Michael Romeo should be doing soundtrack work for Hollywood. It's cool enough when a Progressive Metal band interprets a classical or baroque piece... But, to have a symphony interpret a tune by a Progressive Metal band... Now we are getting into truly epic territory. This is sheer and utter brilliance.
How about... absolutely brilliant. you did service to one of the best songs ever written. thanks ? I can't argue with that comment, it's an epic orchestral arrangement, as is The Odyssey album.
oh my god! I was so waiting for this! An orchestra ripping of a conver of this song! Astonishing arrangement and well played! I really liked the replacement of guitar by violin. I guess it would have been too hard to mess with the guitar artistry of Romeo, so to take a different approach was just perfect. I hope that some day SymX will make a live recording with orchestra. I love their songs, but it is different if real people play the orchestra part. You guys are the proof. Amazing! Keep rockin!
A lot of this reminds me of Star wars. There are actually quite a few parts that are almost identical in the OG star wars trilogy. Then again that's not at all strange considering Michael Romeo made a 'Star wars suite' instrumental. It's awesome!
Wow! Excellent transcription and arrangement, and a fantastic performance as well! Loved the strings playing the melody part of Champion of Ithaca. Just wonderful!
That’s everything I could’ve wanted to be a part of or want to incorporate from learning in concert band. I miss being a part of a group that enjoys what they do. Wonderful job.
Brilliant I’m upset I’m just now seeing this I wish I was front row to give you all standing applause. (Even if the individual in the front was slightly weirding me out hahaha)
I pray one day symphony x plays live with an orchestra
Triumphant Champion of Ithacaaaaaaa!
Champion of Europe ,haha !

no song is the "best song ever written"
@@coconejococonejo except this one
@@coconejococonejo sorry man, but I rather agree with the actual comment xD
@@smithers38 Doesn't mean it's true what he said.

"arrangement Ben Mathot" - he's the violinist in Ayreon :D
your video has been shared by Symphony X themselves!
Has Michael Romeo from Symphony X heard this? I am sure he would be impressed.
Excellent! My favorite part starts at 3:52. You get the feeling that it is the moment he first spots home after all those years.
I've been waiting to hear an actual orchestra play this masterpiece and im not disappointed! Great job!
