Your videos are a must-watch for amateurs. Decision making and staying in the game are acquired skills. I could knock ten shots off a lot of peoples games just by convincing them to not try certain silly shots or to pick the right club. Great stuff Adam!!
Thank you! And agreed - so many high cappers would benefit from following the mantra, "no stupid shots after bad shots."
Love the “Hold the Finish” on the chunked chip. Gotta remember to use that one.
I love saying this, too.
Dude, I love how you quoted Moe Norman!!!
Cheers
man, i cant wait to head back home in phoenix for the amazing golf during the holidays. always enjoy these videos for the scenery.
Thanks! Where do you like to play in Phoenix!
Love Silver Rock.
Great view at this course 😮.
The killer for most players is ambition over ability.
Trying to hit a long drive rather than a straight one .
Trying to reach a green from the 2nd cut when a chip back onto the fairway is the safe shot.
Trying to fly a lofty one all the way to the flag instead of a bump and run or a long putt.
I've been playing 6 months I shoot high 90s The difference between shooting 107 and 98
Is deciding what shot with the lie you have can you can actually execute with certainty.
If you're standing over the ball praying that the shot goes well then you're playing he wrong shot. Sometimes the shot you have is hard and there's no easy option you have to setup with the mindset that it will be a good shot and play it
Finally hit 100 today. I stop teeing off with a driver. Used the 3 wood all day. Was in the fairway 90% of the time. Now time to work on my short game.
Congrats!!!!
Don’t give up on the driver forever. But, definitely the right choice to play the longest most reliable club off the tee instead of one that gets you into trouble and out of bounds!
Great barrier broken!
Gotta use the driver. If you don't know how to use it, learn.
Great video. I appreciate you sharing your thought process. Keep up the great content. I enjoy the channel!
Great view off the 5th tee!
The whole course is stunning. Great spot.
Tough but beautiful course!!! Well played.🦆
you obviously have a great short game, what makes the 17th green "slick"?
Happy Thanksgiving bro
Thanks, you too!
Excellent as always!
Thank you!
What a beautiful course! Thanks for the video Adam! Great tips on your golf mentality.
Thank you!
How about a video about a lesson with Gordy? You edit and provide commentary about what's going on in your head during the lesson, and things you plan to practice afterwards.
9 over on that course is really good
Hi Adam, I have been a subscriber for a while now. I love your method towards golf it has really helped me stay in each shot. My handicap has plummeted since watching you. Keep up your great work
Love hearing this. Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the improvement!
The faster we accept we will never be in the PGA and be realistic with ourselves, the better we will play and the more we will enjoy this stupid game. lol Hope I can play with you one day Adam! I'm in Canada too and I appreciate all the work you have done. Helped my game and my sanity a LOT!
Thanks for the kind words. Whereabouts in Canada are ya?
I am
in Manitoba. If ever for some reason you are passing by, my buddies and I will set you up! Or maybe one day in BC I can drop by. 😀
Sounds good! Have never visited Manitoba - maybe one day. If you're ever out in BC, send me an email (in my channel's about section) and we'll try to get out!@@MSG19772
Great round, Adam. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, you too!
you are correct about the mental game and knowing your game. even though your swing has flaws and you don't compress it or hit it very far, you think your way around the golf course better than most. that makes you a good golfer.
Guess I can be expecting a Golf Parfection video.
Yes!!
Your swing has gotten so much better,
Great round Adam considering the front 9. You managed the back 9 excellent. Love the mentality of forgetting the last shot and focusing on the next, really helps playing better. Happy thanksgiving from the cold Toronto
Wait.. aren't both u guys Canadian? Not that I have issue with Canadians celebrating TG! Just never see it
We celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada, just on a different day :p@@ikigai47
Thank you!!
They say golf is a mental game ... yet so many golfers have a negative attitude. Golf needs more people with a positive mentality!
Agreed
The key to playing better golf: get out all frustration with the last shot with an expletive and reset for the next... sounds about right! I try to keep in mind that as a 15.5 handicapper (currently) that bad shots are all part of the game. Acknowledging that simple fact means I can look at the results of each shot good or bad as just another challenge to try to work through and learn from. It's easy to say, but maybe the hardest part of the game!
Love this
Great video. Question: when you shanked it in the water on two, why didn’t you drop it closer to where it went in? You didn’t have to drop it from where you played it.
Thanks! You're right, I could have dropped further ahead. Slipped my mind, I guess.
That feeling if indifference is something i have started to use over the last couple of months. The game becomes so much enjoyable despite the crap shots. 👍👍
yaaaaaas
Next shot will be my best shot . That is my attitude. I just try to challenge myself on each shot and just play my game . I’m terrible but trying to improve lol
Hey Adam!
Really appreciate your videos, they've helped me so much with decision making on the course and gut checks for my mentality when playing. You're an awesome motivator and I love the videos. Super great stuff.
Just had a question - what do you use to track your handicap? Is there an app you recommend? Thanks so much!
Thank you! My golf club signed me up for Golf Canada (GHIN is the equivalent in the US), which tracks it. I think you can sign up for an annual membership for ~$50, which allows you to have an "official" handicap for entering tournaments. But if you don't care about having an official cap, there are lots of free apps that you can use to keep track of an "unofficial" handicap. I used to use "18 Birdies," which was good!
Fun day at SilverRock ⛳️ 🏌🏻♂️
Always! We need to film you soon...
The biggest mistake most people make is pretty simple. Never ever ever try and steer your swing. Just commit to your target and go for it. That simple thought has moved my hcp from 18 to 12.3 this summer. I look forward to getting to single digits next year.
Congrats on the improvement, that's huge!
When I played well. Shooting in the high 70s. I never birdied many holes at all. It was 12 pars and 6 bogies. Never had big numbers. Never had 2-3 birdies.
we need a vancouver meetup at one of the pitch and putts!
Great idea
We play there every year we go down there. My boss has a home right across the street from it. One of our favorite
Wow, what a putt on 18 to tap in distance. I feel like I'd have put that one 5 feet past every time.
haha thanks. That was definitely the best roll of the day.
You playing with Golfparfection?
Yes!!
I went from a 14 handicap to a 9 simply by changing my attitude on poor shots. I went from expecting to flush it every shot and getting angry when I didn't, to brushing it off when I hit a bad shot and moving on to the next one.
I just played this past weekend for the first time in 9 weeks. I opened up with a front 9 57(!). I didn't get mad or upset or angry. I just brushed it off and ended up shooting a back 9 42.
Getting angry/upset does nothing but make it more difficult on yourself!
“Don’t you wish you hit that one the first time?”
The most common phrase you’ll hear me say on the golf course 😂
This video really helps. Too often, I’ll hit a bad tee shot that’ll go half the distance of a good one or well off line and feel like I need to save the hole on the next shot. I’m gonna go play in a couple of hours and commit to the conservative recovery game plan and see if I can do better. Enjoyed the video!
Great lesson. As I’ve said on many of your videos, your reminders on remaining positive have truly helped my game and focus this year. We’re supposed to be having fun out there after all. SilverRock used to be in my top 10 favourite courses but the redesign from a few years ago did not help it in my view. Still pretty, but not my favourite in Coachella any longer
My biggest mistake is starting cold lol
Hitting the range for even just 20 minutes before a tee time knocks minimum 5 strokes off of my scores
Golf clap for the Waddaplaya shirt.
Just a suggestion: When you flash the course details, like Rating, Slope, etc. You should also list "Par". A Par 73 rated at 71.0 would be very different than a Par 70 rated at 71.0, even though they are both rated at 71.0.
True, I usually do this but forgot to here. Thanks.
Great video, I’ve played Silver Rock before too and it was tricky. Hit me up if you ever want to play coming through the San Luis Obispo/Central Coast area!
Thank you! I'm going to be up in Monterey Dec 8-10 and looking for some games. Any chance you can come up the Coast?
@@NotAScratchGolferI should be able to join at least one of those days! Should I send you an email at the one listed in your YT profile?
Got your email and just replied. Looking forward to teeing it up!@@drew.varano
Did Matt make the putt?
Man if I could just keep my driver under control the entire round my high 80s would be low 80s with a shot at breaking
Adam,
Great video! But think you’re making an consistent amateur mistake.
On three short par 4’s ( < 327 yds) you pulled driver and got into trouble on all of them.
Why not tee up a long iron/hybrid/short fairway wood that gets you to
200-210 yds? Leave yourself a 100-120 shot in?
I’m in the same handicap range as you. Maybe hitting a little farther. Unless I’m nailing the driver that day I go 4 iron/hybrid to a wedge on those short holes.
Yeah this is something for me to think about, for sure! Typically, I find that as my driver is going, so are my hybrids (i.e. if I'm hitting driver poorly, I'll probably hit a wood or hybrid just as poorly). And sadly my longest iron doesn't really go far enough for it to be a realistic tee club. With that said, I think there are times when the 3 Hybrid would be a decent option when the driver is really off the rails.
1s... Damn!
Close!
What is the definition of scrambling?
How close are you to 29 palms?
Often enjoy the shot I just made but always enjoy the next shot.
Love this
Guarantee you it has 90% with the swing. Amateurs and pros both get pissed. The difference is pros hit one junker the ams hit 100+ junkers.
Has any course told you no filming since those mean Canadians in your home town told u that? I'm guessing not. "hey hey, we don't believe in free advertising pal beat it"
My home course (Shaughnessy) is still literally the only course that has ever had a problem with it. 100+ courses filmed on the channel.
Man their is no hesitation in your swing, you step in and let her rip lol. If I did that the ball fly one way, the club would fly another way, my back would go out.
I don't understand the idea of greens always breaking towards water. I would think they break whichever direction the designer made in the original construction. Greens are not the product of natural forces.
I believe that the designers want water on the green to drain to the closest water source. It makes maintaining the greens and the areas around the greens in better shape.
Seems like you’re laughing things off better the last few months. Kuddos.
Honest piece of feedback here: the background music has been driving me crazy for the past like, year, I find it kind of annoying and honestly detracts from the video and what you're trying to say for the first few wholes.
The biggest mistake IS having a poor swing. So much of golf is mental and having an automatic swing you don’t have to think about allows you to mentally shape shots and score better. Your swing is way too bogus to depend on for consistency. And forget swing tweaks. Just watch vertical balanced golf or Lee Comeaux golf to get your shit fixed 🤙🏻
1st
:D
cheers
The biggest mistake amateur golfers make is spending thousands of dollars on golf equipment every year! 😂
The biggest mistake amateur golfers make is actually bad shots, it's not course strategy or anything mental, it's bad strikes
Amateurs as in less than 10 handicaps. I don’t worry much about not having consistent contact because I play conservatively and my wedges are my strenght
