2012 sees the 40th anniversary of the release of Deep Purple's landmark album "Machine Head". In recognition of Deep Purple's influence, and that of the "Machine Head" album in particular, some of rock music's biggest names have each contributed a version of their favourite track on the album to create "Re-Machined -- A Tribute To Deep Purple's Machine Head". There are two wildly differing versions of the album's most famous track "Smoke On The Water", one from guitar hero Carlos Santana with vocals by Jacoby Shaddix and one from alternative rockers Flaming Lips, and Metallica have contributed their own special take on "When A Blind Man Cries", a track recorded at the "Machine Head" sessions but originally released by Deep Purple as the B-side to "Never Before". This is a truly unique release that will appeal to rock fans everywhere.

My son bought me the mag with CD and kept it for me for Xmas. I have just finished reading the mag and throughout there are some real Respect moments in there. I'm 55 in a few days time and so have lived through all of the line ups. My own opinion is that Messers Blackmore,Gillan, Glover, Lord and Paice were back in the 70's by far the best collective. As a keys man myself then Jon Lord was and always will be an inspiration.
Damn this is awesome!!! One helluva Tribute to an amazing band!!!
It's good to see those songs being dateless and still being played by the next generations. The pity is that those great songs are not being written anymore ... What Ritchie did on guitar was simply unique. He was not only a lead but a Lied guitarist (Lied is the German word for 'song'), that's to say that his solos were songs within the songs (of Deep Purple). He never intended to set a speed record but was always looking for the best musical solution for the very song. Unmatched as yet!
Wish it came out in vinyl so it could rest against all my other Deep Purple L.P.s
Will get the CD thats for sure...!!!
la verdad Machine Head de Deep Purple es uno de mis albumes favoritos y la verdad me gusto mucho este tributo de otras bandas al celebrar 40 años de su lanzamiento =)
great stuff thanks alot
18:21 Great comment from Steve Lukather.
Thanks !
Brad Whitford plays rhythm guitar on Lazy! how cool is that!
He played rhythm on most of Joe's latest album and Jimmy Barnes sung on one of the tracks so they must have recorded Lazy then.
I miss Machine Head on this album :D
КЛАСС!!!
The clip of The Flaming Lips' Smoke on the Water cover. Not really sure who thought that was a good idea.
Iron Maiden, Space Truckin..the best cover...
maiden still rulez
When is the release??????
Joe Bonamassa is here = album is great :-) And the others,of course...
Joe Satriani, what a talent, what a performance (did you get paid double for guitar AND keyboard?), and what a nice (humble?) personality. Joe makes my top 5, Ritchie MIGHT make top10 - stop being a talented arsehole! PS Sammy, Mike and Brad were pretty good too!
. .
Only the Barnes/Bonamassa thing was worth the hype. Also the mastering was terrible on CD. Most compressed one I have ever heard.
The best covers are the ones that are faithful to the original. Some of these are just plain bad.
Metallica rules!!!!
Everything Zakk and his bandmate talk about is on the money, but their cover sounds horrible.
