    I’ve been preaching your mantras ever since I started watching your channel however many years ago that was now.
    1. Keep it in play off the tee
    2. Be tidy within 100 yards
    3. No three putts
    These alone can pretty much guarantee a mid 80s score which keeps me and my handicap happy. Thanks for the advice over the years, it’s really helpful and makes golf more fun

    I cant be the only one that couldnt care less about my score most rounds? As long as i smash a couple drives, flush a few irons, get a handful of decent up and downs and maybe 1-2 long range puts ive had the best day of my life.

  • @rtotheizzle
    @rtotheizzle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    not gonna lie, this really sums up why people shouldn't care so much about scores. Unless you are a kid working towards becoming a pro golfer, golfing is just about having fun. Going for stupid shots that have a low chance of working out but are awesome if they do work out is what's the most fun. It's just that people get so wrapped up in their scores that they rob themselves of the joy of just getting out there and having fun.

    Love your videos and your overall approach to the game. But please stop calling it boring golf. Making par is anything but boring; so is a well struck iron or a well executed bump and run. These shots for the average golfer are spectacular.

    yeah, not boring at all. You make it look so easy...but I know this is the hardest to pull off. I honestly feel like your putting is Tour level. Beautiful round on a gorgeous day. This is great golf in it's purest form.

    My golf game is starting to become this right here. Comfortable easy shots using more club and getting myself in good scoring position. So much so I've whacked 20 shots off my average in the last 2 months alone.

      @@tonybevilsizer2331 thank you. I think the biggest change has been trying not to hit the distance. I'm too focused on trying to get my seven iron 170 yards because that's what everyone else seems to do.

    Hey Adam. Do you have a list of course recommendations for Palm Springs?

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! So, so many courses out there to choose from. I think my favorite public tracks are Desert Willow (Firecliff), Classic Club, SilverRock, Shadow Ridge, and the Pete Dye Mountain Course at PGA West. Hidden gems include Eagle Falls and Terra Lago (either course). In Palm Springs proper, I like Escena and Indian Canyons (either course).

    Great video Adam! I discovered Desert Island when I was in Palm Desert last year-what a wonderful course. It was entertaining to see you having some of the same misses and shots I had! The line over that palm tree on 17 is daunting, but the way to go. I truly believe learning from your approach to course management was a huge factor in me lowering my handicap to 12 over the past year. Keep the great content coming!

    I enjoy the content. I don’t agree with playing shorter tees as a single digit handicap. If that’s what you like go for it, but why bother keeping a handicap if you are making it easier on yourself.
    When we were kids we would play basketball on an 8ft hoop to dunk. Or we would play home run derby from 2nd base so we could hit it over the fence. We got to feel like pros even though we weren’t.
    But when we grew up we played like adults.
    Why is golf different?
    So we can feel better dunking on the 8ft hoop?

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I try to play golf at whatever length allows me to have the most fun, which means having a variety of shots into greens. If I tee it up at 7,000+, I'll find myself hitting hybrids and 3 woods into most holes. Not particularly fun for me. But to each his own!

  • @TMar1961
    @TMar1961 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm going to add that most should play from 6000-6200 yards and not 6500, it's long enough and challenging enough to be fun and competitive.

  • @tubopedia

    Do you ever feel like you have hit the law of diminishing returns of working on your short game? Your short game is so good I feel like you would benefit more from a bit of grinding on that 140-190 shot. But even then, you still make great contact regardless of the mechanics so maybe I'm completely wrong. Love the vids, curious if this ever crosses your mind. I know your anti grinding on your swing.

    • @NotAScratchGolfer
      @NotAScratchGolfer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! In fact, coach Gordon jokes that every time my index dips into the 5s, that I'm probably exceeding the upper boundary of my golf swing. It may sound strange, but I'm happy playing this game, even if I've reached the ceiling of my potential with the swing I have.

    That's how I play Golf. Take my medicine on the bad shots and just forget about it and concentrate on the next shot. Short game is the best part of my game, so can keep my scores in a very happy place. I am more than happy shooting 80 to 85.
