovnik Airport to MOnenegro and the traffic at the border was crazy.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't remember the name of the bus company. I bought the ticket at the bus station in Dubrovnik. But it was a direct bus to Kotor. And yes the traffic at the border was crazy.

      That's good to hear. It's essentially my only camera now. I don't like the Canon that I bought before I started this trip, and my GoPro mysteriously died.

    • @MarkoZutic
      @MarkoZutic 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      quality is nice on the daylight, wide angle is good for paning and handheld as its not shakey as other narrow cameras can be, and it also emerges you more into the place. maybe you can do a bit of B roll with some zoom camera and just for the sake of it but this is really good

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it doesn't do so good in low lighting but is very crisp in the strong sunlight. I definitely need to get a better camera now though that does everything well. The Iconntechs camera doesn't zoom, looks crappy at night and I feel overall looks a bit flat, doesn't fully capture things with enough depth. But especially for the price it's a great camera. And it's really tiny so it's good for filming discretely.

    Beautiful ..the mind boggles how the ancient people built these things , you look at the pre fab weak concrete condos nowdays that last just a few years compared to carved stone they hauled uphill on donkeys millenia ago and think thats real construction ..built to last. What a view.
