    Elly, I was very happy about your neem soap tutorial because the materials used are all easy to access in tropical areas
    I'm also happy to share the fact that I finally made my very first batch of Tea Tree oil,Grapeseed Oil,Chanca Piedra tea soap.The base oils were 80% Coconut Oil, 20% Shea Butter with 20% SF.The resulting soap was so nice I'm inlove with it. It's very soothing to the skin and lathers well.
    Thank You Very much and may our Lord Jesus bless you always.

    I love seeing tropical recipes too and no fear of coconut oil lol. I have one recipe that has 66% coconut and it's brilliant! And I have dry skin type and very sensitive to detergents etc. I use a 16% SF for it and it doesn't dry the skin at all, it's lovely.

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking

      That's great to hear. I was surprised by how lovely this soap was. I don't know if I'd go higher than 40% coconut oil personally, but this, with the mild palm oil and 10% SF was perfect.

    Hi Elly.....I love using neem oil in all my soap....😊....... I guess it's just because of me being Indian and knowing the benefits of neem.....
    using neem oil@ 10% in any recipe will give you a brown colour even if you don't use neem powder that's what I've experienced.

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking
      @EllysEverydaySoapMaking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! I have made neem oil soap a few times before though and it wasn't dark brown like this. I even used more neem oil in my previous recipes. This is the first time I've used powder and first time it's gone dark brown, so I thought it was the powder (and it makes sense that it would). I'll have to try it without the powder now to see! Thanks for your input :)

      Hi Elly, your absolutely right...... My neem oil soaps don't turn this dark brown. Actually love, how dark brown the soap turned out to be.o definitely it's the neem powder..... and for sure I'm going to use it in my next neem soap. Thanks for all your videos and for all your experiments to get to formulating great recipes. And for freely sharing them with us.

    Hi Mrs. Elly, I love it, this gelled soap is truly beautiful. I had read before about the benefits of neem oil for hair, but I had never heard about benefits for skin, however it makes sense! It would have never crossed my mind about putting it in a soap bar. Also, other than one recipe for pure coconut oil soap, I don’t think I have any other soap recipe in my collection that doesn’t use any olive oil! This is fascinating. Thanks so much, you’re my #1 go-to for soap recipes and ideas; sending much love to you Down Under from Florida, USA.😊

    Talking about lye, I have been making soap for well over 45 years and I have never had an incident until recently. I have always kept a spray bottle of vinegar close by when making soap because vinegar deactivates the lye but I happen to have my gallon bottle of vinegar out as well that day, and I don’t know what happened but I splashed soap into both of my eyes that I had just added the lye to, and so I immediately bent backwards over the sink and filled my eyes with vinegar. It wasn’t pleasant, but it stopped any damage, so I highly recommend keeping vinegar around when you’re making soap.! I did see the eye doctor, and he said if it wasn’t for the vinegar, I would’ve lost both eyes! Lesson learned never be confident when doing something dangerous!!

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking
      @EllysEverydaySoapMaking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sorry to hear about your eye, but glad it is ok! The MSDS for NaOH doesn't suggest vinegar, but rather lots of water then to the doctor! Personally, I would avoid it altogether by always wearing goggles. I never make soap without complete eye coverage over my glasses.

    I’m with you, I love plain soap. The most I will do as to decorate the surface is to make a design within the surface, using a cake tester. Thus still leaving the surface relatively smooth, yet with an embossed design. Personally I think that those shmooshed-up tops would trap water in the hollows albeit they always look fun to do, appealing to the inner little girl 😊😊. Your Neem soap would be good for Pets too, methinks. 💗

      I've only used 10% neem oil in this recipe, so it doesn't impact on the speed of trace. It was the relatively lower temperatures of my oils and lye that kept the trace slow.

      @@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you very much. This one is a little different, it is thicker, viscous and very green... I use it in my organic garden. I thought that maybe it doesn't saponify.🤔

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking
      @EllysEverydaySoapMaking  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I've never used senna powder. I would check a soap calculator and see if you can recalculate the recipe. Senna oil most likely has a different fatty acid profile compared to neem oil, so will need a different lye amount.

    I realized that just because the soap mass is dense and thick, it is not certain that it will be a hard soap, or that it will set the next day at all. And I don't understand why, but when I cook it, it doesn't gel for me, but it releases the water. It will be like dry cow's curd that has been soaked in water.😢

      Yes you absolutely can! I think the benefits would be the same. CP soap gets pretty hot too through the gel phase. I'd just add the neem at the start with the other oils.

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking

      Palm kernel oil is like coconut oil and saponifies very hot! They can volcano if made too hot. I'm not sure what you mean by 40% lye discount. You may want to check out my soap formulation playlist for clarification to ensure you're using a correct and safe method for devising your soap recipes.
