- Before we started the V Twin build, we decided to slap together an electric go kart. Ike bought the go kart chassis for $25, and we only had to buy $3 of additional parts. We mainly used stuff we had laying around!

@carsandcameras I've been following the channel for a few years now, and a member for a bit now, and I don't think I've ever seen a follow up to/actual electric build after this one 😔 would certainly love to see one these days now that you guys are really starting to make it big! 💜

+Muscle Maniac def. not the first. i also saw this electric gokart that had an electric motor for each wheel, so 4 total, it was an electric system, and theyre was also a gas engine on it which when turned on acted as a generator boosting the voltage to the motors, it was insane

think you can put together a legit electric go-cart with brakes and decent-ish power and used parts?
+Silas Farseer I'm sure, but we don't have a sufficient motor on hand. I've heard a tractor trailer starter motor will do really well, but we don't have one.
+CarsandCameras Maybe try a hybrid setup with a brushless AC motor and an engine to charge a battery or capacitors

CarsandCameras true, maybe try just taking the "cart" piece of it, cut the rest off to make it lower, and use the handle as a spoiler. Just an idea, thanks!

Do it! My first "hot rod" was a 36 volt john deere electric riding lawn mower my father bought for $50 at an estate auction when I was 11 years old. The thing was dreadfully slow until we figured out that we could swap the tiny pulley off the electric motor with the much much larger pulley on the transmission. That thing would MOVE!

instead of a starter for a motor, do a washing machine motor
remember that is 110 - 240v and AC not DC Alternating current does not come from batteries. now many washing machine motors will run on DC however those are meant for high RPM and very low torque
The electric revolution has begun! I'd love to see you guys build a proper electric kart. You could even do 4 wheel drive with hub motors. Lead-acid works pretty good, but lithium is where it's at!

I think an electric gokart would be awesome! Not that I'd have any interest in one ever myself, but they're pretty cool. I'm the kind of person who'd go for a motorcycle engine for a kart.

New intro awesome! And yes you should totally build an electric go kart if you can find a electric scooters for kids second hand with charger you can use the motor and batteries most of them are 24v and strong. I built an electric mini chopper out of one and put 7 batteries 84v to one of those motors and in handled it just fine but with out the control/charging system
