I'm amazed nobody pointed out there's not a microphone in sight.... This guys from my hometown and this video is a million years old - its video to midi drums.
Please take a look/reaction to Evgeny Novikov from when he was playing in Katalepsy (tracks such as Blindead Sultan or Knifed Humility). He is a very talented drummer and is very technical as well as fast; he was one of the reasons I got into drumming!
Man every time i listen to the isolated drum video, my brain fills in the guitar and screams; that song is absolutely unforgettable. Legendary. I bet everyone remembers the first time they heard this iconic masterpiece
Well, Aaron has admitted online that he records each song in sections and pastes them together in ProTools. He also admits that the third record was totally programmed, although he claims he never programs anything he can't actually play. Also, have you ever wondered why there IS NO LIVE Infant Annihaltor footage online? We only get to see edited video clips of his performances. Hmmmm. Also, I've sat on both sides of the recording console and can tell you that it's super rare for a drummer, especially an extreme metal drummer, to NOT have tracks cleaned up in production. Sure, I envy his talent, but there is nothing "loser" about my statement. It's simply the truth. I'm absolutely willing to believe that he can play 95% of what you hear, but I'm also willing to bet that his tracks are cleaned up like everyone else's. If you are a drummer, you already know.@@TheChzoronzon
It's hard to tell because we are watching an edited video. We aren't seeing a single, live take. So, the chances that he is performing flawlessly enough to avoid beat quantization and editing in the production phase are very slim at those speeds. Do I believe he can play that fast? Yes. Can he do it flawlessly? No. Can he do it in one take? Probably not. Are we hearing an unedited audio track. Absolutely not. Still takes tremendous talent to do what he manages to do. I'm just a realist with real world experience of my own. @@TheChzoronzon
@@SN-cb9xj I don't hear a flawless performance, except in the inhuman consistency of the bass drum, but we have already agreed that's triggered. I hear a human performance, not a grid... and neither does Jorge, that you'll admit is quite knowledgeable on the issue... For me, this is a 100% case of people being anal, cause the crappy quality of the image, and its low framerate, gives them the perfect excuse to be Captain Smartass... but ey, maybe I'm wrong and there's no malice at all in those that started the rumor... Again: you are being kinda reasonable, don't take this as personal :)
I don't take it personally. I simply know what goes on in a professional recording studio, and it's pretty easy to find out what Aaron himself has said about the matter. There are also a number of other reaction videos available on this particular track if you care to see what others think, but it sounds like you're pretty prejudiced against any sort of criticism. I get it. I used to be the same way about my favorite drummers.@@TheChzoronzon

Yes! Lyle is sick! He's the one that actually wrote the drums on Planetary Duality (which is a masterpiece btw). It's funny that you say he looks possessed, because some crazy Christian conspiracy theorists were using footage of him playing Planetary Duality as proof of a musician that sold their soul to the devil and is possessed 🤣. I guess it's a pretty good compliment when you're so good that normies think you must be possessed lol.
@@xenophagia Lyle is awesome! He has his own TH-cam page and occasionally gets on here and posts some amazing stuff from time to time. Have you ever heard of Matt Kuykendall from All Shall Perish? As a metal head and a mechanical engineer, drumming could actually be measured in horsepower. Good quote. You opened a new era, maybe bps should be measured differently
I was alway saying-Aaron is THE BEST metal drummer ever existing. Joey Jordison-is great,El Estapario-is absolutelly insane, but THIS GUY-he is absolutelly ON ANOTHER LEVEL. He is both very creative with a bit slower, groovier parts, and absolutelly MIND BLOWING with his speed and accuracy. This is a VERY TOP TIRE drummer. Hearing a phenom like Estepario shower another's performance with such unmitigated selfless praise is the most refreshing thing I've heard all year, and today is my birthday. The level of respect is unprecedented, the commentary is hilarious and I'll definitely be sharing this video. I'd smoke a blunt with this dude. Bro, if you think this is crazy, you need to see *_Morgan Sansous_* from the band *_Henker!_* The guy is 🤯! I also recommend *_Lyle Cooper_* from *_The Faceless,_* playing *_Planetary Duality._* He's the one that actually wrote the drums on that masterpiece of an album. Unfortunately, other drummers that joined after him tend to mistakenly get the credit for writing those incredible drums. Both Morgan, and Lyle are very underrated drummers.
Awesome! I love all this stuff because it's about hearing and playing as much drums as possible. Guys like this, and of course EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO have brought so much new excitement to drumming!
I would love to see a breakdown of Clay Aeschliman's work. His musicality is top notch. On the topic of Triggers, I would definitely recommend checking out Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska. He plays without triggers. Enjoy!! Edit: I forgot you did 40 Roll already. Chris Turner is a beast.

Agreed Aaron has mad skills. He’s the Gavin Harrison of metal. Very musical and dynamics as well . Notice where the stick marks are on the heads. All placed precisely on purpose
Nicely said. Triggers are not auto tune, they can only record what was put into them it’s only sending midi info so you play sloppy, it sends that sloppy to the track. Sure you can move midi notes but it’s pretty much a way of capturing the attack of the beaters and clean out the muddy mess of the ringing head and shells. No triggers = muddy slop and no definition.
I can’t help myself, I know my main man here will probably NEVER see my comment... Never the less I have to say, what a stand up guy you are! I am not only blessed to have ears to hear this amazing drummer, but to hear your humility is inspiring! I have often wondered what you may feel when you hear certain pieces of music that are complex and maybe “only being complex for the sake of complexity” or when you hear a drummer (doing exactly what this crazy beast is doing) bringing his A game and really, not only crushing it, but bringing beauty (as you always do) And I’m blown away by your responces ... You have my deepest respect my friend, I would love to hear your feedback everyday on every single freaking aspect on every living and non-living thing😂😂😂 The quote “He makes me want to quit playing guitar...” should be on every bumber sticker on every drum kit!!! Love it! Thank you brother!
Thanks for the explanation about triggers. I've avoided them over the years due to the hate but never fully understood. Now I don't feel so bad about how shitty my gravity blast practice is going 😂. My double and triple rolls are getting good, but this has inspired me to revisit my comparatively weak singles. Y'all are both on another level.

It's fake bro. He can't drum like that. That's why they dont tour lol

Drummers rules the 🌎🌍
Please take a look/reaction to Evgeny Novikov from when he was playing in Katalepsy (tracks such as Blindead Sultan or Knifed Humility). He is a very talented drummer and is very technical as well as fast; he was one of the reasons I got into drumming!
I also thought about him %)
And now Slaughter to Prevail is everywhere.
From USSR with love %)
@@Джем-ь5к I'm actually missing his technicality from S2P as much as I love them 😢
I agree with this, his writing in Katalepsy was so complex, I love it.
Anddd, he holds his drumsticks backwards which is just bonus points
Those are some of the best drum videos on YT. So ridiculously fast and complex. I still watch them from time to time.
Man every time i listen to the isolated drum video, my brain fills in the guitar and screams; that song is absolutely unforgettable. Legendary. I bet everyone remembers the first time they heard this iconic masterpiece
I'm so glad you did this! Please do Spencer Prewett of Archspire next. I would love to see that blow your mind!
Him, and Morgan Sansous of Henker 🤘🤘
Spencer Prewett, Austin Archey (lorna shore), and Evgeny Novikov(slaughter to prevail). I would love to see him check out all 3 of them.
And the drummer from Animals as Leaders
Spencer Prewett is a must! Archspire are so fast. Spencer's stamina and footwork are godly.
I saw them play in november and yea, they were crazy fast.
Triggers are important to achieve that sound, but don't forget you're probably hearing a good bit of beat quantization and Pro Tools magic as well.
How do you know? Any hard proof or source I can check, or just hearsay and the typical online loser envy?
Legitimately curious

Uhh also…Lyle Cooper…Planetary Duality. The live video is insane. Dude looks possessed. Amazing drummer!

Love your trigger explanation cause everyone hates on it. I think it sounds wicked. Makes for good punch in songs.
Awesome! I love all this stuff because it's about hearing and playing as much drums as possible. Guys like this, and of course EL ESTEPARIO SIBERIANO have brought so much new excitement to drumming!

Amazing and keeping it humble, Much love and respect from sweden

I am not only blessed to have ears to hear this amazing drummer, but to hear your humility is inspiring!
