    Too bad you went all Junk2 parts. You said that you think its original but having Skunk2 everything doesn't make it original you could have bought so many other rare parts that's the great thing about Civics is there's so many parts that it's easy to keep your car individualistic. Why you would go all Skunk2 like you're some 19 year old kid I really don't understand by the way Skunk2 is American not JDM

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +134

      +AGuerrin78 thanks for the comment, and you know, to each their own. These are the parts I wanted and they make me happy. I think pretty much all quality builds look pretty darn similar now, rare JDM parts or not, most "JDM inspired" cars tend to look the same. Yeah, someone may have an exclusively rare bumper, or wing or whatever, but you get what I mean.
      It's kind of like the whole "track car look" now. So many cars are built with wings, splitters, diffusers, sideskirts, etc and will never get close to a track. I could hate on that like you are on my car but that's not how I work. I love the "effort" people put into their cars, being a snobby jerk is such a waste of time. I never judge a book by it's cover anymore. But either way, thanks for taking a look!

    Nice easy rescue. Great rescue for a car that deserves it. Totaled an 88 hatch. Got a CRX 89, swapped in a 91 Si engine. Down to 1985 lbs half tank of gas, no a/c, no carpet, a few splash guards removed, interior partially removed. Great autocross car with Hoosier A6's. Love my girl of 25 years. CSP and hate when Miatas show up.

    I have the ktuned traction bar for 3 years now and still running great. I daily it in the socal weather. Only issue was when new and the joints tight they bind and rattle after it rains. Then the noise goes away after 1 week of driving.
    I like the fact that you can mount a smaller civic dual core radiator with supplied brackets on the bar. Only thing I would add to make the bar 100% great is dust boots on the joints.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tony C. I'd like to see one next to the innovative. Does it hang low? I heard some people saying it has worse clearance compared to the Innovative bar.

      Just got one 3 days ago.
      For $500
      A red 1991.
      It was late in the evening.
      After my heart was broken because i missed a deal on a 2005 Civic for $500.
      A lady bought the car so i said to my self: When something is going to be yours it will be. So i went ahead looking for some Honda.
      And i found this little thing.
      And i thank God for this and for giving me something Better...
      Saludos from Puerto Rico💪
      So don't feel bad.
      At least we have one😁👣🙏☕

    This reminds me of my uncles EG Si he used to have when I was a kid, very similar color. He had the d16 with a aftermarket cam + supporting headwork, chipped ECU, header, full exhaust and intake. It was pretty fun little car. By no means a racecar but it was a pretty quick spirited daily... i drive a Speed6 now but would love to pick something like this up

    • @GarageBuiltHondas

      Garage Built Hondas yours is really clean btw. My twin brother had a full bolt on integra GSR 6 years ago, that was more fun then my Speed6. Something about 8500 rpm, such a blast to wind out.

      @GarageBuiltHondas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No kidding, I like Hondas because I'm not rich and they are very budget friendly. But after getting older, if my money situation did change, I'd probably still stick to these EF's. 😁

    4real, tint the back and rear windows. Got a 95 cx I daily and (even tho I did the side windows) it's honestly been one of the nicest improvements I've made to the car. Bakes less in the sun and keeps some privacy

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Smith I love tint, but this car sits in the garage all the time so it doesn't get damage from the sun/UV thankfully!

    • @ashzerodude
      @ashzerodude 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Man, our cars are so similar. 1989 hatch, b16a (obd1 tho), same konig heliums, same skunk2 front ucas. I went with st suspension coilovers (looking to go a bit stiffer now, esp rear, may check out the skunk2s), st suspension rear sway bar, fastline tall short shifter (HIGHLY recommended). I have the innovative traction bar. Just bought an eBay exhaust. Have a jrsc kit sitting on my shelf.
    Anyways, great car, awesome to see some modified ef hatches kicking around and getting love!

    An excellent example of an EF Si in ultra rare Tahitian green! 👍🏻 Jon only thing I would change is those hinges on cargo cover. You should spray them flat black to blend in.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been wanting to, but I also have an extra cargo cover and was thinking of lifting the material to expose the wood and hide the hinges up the material. I'd use low profile hardware, then glue the material back down over the hinges so they would look nonexistent!

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      *hide the hinges "under" the material.*

    Looks great ! its always a treat to see a nicely maintained earlier civic, most of then by now have been trashed or beaten to death by now. I really like the way it sounds, not to raspy and droning like a lot of b16's one routinely hears. I'm in the stages of planing out my ef sedan build. At first I was thinking I would do a b-seris engine. But now after pricing things out I'm really interested in going with a H22a from a JDM prelude/accord. That way it will come with a factory LSD and good power while still leaving it stock and reliable.

    sick car...sounds like you put in a lot of time and money into it. I used to have an 89 civic...hatch creaked over every bump but loved it

    You have good style. I think all I would do is put the original headlight or just the orange corners back in.

      +owlattack1971 I don't like the OEM corners, they look too boring for me.

  • @ThmsPtrsn
    @ThmsPtrsn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you do heavy spirited driving, I would inspect your brake rotors more frequently, I've heard and seen drilled rotors crack prematurely, looks good over all though! If you do replace the resonator with a test/ straight pipe it could possibly make it more raspy and possibly drone at lower RPMs, just puttting that out there.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas Peterson I definitely do! And the resonator elimination will be reversible just in case that happens. It seems to hang a little low so I may just have a muffler shop modify either the header flange or the exhaust itself. We'll have to see!!
