Our city of 40 000 people (Vernon B.C. , Canada) just spent $70 000 on a new bike skills park right in the heart of the city. I was built on park land that was known for vagerents and drug use. It's now great to see the land being used for something good. Tot, Intermediate and advanced pump tracks were built. Also a climb trail with a flow jump line coming down. Phase 2 dirt jump plans already in the works. We are surrounded by world class mountain bike trails to ride. However some days it's just fun to grab the HT and head to the local pump track for the afternoon.

Wow! I mean what a master piece! I've been shooting stories for tv for 30 years and too often TH-cam hurts my eyes, ears or brain... But this is brilliant, quality, informative and fun to watch.
One of your best videos yet Seth, however, you didn't address the one thing cities are concerned about after money - liability. How is Bentonville able to overcome insurance risks with a gravity park. I'm sure it's a simple answer, but it would've been great to see you cover it! Again, great video!
In most cases it’s actually very hard to sue your city-much harder than a bike park. You’re right that I should have mentioned that. Even if private land is being used it’s protected by recreational use statutes here in the USA.
@@SethsBikeHacks Thanks for the response. We've been fighting to keep access open to a trail here in Tucson and have done ok. Problem is, the trail is on state trust land and will eventually be auctioned off. The big fight won't be access, but why that trail should exist at all. We're a ways off from the fight, but it's coming. Videos like this, I hope, will be very helpful with trying to get us a seat at the table with developers.
Assumption of risk is the answer. As long as you know where you're going, what to expect when you get there and rules, signs, etc. are clear, it's hard to sue (and win) if you broke your neck trying a backflip off a roller. I hate to label people in upper-level City positions, but they are typically older and do not share the same excitement for the sport. This video is fantastic and I am considering sending it to my local town.

Oh my God!!This is what our metro area needs. I can’t even begin to imagine how this would benefit the youth of a community in an otherwise dull city🙏🏼
I had a DB BMX bike in the 80's. Raced all over Wisconsin and also Springfield, IL. I was ALWAYS the first off the gate, but never did very good at the finish. The boys were just too physical for me... ;)
As a Novice MTBer from Northwest Arkansas, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THESE VIDEOS!! You should check out Fitzgerald Mountain in Springdale, Ar (20 minutes from Bentonville), its a Walton Foundation trail that is quite unique with rock formations and features!
I can say as for me living here, I really take these trails for granted and I am very blessed and I’m thrilled Seth made a new video here! You explained it very well about what’s going on here in bentonville, nice video 👍🏻
Communities that have been all but forgotten due to industry jobs being farmed out overseas can benefit from embracing mountain bike culture is a huge way. As you mentioned, mountain bikers travel, buy food, gas, lodging, etc. I've seen a few towns that within one year of building even a humble trails system have a major economic boom, leading to more trails, leading to more money for the city. It's a beautiful thing! Awesome vide Seth, you totally smeeeeshed it!
Thanka for riding in Arkansas! You are one of my favorite riders to watch and it was so cool to meet you! (I was the giant group you met at coler by fire line. We had the jerseys that said Haas Hall.) Keep up the good work!
I lived in Bentonville last summer while I was an intern at Walmart Headquarters. Coler is one of the places that got me hooked on mountain biking! Amazing place!
Great video as always, Seth. The important takeaway is that even if you don't have Walton family type money, you can still build trail in your town if you're willing to put in the effort. Here in Kansas City where I live, volunteers have built over 230 miles of singletrack over the past 20 years in various city and county parks. We may not have the topography for gravity trails, but our volunteers have done some amazing things for a metro area of over two million. It all starts with a dedicated group of people willing to deal with local government and dig!
Just got a job in Bentonville and moved here this week! The trails and atmosphere of this town is amazing! It is something that needs to spread everywhere!

Our city, Florence SC. Is nearing the end of a 3 year process to turn about 100 acres of unused city land into a run ride park. As bikers we were able to help the city with some of their goals to increase the green space in the city and promote healthy life styles. We were able to jump into some other programs aimed at reducing obesity and diabetes and helped the city write a RTP grant with the help of IMBA reps. The project is out to bid now on building the trails and hopefully we will be riding 3-5 miles of pro built trails late spring with the possibility to add more. Its not an over night process but as the project has gone on we have gained more and more support. A local brewery has a beer on tap that part of each sale is going to a fund for the park.
I am lucky to be an hour away from these trails. I encourage everyone to go out and ride them. Coler, Slaughterpen, The Back Forty, and morr are all close together. This is a MTB wonderland. Happy to see it getting some love from someone like Seth.

Johnny Smith I’ve met people from all over since my back yard has blowing springs loop within a few yards. They just built 8 mountainbiker condos with bike wash and repair stations, huge community fire pit and frontage right to blowing springs loop. It’s amazing, I love going down to blowing springs at night a sharing a beer with visitors. We just got another 40 miles approved just in Bella vista. I grew up racing, but had to travel to ride, practice and race. Now coler is 600 yards from my parents house and I’m 100ft from 9 miles of premium single track. We have free beer at some bike shops too. I love the events we get. Met a few dudes from Austin Texas at outerbike that I wish I could’ve stayed in touch with. I was coming off a long injury with no ride time and they smoked me on the bush push! It was just so rad tho!

Seth this was amazing. There's an existing trail right in my neighborhood that i was planning on fixing and maybe adding some small features for my eagle scout project and this gave me some great pointers and tips to share with the officials, thanks again and happy riding man!
Live in the small south Jersey town of Delran with no mountains or elevation changes, and little open space. Who cares though! Im still gonna make it happen! Strings will be pulled, but if I dont do it, then who will?!
I’d been to Bentonville a dozen times with time on my hands to ride but had no idea all this existed. Then I heard about it, got back, and rented a bike for the day. WOW! Anything you’d want is there. Ridiculously well marked and maintained. Nearly gave myself heat stroke this summer ‘cause I didn’t want it to end😂

Great video and I have shared it with our Judge Executive. We just volunteer-built the Hammond Creek Trail here in Eddyville, KY. County land and it hasn't cost the County more than about $1000 dollars. Everyone, especially the Judge Executive, is on board, which definitely helps. But I think your video will help our trail because we want to expand and add so much more over the coming years. Great ideas here. Thank you...

Two quick things 1. Thank you so much for making this video! I am currently in college studying parks and recreation management and development with a goal of making stuff like this happen wherever I end up as soon as I get out of school. I haven't looked at the resources you left in the description yet, but I'm stoked to get looking through that stuff to add to my education. Hopefully I'll get to use this info someday to help make some bitchin trails happen! 2. Coler is the best place to learn y'all! I went from doing a 3 footer to that 13 foot drop the hammer drop in a single day. Get out there, it's worth it!
The point of premieres is not to make you wait for the video, it's to kill time while the video processes. If I posted it now, you would see it in 360P and probably leave a comment about it.

Just shared this in CT with a great person on the Tourism council. We have a bike shop in Hamden CT that just opened on the Farmington canal trail. We teach youth and young adults through a 12 week bike and employment skill training program. It is called the Work and Learn model and we even started a bike shop in New Orleans (YEP Bike works) using this model. I use your videos for our program and they are great. I would love to have our humble shop work with your channel in the future. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Seth, after seen that video, I started to work on a project of a small public bikepark in my city (36 000 citizens). Tomorrow, i will try to make the most precise map of the place that i can make. In the next few days, I will ask to some friends how to utilise the space to create a few trail sections with burmp.... You inspired me for that project, and i'm sure I'm not alone in this case !
This video got me so excited for the future! I live in a small town in the western part of Germany, and there is 1 good skate park within an hour drive, and the closest small bikepark is 1.5 hours away! If only my town had some dirt jumps, a pumptrack, or even a nice skatepark... Most of the youth I see while riding some street spots near the local school is either smoking, or drinking, but they are definitely interested in what I am doing on this weird looking bicycle. I think a little trail network, some jumps, or even a pumptrack could go a long way here! Thank you for this video Seth :D

Ranger54 gonna have to come check out the MTB condos ... that’s the dream life ...
Mtb and lacrosse is where it’s at in Bentonville I’m a local aswell
Live an hour from bentonville. Great trail riding and lots of bmx parks/tracks to keep you busy. So great to see the community building these things so close to home
Can we help make one in Asheville?
Thanks Seth for having the chat it was really nice chatting with you,
Saw it already bc I’m a patron
Nooooooooo! I cant view it yet!
Im back 8 hours later to watch!
I'm out building almost everyday with my buddy, we are working on creating the same thing. Someday's it feels impossible, but it's inspiring to see it happen in other places! Thanks Seth, it's the little things that keep us going
Please do a “How to MTB in Cold Weather” please my dad and i just got into and we want to know how to mountain bike in cold weather
Like if you agree
if I'm going to convince my local council to build a park....they're gonna have to see this video. there's no better compelling argument than this video. awesome work Seth and Co.
Is Seth still alive or cuz he hasn't uploaded for a week+
Game Play I know it’s realy annoying
No joke man was thinking the same thing this is one of my favorite channels It’s like he is putting out less and less content one video a week is good when it’s like 15 20 min video but these 5 min videos are getting old quick plus I can’t even remember his last true riding video was i see his channel losing subs if this keeps up
Matt Gates he needs to have pre recorded videos because if he can’t ride then he will lose subs without pre recorded videos
Seth, thanks for highlighting my local area. It’s such a rad thing to see how much is booming up here.
Why do people do premieres? They make you excited and then lead to disappointment. Oh well. At 9:00, I will have a nice new video to watch
Its starts at 1 am for me
he does it for views
@@coleroyer2494 Premieres get less views as far as I can tell, and a lot more dislikes
@@SethsBikeHacks don't take this the wrong way but why do people do them
Fam I’m doing it at 1am and not conplaining so stfu and support seth
Great video and I have shared it with our Judge Executive. We just volunteer-built the Hammond Creek Trail here in Eddyville, KY. County land and it hasn't cost the County more than about $1000 dollars. Everyone, especially the Judge Executive, is on board, which definitely helps. But I think your video will help our trail because we want to expand and add so much more over the coming years. Great ideas here. Thank you...
weird flex but okay

Linguini! Yall heard of feetus deletus but now its time for baby rapey
@@itsMelonPVP 😂😂 no i have not sir
@Zach ???
@Zach What?
im from the uk and want to get back into mountain biking after 7 years, your videos have inspired me and made me excited to get back out there. thankyou seth
seth can you please unblock me so i can chat i am not spamming again i was just excited
You aren't blocked
Two quick things
Please stop this premiere stuff
The point of premieres is not to make you wait for the video, it's to kill time while the video processes. If I posted it now, you would see it in 360P and probably leave a comment about it.
@@SethsBikeHacks no as a true fan i´d watch it in 360p :D
@@SethsBikeHacks can't you just hide the video till it's been de-potatoed? another channel found it really hurts viewcounts in the first couple of days
@@jamble7k That's what I normally do, but this time I'm trying out premieres to see what it's all about.
Na I like it
Ever since I started watching this channel mountain biking has become a obsession
I hate these premier feature
👍agree 👎disagree
CHEESUS SLICE I definitely don’t like it
Agreeed
When a video gets uploaded, it takes a few hours to process. Instead of keeping it a secret and posting it when it's done processing, I schedule a time and do a premiere. What's wrong with that? You're getting the video at the same time as you would.
Disagree Seth has a point
Seth's Bike Hacks i suppose it boils down to the basis of our society, instant gratification the “ I want it now mentality.”
Cool video! I grew up in Bentonville and rode the Coler Trail when it was a deer path. Visited the folks recently and got to ride Slaughter Pen...it's freaking awesome! I can't believe my hometown in Arkansas has such cool trails.
Ive been here I think since 300,000 and I have loved watching your channel grow and spread to such varieties of people in one sport keep up the amazing work
I live in Dulin Ohio and we have the most per capita green space of any small city in the country,. We don't have anything like this. I shared this video with our director of parks and rec. Crossing my fingers. Thanks for creating this content Seth!
Showing things around your area by producing this kind of video will help spread awareness, there are no big or small video production as long as you enjoy sharing your experiences will eventually lead to better understanding to why we need access to an outdoor activities and why the government should be part of this wonderful experiences.
I’m so lucky to have moved here almost 13 years ago as all this was getting started. I love living in Bentonville!!! Hope to see you here again soon.
Thanks for posting this! Myself and a few other individuals in my small town have been trying to get our trail systems sanctioned and supported now for years, This video springs in a few new ideas for us to use! Thanks for the inspiration.
awesome video Seth! i moved here almost 4 years ago from CO and was worried there would be no biking. I was pleasantly surprised. It is great to see you sharing the community of biking. The more people on the trails the better!
My hometown! Thanks for highlighting our awesome trail systems.
I moved to NWA because of the trails and so much more. NWA is a fantastic place to live and raise a family. Love it!
My city tore down the skate park and replaced it with an outdoor gym. I live in Saudi Arabia, there are already 3 gyms within a five mile radius and the average temperature is above 30 degrees C. Never seen anyone use it, but the skate park always had people there
Awesome to see bike parks being built . I live in Alberta Canada and there’s been a lot of bike parks popping up in the last couple of years .
This is the only channel which I can't forward ⏩ coz it isn't boring nice work seth👍😇 from kenya with love 👍💪
I’d never thought I’d say this but I’m going to vacation in Arkansas and it’s all thanks to you Seth.
That is so cool. I really hope that study holds its own because it is so impressive.
I’ve been watching your videos for almost 3 years now keep up the good work
I live in Oklahoma and recently have got into mountain biking and love it!! So I think I’m taking a round trip Arkansas to check this park out! I also love this channel and have been watching videos every day until I watch them all.
Thanks for creating this promotional video, just what I was looking for to show the city developer.
I love how he mentioned oakridge, oregon. They did a great job building the mountain bike tourism scene there. And it's 20 minutes from my house, which is even sweeter.
Never been so stoked to live in Arkansas. I'm glad I started riding recently, thanks to Northwoods
Nice! Our town just got one and it is great for the community!
I live in bentonville, and can say these guys make these trails look easy
