I've become a new fan of this series since I binged it online just recently and I can't stand to ignore the fact that Clark & Lois barely had any character development within their relationship together. I really wish they were given more time on screen together. Cause they were so great. Can't believe they dragged Clark and Lana for 7-8 seasons. That relationship died down after the 3rd season.
Thats why Tom Welling was always meant to be the next Superman, even Reeves gave him his blessing and passed it onto him. WB did a huge mistake by not convincing Tom Welling to do the movies by throwing a shit ton of money at him to change his mind
That wasn’t it. Tom addressed it in podcasts and at conventions. The CW would have never released Tom Welling or other actors from their Smallville contracts to shoot a Superman film. They basically told him no. An actor cannot do 12-14 hr workdays as a lead on a TV show with 20+ episodes each season for a majority of the year AND then also have time/health to shoot a Superman movie without a break. It’s either Smallville or film. Now it’s rare to have seasons that last 22 episodes or shows that get canceled/must be renewed each season, so it’s easier for productions to plan ahead.
His primary colour attire has always been really dumb but here with his ever developing chiselled jaw it looks especially awful and that boyish haircut. Props for consistency though. They really do Tom Welling a solid though when he starts wearing work attire.

Clois' slow burn romance was probably a two season build up that was delayed for five seasons.
