Great video, I love Roach but nothing is quite like catching a big river Roach. Last September I had a Roach over a 1 1/2 lb from the river Wensum near Ringland, I didn't know there were still any like that in there these days. I was actually fishing for Chub.
I'm in my late 50s now and must have been fishing thousands of times. My most memorable session was on the River Ribble some 30 or so years ago. I had 25 roach weighing between 1lb and a personal best of 2lb 6oz. My friend on the next peg had a 2lb 15oz specimen that just blew me away.
Thats mega mate! Big river Roach are special. Steve's biggest was actually caught on the river Yare, we filmed a video on the Pole Feeder and had some really good fishing. The video is on our channel if you haven't seen it. :-)
I noticed the reels Steve is using are Matrix Aquos, I have one of those reels but surely those that you're using are a different version with baitrunners? And what rods was he using?
Thanks Lewis, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah they're the Microns, they're mega value for money. I had the old Microns for years and years (when I was a young'un!) they still work now, but decided to treat myself!
Great video looks a cracking fishery and would love a go at catching those big Roach, but if it's syndicate only that's no good. I won't join any syndicates close to where I live let alone far, much prefer day ticket fishing different places. My mate caught a 3lb Roach on the River Severn last year, was s beauty. Anyway keep them coming 👍

New to fishing. Question about river chub. Some days i fish floating bread and they take it all day and the next day nothing. Is this down to conditions or time or something?
Hi mate, it could be down to the weather/river conditions, air pressure. The fish could just not be hungry! Haha. If someone has fished the swim the day before and put lots of bait in etc There's so many variables, but I guess it's why it's called fishing and not catching. Haha! :-D
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV Lough Erne is the place to go for roach and bream if you're ever over here and want a really big bag. There are absolutely mammoth shoals in there you can draw in by pre-baiting.

Yes my dad had two 1 and a half pounders from the wensum just last year.
