@@rodrigogomez-wc4of I know he abandoned his Gillan band, and they didn't see much money. Supposedly Gillan went bankrupt from his Gillan project, and he did quietly ditch the project and band to join Black Sabbath and later rejoined Deep Purple. The band knew it was likely he would eventually be lured into something more lucrative, but he could have handled it better. Other than that, he's an elder statesman of hard rock, in spite of his eroded vocal chords.
I could listen to him for hours. What a voice. Leos love stories, Ian is no exception. Great story-teller. Thanks for the magic over the years Ian. Your screams on Speed King and Hush are amazing, so much energy. Brilliant.
might be not news for you but if you are talking about studio version of Hush (album Shades of Deep Purple) - it was recorded with Rod Evans as vocalist
The thing I most like is the fact he's always spoken well of Tommy Bolin, and when you consider they never met, it would have been easier to bash the guitarist but he never has. He said "Your band is your family" and i realised he was right. The ICONIC DP singer.
Eloquent, articulate... say what you like.. but for me Ian Gillian always seems deeply mysterious, as if he's holding within him some profound sorrow and wisdom.
I loved this :-) Haven't seen Deep Purple or Ian Gillan in decades and it's so nice to see the more personal side once in a while. This was lovely. Thanks for posting it.
I used to listen to the live version of Space Truckin' (Made in Japan album) which is about 20 minutes or so. Then I watched this video; and then I just realized I rediscovered the real meaning of "enjoyment". Thanks Mr. Ian Gillan, you never cease to amaze me .....
Really fun and entertaining! I saw you and the boys at the Snoqualme Casino Aug 10 in Washington. I traveled a long way- and loved every second! Thank you Ian, you have and do occupy a lot of space in my life.
You know, sometimes he's full of BS in a fun way, but no matter what- he's an interesting and funny man with A LOT of knowledge!!! Add to that, he's got a truly great sence of humour :-D How can you not love the guy???
Brilliant Ian! Half of dads political views and half of moms. We call that Libertarian in the states, and I embrace it. Any government dependent upon one or two radical or fringe ideologies is unfortunately quite omnipresent today in spite of centuries of history to learn from.
I remember seeing him front row on BlackSabbaths "Born Again" tour, playing his bongos while he flung all that hair around to a wicked bad Tribal beat. Oh and he's funny and still a great great man \m/
2:51 : that is quite the same story David Bowie loves to tell about Mick Jagger answering : "for what look like you ?" David mimics perfectly Mick's voice he could have been a fantastic impersonator if not a standup comedy artist 🎉❤ By the way , i am looking for a guy who can sing like Ian Gillian , its quite impossible i know but someone who comes close to that range, do you know anyone ? Please feel free to give me a name I'd be glad to go listen . Those marvellous persons are getting old and i am worried when i think of the future without them ... Help me find a substitute i'm in a diffcult to cure state of mind 👑🎤🎶 😢
10:00 : maaan i really wish David Bowie and Mick Jagger did saw this and the 3 of them sitting in a pub with a pint of ale and having a good laugh about it . Quite the same age and life experience good and bad ones all together ... 😅👍
Funny how you 'conveniently' forgot how you ripped off the Gillan members, Colin/Bernie/John/Mick/Janick and held back the catalogue of music from fans.
Bah.mala leche. Lo que acaba de hacerle a Ritchie Blackmore es absurdo y muestra como dicen los mexicamos: poca madre. Ya habia dado pinceladas de su inferioridad en aquella entrevista donde hablo de Ronnie James Dio con algo de displicencia
Really too bad the whole condescending attitude towards Christianity and miracles. I DO believe in miracles that Jesus did. I imagine many people who saw Jesus after He rose from the dead probably convinced themselves it wasn't him too. But it was and He will come again.
What a wonderful speech.
His dad would be proud.
He could talk about the phone book & still be riveted... 😍
Great storyteller !
.... oh yes !!!!!
Лучший голос Вселенной! Красавец с прекрасным чувством юмора! Мужчина - мечта) 👍👍👍💜💜💜
Ian Gillan, that was FANTASTIC!!! Thank you so much.....!!!!
What a lovely man, warm, interesting and humours. He's the type of man you'd love to spend time with listening to his stories.

Saw Ian here in Seattle in '84 on the Perfect Strangers Tour - and I'm gonna see them the day after tomorrow at the Paramount Theater!
The story about Ukraine made me laugh. I live in Kiev, and had been on a concert of this great man few days ago.
•*¨)🐺💙🎤🎹🎸 Ian Gillian is a great Singer & Song writer ! And also "un grand orateur" ! Thanks so much to the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy.

Add music to this story and you get yourself a Smoke On The Water part 2 😂😆😅

How sad and how low it has sunk when all of a sudden entertainers and singers are supposedly pundits or experts on politics.
Way too intelligent for Blackmore.
