I’ve had my 1299 almost 3 yrs now and I have to say it’s awesome Not sure what people read or say about the problems I have had one One small recall on the front brakes and like all vehicles Recalls are not really a problem It’s not uncomfortable or does it make my hands or shoulders go numb It’s surprisingly tall and long so by far not cramped Ya it gets warm in stop and go traffic but it’s about ride what u want ; when and where I choose to ride mine on the open roads and country side with my friends Not to point this out but you are sitting on a motor The heat doesn’t bother me and I have been stuck in traffic from time to time It’s a bike not a couch or sofa and if I wanted to ride that I go buy a goldwing or even worse ; sit home on the sofa and browse you tube like the experts on here People forgot what bikes are about and choose to criticize machines they probably never drove or even seen one in real person
I had my 1299 for 1 year and 6,500 miles. I also did 4 track days on it. As a bike to ride it was awsome and I loved it, it felt really special but it was soooo unreliable (ignition relay failed twice, spat its chain, problem with overheating and an undiagnosed intermittent inertial sensor issue). I now have a 200whp r1 that spits flames and sounds sooo good and would eat my 1299 for breakfast and don't regret the change in any way. Don't get me wrong I loved the 1299 when it worked but the r1 is just better in most areas
yes, owned by Audi. But unlike Lamborghini, it's quite difficult for Audi to share its "German" parts with the Ducati mototcycles. So it's still 100% Italian :) You could also view it like this: A big company is majority shareholder of a smaller company, but have no direct influence on how they run their business and manufacturing, design, philosophy, etc.
I owned one of those blue-grey 500cc ducatis in the 80's. It was an absolutely magnificent bike. One of my best biking memories. I can still remember as if it was yesterday taking the demo bike out for a spin. By that time I had already owned 5 bikes - various from honda through suzuki to even a moto guzzi. After not even 5 minutes on the ducati I just knew that I would be buying the bike. It was amazing.
Pranay KP Seriously? Calling the desmo16 a "track focused sportsbike"? Laughing! It's a v4 limited edition Motogp replica that cost nearly $100k Aus when new, not a Yzf r6 for f&*ks sake!
This is a very well made video. You seamlessly tied together history, sounds bites and personal opinion in a concise and interesting way. Well done sir!
I believe people think of 999 as ugly because it deviated from the traditional Ducati design formula which is horizontal twin headlamps and a single sided swingarm otherwise it is as gorgeous as any other Ducati.
999 is the weirdest yet the best ducati ever ever ever. it got 3 manufacturer's championship out of 4 years of participation !!!!!! and . . . unlike all other ducatis to date ,it overcame the inline fours (WITH THE SAME DISPLACEMENT) on two cylinders only. the Xerox edition is a must own for any serious bike lover/collector.
I believe people think it ugly because it deviated from the traditional Ducati design formula which is horizontal twin headlamps and a single sided swingarm otherwise it is as gorgeous as any other Ducati.
Don't think anyone disputes the performance (at least, for when it came out). The issue is the styling. Ducatis, for better or worse, must be beautiful things. The world demands it. And on the heels of the 916/996/998, it was ugly. Simple as that.
Awesome vid mate love my Ducati x3... Couple things to mention King Carl Fogarty won 5 Superbike world titles on the 916 one on the 996 then Troy Bayliss on the 999 which was virtually untouchable for the next 4 years till the 1098. Corsa Ducati
Yammie, if you're going to do history, you have to cover the BMW R boxer twins, and the pre 2006 K series, as well as the 2006 onward K series. Lot of history on those bikes.
Loved the video. Next video talk about yamaha? I mean you are Yammie Noob after all. Maybe start with how after WWII Japan was no longer allowed to make fighter planes, so all the incredible engineers turned to making motorcycles since a motorcycle has similar physics to an airplane. That's basically the main reason honda and yamaha have dominated the motogp world since the beginning.
Going to show my age here, you young guys 20-30 have no idea how great the new bikes are. The bikes of today are better than race bikes of yrs past. I hope you guys appreciate the level of machines you buy. 20 yrs ago I never thought bikes like these would be available to the general public. Enjoy, this is a great time to be a rider.
Man i love your videos :D i love how much i can learn by watching your videos, thanks for the work. pretty good video i really enjoyed it ♥ i also listening to your tracks after your "draw my life". ketamine 🦄 please keep it up! love from a big fan from germany
Fuck yammie your TH-cam videos are so well thought out, clearly a lot of hard work goes into your channel and from me and many others, it's appreciated, and enjoyed. Keep it up dude. You deserve your subs!
Do an episode on Buell. I'm picking up my dream bike this Saturday, a Buell Firebolt XB12R. I've wanted one since the original Firebolt was released. Buells are so unique, and Eric Buell has such an amazing history and story, I'd love to see your take. ...by the way, the Firebolt I'm buying is actually going to be my first bike. Too much for a beginner? Definitely! Hopefully I can restrain myself from riding it until I've completed the MSF course. This new chapter of my life is how I found your channel. Loving the content! Educational and entertaining. Keep it up Yammie!
Yammie you should do Honda next. I used to work for the very first Honda car dealer in America, and the owner got started by selling motorcycles. He and Mr. Honda used to be very good friends.
Look good in the flesh not quite in photos. Amazingly there are many 'conservative' motorcyclists out there, particularly those that can't afford anything other than the ordinary. I owned a 749R along with a 998 and a couple of 900 SS's.
i'd love to see a brief history of not just honda bikes, but honda *v4* bikes. they don't really make them anymore but they used to put out some really cool v4 models
I've already seen all of these more than once lol we need more!! can I recommend you do a "history of the vfr"? that would be awesome, with its race history while evolving into one of the best sounding sport tourers on the road. keep up the good work!
thumbs up for these history insights! but the story about ducati cannot be complete without mentioning its other significant trademark- the rattling dry clutch!
Pretty sure that nobody is gonna ask for these companies and that it's gonna be rather hard to track everything, I would like to offer Yammie a challenge. Try doing one of these manufacturers - 1. Yezdi 2. Java 3. Bajaj 4. TVS As I said, it's a challenge.
How dare you talk bad about the 999/749. That bike was amazingly good and i got complemented by its sexy curves and unique headlights. You should ride the bike first before talking bad about them! And you forgot about the two icons? the desmo RR and superleggera!
I've never really looked at Ducatis much but this video was well done and it was cool to learn a brief history of a manufacturer that I know nothing about. I'd be interested in seeing a video on KTM or Buell.
I know I'm in the minority but I love the way the 999 looked. I liked the stacked lights and the ducts on either side. I liked the simpler symmetry, if that makes sense, of the design. Also, they sound amazing.
I used to own a 916. I just wanted to park it in my living room and display it as art. Arguably the best looking bike in history. Unfortunately that art required a lot of expensive maintenance. lol. Great vid!
midibudu wait till you have to work on one! fragil plastics, tight tolerance! and it took a 10 foot cheater bar to crack an axle nut on an 848 once, wich requires a special socket! that i didnt have cause its diffrent the the one on the big bikes, that being said, i like getting paid one the work is done!
Good information, surprised no mention of the infamous dry clutch sounding like a tin can with a few dimes rattling around. My streetfighter has been good to me. The modern Duc's are pretty reliable and the company is now owned by Audi, but that polarizing topic could be a video in it's own right.
Totally the wrong parent company for the products Buell was producing. I had a friend with an XB900 (that I helped service) who had the parts people at the Harley shop give him the cold shoulder when he went in to buy parts. As it turns out I knew a guy there from my younger days, and after a short talk he got a better reception. Still, Harley people seem to hate Buell products in general. Yes, 'tis a shame. That XB was a beast of a machine, though, I must admit it sounded like a tractor when it was at idle.
bo0mb0i an "L twin" is just Ducatis branding, it's just a 90° degree v twin canted forward so that the front cylinder is parallel to the ground to improve cooling of the rear cylinder. This type of thing is done all the time, just as Mercedes' "biturbo" engines are still fundamentally twin turbos, an "L twin" is still fundamentally a V twin.
90deg twins are 'L's, shallower than 90degs are vtwins. The advantage of the 90deg layout is engine balance without the need for balance shafts to eliminate engine vibration, and a power pulse delivery that's less severe on tyres. If anything the 90deg 'L' layout has caused Ducati 'C of G' problems by limiting the placement options within the frame compared to a narrower 'v twin' layout.
Vic Rattlehead true that. Yammie here is talking about art, sculptures and aesthetically fast, refined and awesome babes and Mr. Roy is bringing peasantry to this video
The Panigale also introduced an entirely new engine, the Superquadro. It uses chain driven cams like most other manufacturers. Word on the streets they are going to adopt the V-4 platform for their racing homologation.
Maybe the Aprilia RSV line next? that was pretty interesting. Also as a previous owner of a 749 they look horrid but grow on you eventually once you ride them enough to realize how great they are.
Awesome vid. For the next history lesson I vote for that other unreliable but gorgeous Italian brand with even more impressive race history: MV Agusta.
so i know its hardly in your wheelhouse, but the BMW GS is one of those bikes journos keeping harping on about, that its the definition of a genre and how it broke the mould and all other manner of simpering frivolities, maybe you could put together a cheeky history lesson on that. if not that one then maybe the whole HP4, s1000rr. love your work matey
BMW from the old boxers to their stint in the supermoto world (and still there just under a different factory name) to the new innovations in the inline 4 with the S1000 family. Take a bite out of that yammie
Yammie, thank you. This was very interesting. I'd love to watch something similar on the BMW K series and the Honda GL line... and the Kawasaki ZX14R... and MV Augusta... for starters.
Nice. The way you pronounce those Italian names at the beginning makes me think you are Italian. I have a Duacati Darmah 900SS. It's a 1980, so looks somewhat between the Pantah and 900SS. Someday I hope to get this bike on the road, though older Ducatis are HEAVY and make good use of steel, I find.
Not a specific make/model but the evolution of speed/performance and power would be interesting along with how it was achieved through technological advances in aerodynamics, material, engines, etc.
I think BMW should be next, being the oldest motorcycle company iirc. A video following the lineage if the boxer twin from inception through wwI and wwII to modern day would be sweet.
As someone who is hopelessly addicted to motorcycles I hope to one day own a ducati or at least ride one lol. Great vid yammie looking forward to the next one. Maybe cover Harleys that's sure to stir the pot.
Maybe do a vid about Bimota next? Also: The 999 is not ugly, it just has strong features :) It has been called ugly ever since it came out, and initially I kinda thought the same. But these days I just love how it looks. It's just so different and bold and daring! I know that everybody and their dog wants ducati to just do bikes that look like the 916, but that's boring and being stuck in the past. If you want a bike that looks like that, get the 916! Personally I love companies who have guts to try new stuff and make bold decisions, for better or worse. It's so rare these days.
Wow, what is the chance of that!? I rode today the same road of the 996 bike at 7:30. Such a strange feeling, like I've already seen this place. And I've pulled a wheelie too =D unbelievable
Can you do a history video on the monster? I've owned two monsters so far including my current ride and I love them (and all Ducatis!) What little I know about the history of that line is that it was originally developed to compete in some way with Harley and snowballed from there, but would love to hear a more detailed story!
I’ve had my 1299 almost 3 yrs now and I have to say it’s awesome
Not sure what people read or say about the problems
I have had one
One small recall on the front brakes and like all vehicles
Recalls are not really a problem
It’s not uncomfortable or does it make my hands or shoulders go numb
It’s surprisingly tall and long so by far not cramped
Ya it gets warm in stop and go traffic but it’s about ride what u want ; when and where
I choose to ride mine on the open roads and country side with my friends
Not to point this out but you are sitting on a motor
The heat doesn’t bother me and I have been stuck in traffic from time to time
It’s a bike not a couch or sofa and if I wanted to ride that I go buy a goldwing or even worse ; sit home on the sofa and browse you tube like the experts on here
People forgot what bikes are about and choose to criticize machines they probably never drove or even seen one in real person
I had my 1299 for 1 year and 6,500 miles. I also did 4 track days on it. Don't get me wrong I loved the 1299 when it worked but the r1 is just better in most areas
I can.. almost feel the hand gestures behind the mic
Yep
"Excruciatingly Italian" --that's why I want one, I think.
Isn't Ducati owned by Audi? It's not an Piaggio brand (like Aprillia, Moto Guzzi or Vespa)
Yh Audi but Audi is owned by VW so basically a Ducati is the same as a Lamborghini. Jks. but legit its owned by the Volkswagen Group
+Ari_Simonian You're why Yammie's channel is awesome - good fun, and I learn something. Cheers bud!
+Marty_Smith I haven't been the same since my vasectomy. I'll stick with my California 1400 Touring - pure Italian style and comfort.
yes, owned by Audi.

HOW ON THE EARTH COULD YOU FORGET THE DESMOSEDICI RR!!!
cringe master 2000 Maybe he didn't mention it because it doesn't come from the Panigale line. Desmocedici is a track focused sportbike right?!
Pranay KP Seriously? Calling the desmo16 a "track focused sportsbike"? Laughing! It's a v4 limited edition Motogp replica that cost nearly $100k Aus when new, not a Yzf r6 for f&*ks sake!
Il Pirata oh okay. but that still doesn't make it a member of the Panigale family. Thanks for the info mate
Pranay KP wtf are you taking about. What could be more "part of the Panigale family" than their Motogp title winning bike? Do you even ride brah?
Il Pirata ofcourse dude! but Desmosedici isn't a Panigale, check out for yourself
Love my 899 Panigale! Miss my 1100evo Monster though. That was a super fun bike for around town!
The 749/999 is a beautiful bike, it's just different from all the others round and smooth looking bikes. It's a masterpiece, love it or hate it.
This is a very well made video. You seamlessly tied together history, sounds bites and personal opinion in a concise and interesting way. Well done sir!
aprilia history please
I believe people think of 999 as ugly because it deviated from the traditional Ducati design formula which is horizontal twin headlamps and a single sided swingarm otherwise it is as gorgeous as any other Ducati.
999 is totaly underrated

Well done !! (as an afflicted Ducatisti, found this fun and refreshing)
Cheers from Wisconsin Yammie !!

Triumph from olden times to ruin and then rising from the ashes to create the Daytona among other great motorcycles sir YamYam.
I think the 999 was a good looking bike!
Totally agree with you. Beauty is subjective but 916's droopy eyes will not winning any beauty contest hosted by me. Ha
I always thought the 916 was sexiest sportbike ever made.Just my opinion, I just like the look.
I love both bikes and would definitely take one of each, thank you.
Yes, it so beautiful! Loved it, one of the best looking sportsbike for me!
being a Triumph guy, you should do one like this on what led Triumph to the 675R.
Loved the video. Next video talk about yamaha? I mean you are Yammie Noob after all. As a Brit I would have to say Triumph. They've only been around for 25 years or so (this time round) and well....you know how good they are Yam...
Fuck yammie your TH-cam videos are so well thought out, clearly a lot of hard work goes into your channel and from me and many others, it's appreciated, and enjoyed. Keep it up dude. You deserve your subs!
I had to read your comment twice cause i thought you hate him😅😂
Do an episode on Buell. I'm picking up my dream bike this Saturday, a Buell Firebolt XB12R. I've wanted one since the original Firebolt was released. Buells are so unique, and Eric Buell has such an amazing history and story, I'd love to see your take.

Do one on Kawasaki!! H1 Mach 3, Z 1, GPZ 900 R Ninja, ZX 11, ZX 14, H 2 R...
My poor kz gets no love. You monster
You need to do one on Triumph! I'm really liking how your evolving your channel. Keep up the awesome work Yammie.
Do history of KTM! yes I'm a fanboy, get over it
actually that should be pretty interesting.
If Yammie does this he needs to talk about the 950/990 adventures. The start of KTM's street experiments.
include husqvarna ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
rodrigo farinha do some of your own research on the company. They aren't even comparable to ducati. This video would be so confusing and boring
Please do this
Yammie you should do Honda next. I used to work for the very first Honda car dealer in America, and the owner got started by selling motorcycles. He and Mr. Honda used to be very good friends.
I disagree about the 999.
Yes, I think it looks amazing, I'm actually looking for one to buy
Same I think it’s sexy in its own weird way
I agree, the 999 was an amazing bike, perhaps ahead of it's time, but beautiful and the performance was second to none.
Fun fact, Ducati calls their engines L-motor, not v-twin.
Fun fact , styling & design of ducati 916 is derived from honda nr 750
I've already seen all of these more than once lol we need more!! can I recommend you do a "history of the vfr"? that would be awesome, with its race history while evolving into one of the best sounding sport tourers on the road. keep up the good work!
Awesome work my friend!
Agreed. Informative and very entertaining.
thumbs up for these history insights! but the story about ducati cannot be complete without mentioning its other significant trademark- the rattling dry clutch!
You must be blind My 999 is awesome I get Kudo's all the time on it??
U must be fat by now. Cuz thats a good lookin bike
I don’t think he rides, nor knows much. He read articles and made a video
Yes, PLEASE do more of these! I'd like to see Honda and Suzuki.
Pretty sure that nobody is gonna ask for these companies and that it's gonna be rather hard to track everything, I would like to offer Yammie a challenge. Try doing one of these manufacturers -
1. Yezdi
2. Java
3. Bajaj
4. TVS
As I said, it's a challenge.
I think the 999 is a pretty good looking bike! Looks very modern for it's age.
Do history for Aprilia.
TRIUMPH!!!! specifically the bonnies, daytonas, and (my personal love) the sprint!
How dare you talk bad about the 999/749.
That bike was amazingly good and i got complemented by its sexy curves and unique headlights. You should ride the bike first before talking bad about them!
And you forgot about the two icons? the desmo RR and superleggera!
desmmosedici anns superleggeara were not of panigale line i think. not shure but i think so.
I bought a 1199 just the other week it’s a 2013 had 349 miles on it. Got it from a collector 🤙🏼
Do BMW, I think they'd be really interesting, and they've been around a looooooooooooong time.
I didn't think the 999 was so bad. I had a 749R for a while and wish I still did it was a beautiful bike one of my favourites.
Do a history of the Honda VFR interceptor. The great bikes and have a wonderful sounding V4 engine.
Change that to just VF4 as they've used the VF4 engines in wayy more then just the interceptor such as my cruiser (97 Honda VFC750 Magna)
Absolutely, the Honda V4 is a very rich tapestry. Please do it!
The history of Honda in general is very interesting. starting from making piston rings for Toyota, now look at them.
there is one person is my area who owns a mint vfr800 that sounds like heaven
I've never really looked at Ducatis much but this video was well done and it was cool to learn a brief history of a manufacturer that I know nothing about. I'd be interested in seeing a video on KTM or Buell.
I know I'm in the minority but I love the way the 999 looked. I liked the stacked lights and the ducts on either side. I liked the simpler symmetry, if that makes sense, of the design. Also, they sound amazing.
John Summers Couldn't agree with you more...
I used to own a 916. I just wanted to park it in my living room and display it as art. Arguably the best looking bike in history.
Unfortunately that art required a lot of expensive maintenance. lol.
Great vid!
Do MV Agusta pls
That’s was a great video, just purchased my first Ducati, nice to know a bit more about the history....
i love/hate ducat, awesome bikes, shitty electronics and customer service FOR WHAT IVE SEEN
midibudu snowkitten?
midibudu wait till you have to work on one! fragil plastics, tight tolerance! and it took a 10 foot cheater bar to crack an axle nut on an 848 once, wich requires a special socket! that i didnt have cause its diffrent the the one on the big bikes, that being said, i like getting paid one the work is done!
and some "close" guys i know
Good information, surprised no mention of the infamous dry clutch sounding like a tin can with a few dimes rattling around. My streetfighter has been good to me. The modern Duc's are pretty reliable and the company is now owned by Audi, but that polarizing topic could be a video in it's own right.
buell EBR
Louis Bunnell Buells were awesome. Shame Harley pulled the plug on them all those years ago.
When Harley pulled the plug on them is when they really became Buell they were able to make higher performance machines after that
Louis Bunnell I think they pulled the plug due to issues with sales. ''Tis a shame.
That XB was a beast of a machine, though, I must admit it sounded like a tractor when it was at idle.
i currently own a buell firebolt xb9r, and i love this bike. buell is back up and running under the name EBR.
My mom has worked at Yamaha for 15 years, and I would appreciate it if you would make a video like this about Yamaha. Thanks!
husqvarna oldest bike manufacturer ever
jelmer705 I live 30 minutes from Huskvarna. :)
Benjamin Sjöö jealous 😣
No im sorry but prove me wrong here hussvarna began in 1903....
jelmer705 Yeah, I have even been in the factory and seen how they make their chainsaws. :)
I live in Husqvarna haha
For the record. The o99r is an amazing machine. I love the looks of that bike too...the carbon fiber body work is a master piece.
make one on the Suzuki GSX-R series.
^ and include the GS series
How about no.
Torgny, right. Because who'd be interested in the series of bikes that started the whole 'racer replica' thing anyway!?!
Anish Deshpande Fuck Gixxers
Anish Deshpande gixxer is bae
History of Husqvarna would be cool, there are extremely many bumps and turns in that story. And victorys.
aren't they "L twins"?
bo0mb0i an "L twin" is just Ducatis branding, it's just a 90° degree v twin canted forward so that the front cylinder is parallel to the ground to improve cooling of the rear cylinder.
This type of thing is done all the time, just as Mercedes' "biturbo" engines are still fundamentally twin turbos, an "L twin" is still fundamentally a V twin.
the L twin is because - to keep the engine weight as low as possible they keep it close to the ground, resembling an L, and not a V.
Thanks Guys
90deg twins are 'L's, shallower than 90degs are vtwins. The advantage of the 90deg layout is engine balance without the need for balance shafts to eliminate engine vibration, and a power pulse delivery that's less severe on tyres. If anything the 90deg 'L' layout has caused Ducati 'C of G' problems by limiting the placement options within the frame compared to a narrower 'v twin' layout.
I see! thanks!
i like the history video series idea. you're so clear.
999 was ugly? That's your opinion!
as italian i really appreciated this video
. grazie fratello motociclista
Royal Enfield!!!
Avbesh Roy not a chance in hell
Badabing Bodaboom dude first! Wtf is your user name
Avbesh Roy fuck Royal Enfield. they are an embarrassment
No dude! You r
Vic Rattlehead true that. Yammie here is talking about art, sculptures and aesthetically fast, refined and awesome babes and Mr. Roy is bringing peasantry to this video
hey Yammie! could you do a Royal Enfield or Norton history video next? they are pretty historic. and i plan to make some motovlogs on it as well.
Great way to get my heart racing at the end. Love the sound
Great video. You could mention Desmosedici between 1198 and 1199. It was limited but its design was critical for the 1199 I think. Good work, nice.
Yammie, thank you. This was very interesting. I'd love to watch something similar on the BMW K series and the Honda GL line... and the Kawasaki ZX14R... and MV Augusta... for starters.
I reckon a video on the history of Norton and their rotary race bikes would be interesting.
They should have made street going versions of that bike.
The 1299 Panigale L-Twin is an amazing machine!
As a fellow Daytona owner, a triumph history would be quite intriguing.
The bike of Big Boss. Triumph T100 or just triumph in general. Very iconic motorcycle.
My 899 is by far the best bike I've ever owned , ride feel the brakes I absolutely love this bike 899 Ducati Truly a RIDERS bike
That last clip with great cans sounded "a-fucking-amazing"...Thank you Mr. Noob
Not a specific make/model but the evolution of speed/performance and power would be interesting along with how it was achieved through technological advances in aerodynamics, material, engines, etc.
Very VERY good history review. Thanks for teaching me
I think BMW should be next, being the oldest motorcycle company iirc. A video following the lineage if the boxer twin from inception through wwI and wwII to modern day would be sweet.
Owned the 06 999 in black. Never met a single person that wasn't enamoured with its looks.
To each their own, but I love my Monster 821...thanks for this video, it was great!
this is your best video to date, I love DUCATI
You should do more videos like this with other motorcycle brands. Good variety to the channel. Have a good one.
Very informative video Yammie! Being a Panigale owner, this hits home for me.
As someone who is hopelessly addicted to motorcycles I hope to one day own a ducati or at least ride one lol. Great vid yammie looking forward to the next one. Maybe cover Harleys that's sure to stir the pot.
Definitely think a look at the CB and CBR lines from Honda would be awesome
So much thought went into this bike, that is why there is no comparison. Truly a Ferrari of all bikes.
I'm Italian and I really liked this video! Love you Yammie
The 999 now looks stunning.
I'd like to see a Ducati diavel... partly because I own one. Great vid!
Lawrence McCue me too... because I own one 😈
DO TRIUMPH! Namely, Daytona 675 / Street Triple 675, 3 cylinder platform!
I would love to see you do a history lesson on buell motorcycles. It's a morbid tale with a happier ending.
Sound clips were a nice touch. Thanks
