1 Sure way to kill internet - Harbor Freight backhoe trencher at work 62365

  • Quick video of my firing up a recent purchase, my Harbor Freight trencher. We have a few projects planned for this tool which you might see on the channel later. I hauled the trencher out into the yard with my riding lawn mower after getting a 1 and 7/8" ball for the back. Similar to the one in this shameless affiliate link: amzn.to/2PNk7nZ
    Engine starts 0:17
    Installing outriggers 1:01
    Crawling into position 1:40
    Starting the dig 2:25
    Severing internet 2:35
    Right now I'm digging a trench so we can bore under the driveway. Need to have a place for rainwater to go that it is not under our pier and beam house, it's not fancy enough to sport an inside river/waterfall setup. Costs too much to control the humidity.
    Having a towable backhoe has been a lot of fun. I even get some work done some times.
    Check back later for a video of my simple dump trailer made out of a couple of pallets and a piece of square tube I pull with the lawn mower as well.

    Saw a recent review with pros and cons that included, "difficult to go from towing to digging mode". After watching you do it in two minutes made me wonder what "difficult" means to some people. Thanks for posting your video.

    Owned one for five years now....use it for trenching and pulling stumps. Not fast, but easy to operate and light enough to pull with an ATV.

    You're well set up for your planned work, aided by your cute little helper with his water sprayer!
    The excavator looks to be up to the tasks and will certainly earn its cost in quite a short time. Subscribed.

    I like your "helper", reminds me of my grands, they like to "help" too. You will find lots of things to use the HF trencher for. It's one of the best things I've ever bought for my farm. For the amount of money invested it really does a lot of work. I found a good place to keep the outriggers on mine, you can check it out on my channel. Keep posting videos, I'm always looking for new ideas. These things are a ton of fun to use.

      Yes he’s great to have around, don’t get as much work done but it’s more fun! I’ll check out your video, it’s odd they didn’t plan on a place to store the outriggers in the first place.

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I guess if they put in storage for the outriggers then it would cost more like some of the other ones on the market. lol I also got a second set of tires and axles from HF. It really makes changing from digging to towing easier. Good luck and keep me posted.

    Thanks for posting the video. I recently purchased one of these diggers and it is very handy for many projects around the property. I did modify a DR 9 inch bucket to fit on my unit as much of the digging I do does not require a wide trench. Thanks again and keep posting your digging videos. Try not to cut wires and pipes !

      Thanks, I've seen some much better videos from others but figured this is a piece from Harbor Freight not everyone knows exists. How large is your property? I suspect I'll find uses all over the place for mine, already have another project in mind when I have some time to get to it. I've managed to avoid any further wire cutting, it sure is effective at it though!

      True for their main lines, but not so much for personal feed lines into homes. I actually watched them put a cable line into my one home, v and they didn't even bury it the entire way, it was visible on top of the grass.
      This looked like a small RG6 line feeding the house. Probably would not be marked by a utility survey.

  • @davej7458
    @davej7458 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Calling for locates before you dig is a real serious thing. Call 811 and give them your information. Utilities show up in the most unlikely places. Like the middle of your back yard. If you hit a high voltage power line you may kill some one or yourself. If you pull a natural gas line you may blow up a building. If you pull something up you pay for the repairs and for any lost revenue from what ever you dig up. Some communications lines can cost thousands of dollars per hour when they are out of service.. Calling for locates at 811 is free. You mark your work area in white arrows. Mark all the corners and if the area is large white marks on the sides. Make your marks at least two feet wider then your dig area. They will mark active utilities and often mark "no what ever" for what isn't there, but not always. Ten days lead time for locates on a pre survey best for planning how to do a job. You often get much more detail with this. Two days lead time for a dig survey. When you get near the ulility marks they are covered for any thing within two feet of the mark. You are required to hand dig to locate the utility in that two foot area. If you find a pipe be carefull it may be abandoned and the pipe in service may be near by. Remember locate marks are free, repares are expensive. Utilities can be in the most unlikely places.
    It's a good idea to get a pre survey of your entire property even if your not planning to do any work. Take pictures of the marks for your records.

      A full tank of gas on mine lasts 45-50 minutes at full throttle. Tank holds about .7 gallons. In our region fuel cost would be about $2.60 USD. That's for 91 octane that I remove the ethanol from. I'm not a really good operator yet, but I can dig 13" wide 3 foot deep trench about 22 feet long in 1 hour.
