Fix the Judiciary! Millions and millions of pending cases , a great many involving land and credit. This is not some external factor to growth. Why cant the problem of Judicial capacity and quality be resolved?

Only one good thing modi did was removing 370. Even there not giving J&K its statehood was a really bad move. Most other things were good in theory but were implemented horribly.

Justices of several High Courts have complained about lawyers leaving High court positions, because of their dissatisfaction due to Union govt inaction to provide to fill court staffing & appointments.
CJI has said that it is already difficult to find lawyers to fill judicial vacancies in High Courts. Just 25 High Courts are handling 42 lakh pending civil cases.
411 of 1,080 High Courts positions, have not filled in 10 years. We have just 25 High Courts, but they have very few court/support staff & limited high court judges.
There is only one court staff in Kerala who is responsible for their state High Court to file/report the case to union govt in Delhi. Just one person for entire state to file lakhs of civil cases.
25,628 judges for over 4.7 crore pending cases in the country. We have 21 judges for a million. The Chief Justice can't solve these problems in 2 years, that govt is unable to do so in decades.
There are very few civil courtroom infrastructure & office basic facilities. The Chief Justice N.V. Ramana said India's lower court infrastructure does not even meet the lowest basic min standards.

The opposition will go say any reforms in judiciary is attack on judiciary.
And the judiciary itself doesn't want change or accountability, they are corrupt to core.. longer the cases take more money for them.

Excellent podcast. Neelkanth was also spot on on the remark of decentralization. It is time everyone in India realize that the issue is with the states. States in India are so far backward/shortsighted in their political engagements that the analysts often forget their role in Indias overall growth and keep commenting on the union/central's role. Its a fallacy to think that a strong central mean less decentralized growth.

Why does not the media, including programmes in this space, discuss in details the role not played by the states in nation building? A federal republic lie India can’t depend only on the central government to deliver progress including jobs. fault the states and hold them too responsible for inaction… well, I can sense you will not do it

16:29 question : our people are low skilled and low income how to improve their income? Reply : let's hope there is some magic by which things become cheaper just like technology made banking in rural services cheaper. These experts believe we should build infrastructure to support 50 trillion economy but investing in people who are going to make this economy needs to rely on technology innovation.

Domestic sales ( and production ) will grow only if there is a robust export sector at the margins which keeps bringing in new technology into the domestic market. I dont think one can play down the export competitiveness as an important driver to expand domestic sales.

5% is what China is growing now - that is after decades of 10% or near 10% growth rates.
If we are expecting 5-6% growth rate now, when we have a very low gdp percapita, that means our growth will stall before even reaching 10,000 USD GDP per capita and will be in middle income trap.
Our growth is a wierd one, it is not creating enough jobs and SME sector isn't seeing adequate growth.

Did any minister tell you ? All these economists will change their views on a daily basis depending on how the stock markets function. Coming to the devolution of power each minister has to carry out the vision approved by the central cabinet headed by the PM and each minister has adequate power to function within their power. Furthermore the PM ensures that the ministers function transparently especially when awarding contracts to avoid misuse of power or corruption. This is the reason why no nepotism or corruption could not be established by anyone either the media or the opposition. People like you, it seems, wanted mega corruption scandals which were the hallmark of that Maino led UPA government.
