The story behind this video, is that they filmed it on a wind-swept beach in the middle of winter in Japan. The Maids still wore their thin maid costumes for the shots and they were probably freezing their butts off. There are photos and outtakes from the video shoot that had them bundled in very thick insulated coats between the shots. At night, the fires and flares provide light for the shots and some harmth. Both Kanami and Akane both had their costumes singed from the fires. These maids will do whatever it takes to get their music out like strapping themselves to the top of moving cars for "Warning" and shooting cliffside scenes for "Influencer". Kanami is scared of heights. They are rock and roll troopers!
It's funny that even though a different composer wrote the music, it really sounds like something Kanami would write. I'm curious if she did the arrangement or the composer did it. I don't know enough about the music business to know if that's readily done. But just from listening to it, it sounds like something Kanami would do. Either way it's a real banger of a song. Just Band Maid being Band Maid and doing Band Maid things po.
Yeah maybe, (at least) on this album (released only six months after the previous _New Beginning),_ Miku explained that the band communicated their requests to the composers about what they were looking for _(Natalie,_ 2016). BTW, she also explicitly said that they chose the songs, suggesting that they were at least involved in the selection of the songs _(Natalie, Gekirock,_ ibid.). The arrangement is credited to its composer, Toshinari Ōnishi. About Ōnishi, Kanami said that "you." for the next _Just Bring It_ was a song that we really wanted to ask him to arrange, and it came to fruition _(HMV&BOOKS online,_ 2017). SAIKI said that "the non-fiction days" is her second favorite on the album, after "before yesterday" ("alone" is probably a different story, though). It seemed that "the non-fiction days" is "easy to put emotion on" _(OTOTOY,_ 2016).
That intro and outro guitar sound is extremely reminiscent of Hoobastank’s Crawling in the Dark. This is their late 90’s/early 00’s nu-metal track. From intro and outro to the heavy sounds to the melodramatic bridge before the solo just oozes that era and I absolutely adore it.
Great reaction! They're touring Japan this year - the dates are on their website. I'm praying that they'll be back in the States afterwards. I've seen them live twice and will be getting tickets for them as soon as they go on sale. You must get to one of their shows. Even better than you imagine.
Zack is back! Master Zack: The car race video would be the Band-Maid OMV for “Warning.” Another kick ass song. For some next level Band-Maid, try “From Now On” (OMV) ONSET (live) and SHAMBLES (OMV). Great to see you back reacting to our Maids!
Oh wow. Zack. I went through your playlist three times to be sure. Of course there are plenty of deeper cuts to enjoy from the massive Band Maid hit list…but two ginormous and important cuts were noticeably absent: “from now on” Stunned. This is the instrumental that was the lead single from the “Unleash!!!!!” album and the song they usually open festivals with. It’s the song that changed everything for me, personally. I never looked at them the same way after this. “Daydreaming” Only their third single, but remains cemented in their live setlists. How meaningful is it? They played it twice in their 10th Anniversary finale at Yokohama Arena.
Love to see you back to Band-Maid, Zack! My interpretation of this song is that it's about how we lie to ourselves about what we do and who we are (fictions)... but then there are days that we come clean to ourselves, the non-fiction days. And these days can be hard, especially the "heavy non-fiction days." I think your interpretation of the tea party is right, it's an example of when you might be lying about who you are. "Dont' fight myself!" Here's the amazing live version of this that's floating around, though I think it's a DVD rip, it's not from their channel: th-cam.com/video/Pyih5AaU02U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ruE4n8PHHrX_qIHx
If you want to see them live, yeah, you'll have to go to Japan, where they're scheduled out through June. Our hopes for a US or other world tour have been pushed back to the second half of 2025. Tempted to go to Japan, as I do not feel like waiting that long for a maybe. 😄
Here’s a killer live from that era. One of my favorite early Maid bangers! Hoobastank meets Motley Crue. th-cam.com/video/ujcqdKD6LBc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=w8Pbm2f1lvCEDeOq I’ll double check your playlist and see if there’s another brilliant gem you’ve missed 👍🏽

BAND-MAID'S The Non-Fiction Days = Their Ultimate PUMP-UP Song!! So stoked you found this song, Zack, it is criminally underplayed and doesn't get nearly the attention that it should. It's #1 on my "Get Pumped" playlist and one of my All-time favorite songs! Thanks once again for another great reaction and remember: Life is so much BETTER with BAND-MAID! 🤘😝🤘
My interpretation of the lyrics (note this was before Miku was writing their lyrics, this song is third party), is of someone lamenting having to live in the real world, preferring the safety and comfort of the fictional world they have created.
Loving this song 🔥❤️

This was like their second MV, they had IT even back then

still my fave
Life isn't real, it's just the Hatter tea party. And Kanami is taking you to the Wonderland.
5:05 Yes, Akane is beast...Akane is 🦍, Po! 🕊️

Can't beat live for band acoustics generally. Akane's drums always sound great live. She often puts a double hit on the snare between any changes.
How did u miss this , ur a maidiac po!
💜💛❤💙💚
🕊️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I always have that same shit eating grin on my face during Mincho's guitar solo.
Here’s a killer live from that era. One of my favorite early Maid bangers! Hoobastank meets Motley Crue.

A wildly underappreciated Band-Maid song.

Thanks once again for another great reaction and remember:

Art is open to interpretation. It's not static.
My interpretation of the lyrics (note this was before Miku was writing their lyrics, this song is third party), is of someone lamenting having to live in the real world, preferring the safety and comfort of the fictional world they have created.
This MV is awesome !!!!!! There are a few songs that the MV is better than live !!!! This is one of them....this is a total jam !!!
I have to disagree. This as the set closer for Studio Coast 2017 is fire.
I wonder if their translator translate for meaning or intent. But the Auto Generated Lyrics are always way off, not even close. It's just gibberish.
