At least I can homebrew units to fill the niche, but comp players having trouble. Perhaps the solution is massed mining tools? They have [Anti-Vehicle 4+]

This codex has 5 detachments, but each detachment focuses on 3 units, which feels more like restricting the units you can field rather than expanding them.
I've been building towards a potential vehicle detachment and at first i was very cold on outrider claw but im starting to like the idea of just having a mad max convoy moving around the the table in a group or 2 groups picking up sticky objectives while the rockgrinders full of aberrants peel off and get enemy units tied up in engagement. Could be silly fun. Also i LOVE the redeploy rule for vehicles

Dark angels, admech and now genestealers. All my armies have been fucked royally. I mean this is fine but they reaaaaally didnt need the massive amounts of nerfs.
I Liked this video a lot ❤ but I think the 4 detachments have their uses depending on what your strategy is. One is a trading detachment, xenocreed, really fun to get stronger as the game goes on with the Reroll per turn (not round) for battleline ambush. The bull rush (biosanctic muscle Beach), the objective game (outlander boxing your enemy in their deployment zone all game), gun line (confiscated tanks) and the deep strike shenanigans detachment (Ascension host). The way they made the detachments is really fun and even if one is stronger than the other it really leans into different sides of both lore and strategy with the gsc range and there is no useless detachments. Xenocreed is weaker but so much fun, I'm playing them every game. Great job guys!
I am pretty upset that our mid-tier index is now just...nerfed for no reason. Why did GW hurt us? The combat patrol that made this army affordable is gone, everything is genuinely worse, the detachments are bad and worse than the index. At this point GSC sales are gonna drop, GW is gonna cancel the army because they're like "No one wants to buy them".
@@lucastb1775 I feel like the "horde" aspect was covered by the respawning units. The difference is that it was a horde the opponent can't see, which makes it more of a scary guerilla force. Made it more unique than just 100 models standing there.
@@dalemallon2924 that is still the ability, and with more units there will be more consistent respawning. The coinflip felt bad if it was for a few expensive units, now there will be lots of coinflips for cheaper ones, that will feel a lot better I believe
Lol give it 30min. and the points will fall through the floor and in another 30min. they'll realize no one has a table to fit that many models and in a month or 5 everything will be back where it was
Love Jordan, fantastic guy! Fun and full of energy 🎉 Michaels a great dude when he can relax and enjoy the process. But seriously, someone give Stephen (there's your bloody H) a chill pill. He's a control freak with no chill. Im sure he's good at the game, but he sounds like an acchole. Stephen sounds like a middle manager with a power complex. Again, I'm sure he's good at what he does however that is no excuse for not treating people with respect.
This codex is the worst thing that has happened to the Gensteeler Cult faction since its release in the game! It's amazing how an interesting and successful faction can undeservedly receive such a nerf...

@@lotharlights both, I have been relatively uninterested in 10e until more recently as I have issues with the way GW has made things Legends (half a WE army overnight that lasted 6 months in 9e) and I’m already making predictions over what will be stealth Legended for Eldar. Not an Ork player but most peeved about what happened to them. I’ve been mainly HH since 2.0 dropped but played Marines and Knights (both flavours) in 9e
Welp, i already had to think ahead and do math eqautions and solve the cure to cancer to even do 1 turn with my models, now im going to have to do that all again but this time with weaker models...doesnt help that my gf uses high T orks, and now that aberrants are weakerish my frontline melee force is going to get shreded smh, i wont give up on my boys the day of ascension has to happen! Hopefully EC come out soon tho lol

Thank´s for the great review ! I think the codex is really thematic and flavourfull ... which is good... no detachment except the Xenobrood detach is a hard miss in my opinion. I´m personally looking forward to min / max the possibilities of the Host of Ascension detachment first .. followed by muscel beach and then (when i have the models) also the Broodbrother detachment. Yeah it may not be the most competitive codex out there .. but i like the challenge to win tournament games with niche armies / detachments 😎!Also this codex gives plenty of opportunities for hobbying and having fun with the cult !
its interesting watching all the various channels go through this book, so far every single major channel has had a completely different opinion as to which detachment was best.
We have been critical of the changes and said that a lot of these detachments are not competitive and some big hits to the faction. We do feel there is play in 2 detachments and some strong elements are still in this book. Do we think this is top table-level competitive, no. But, it does not mean this book is bad in our opinion.
@@VanguardTactics Sounds like an army that can perform as a B- army on good match-ups, but closer to a C- or even D- against a good chunk of other armies. That's just my opinion though, as I think they went overboard with half of the changes.
Will it reach the top tables? Probably not. Is this going to be an absolute blast for the 99% of players who have fun at a casual level? Absolutely. The detachment rules are a bit lacking but the strats, enhancements, and unit synergies make up for it. Very reminiscent of the Guerilla warfare playstyle from older codexes. It’s a good toolbox that will reward players that put in the effort.
I get where you're coming from, and the detachments do appear to have fun rules, but a lot of the "hidden guerrilla" force identity is disappearing the more difficult it is to return units, and the less punch they have when they do spring up.
If we would have done a review, what do you think you would have learned from it? It was leaked weeks before and would you have left us a nice comment, subscribed? We didn’t see the point in spending hours and resources to make a video that would be just slammed and was already leaked. Every single review costs a significant amount to make and when you only have a limited resource or time and money you have to prioritise.
