I was honored at each visit to be ask by Raymond to the stage to sing his closing song Will the circle be unbroken. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW Jesus as your savior to be in that circle. Much love to all of Our bluegrass family and friends. Oldfirekeeper 61 Great Smokey Mountains N.C. Love you all
What a treasure to bluegrass music that Raymond was! God Bless his soul. I hope that he and Earle are Picking for Our Lord ! He as such a treasure. May he rest in eternal Peace. I’m lucky to have a CD to listen to as well as so many wonderful videos to watch. RIP Raymond 🤙🤙🤙
RIP Raymond!!! I'd been there 2 times to the Opry house and the man was amazing and he would talk to you like he knew you all his life he was good man God rest his soul!!.. he was the best picker that I'd ever seen!!
I wrote him once and he answered. It was clear he didn't have much education, but he was very intelligent. What a creative mind. He thought of stuff nobody else had thought of. I have a CD of him.
I met Raymond on my birthday, August 10th, in 2003. He played a tune for my birthday during the concert (my wife had asked him to). I still have a photo of him that he signed. He was a truly incredible banjo player, and I feel honoured to have met him.
Rip Raymond. You’re the reason I started playing 5 string. I loved you then when he came down to visit many years ago. Still love you and no one will ever pick a banjo like you did .
I saw a VHS video of Mr. Fairchild about 25 years ago and He was telling a story about a lady that came up to him at a concert and said, "You ought to be ashamed with that snuff running down the sides of your mouth" And he said well lady who did these 10,000 people come to see you or me? It was all about the music. RIP Mr. Fairchild.
Oh my God! I didn't know he died! I'm just now seeing it here! He had a truly unique style that was a real pleasure to listen to. He will be missed. Thankfully his music will keep him alive in spirit.
We meet him once down at Bill Monroe camp ground. I always wish i would have purchased a quart of his wiskey and had him sign it and out on my desk just to remember him.
