Only just found this video in 2022. You think you're going really quickly.........then suddenly a top rider comes past on something that sounds like a jet. The reason for that sound basically is, that it has the same number of firing pulses as a 12 cylinder 4 stroke engine but no reciprocating masses. I used to do a party trick on one of Norton's old roadgoing air cooled bikes. You would have the engine running and place a 50p piece on end, on the fuel tank and you could rev the engine and get little more than a slight wobble. They were that smooth. Try that on a piston engine bike and the coin will just fall over.
WOW,this man had supreme confidence in the front end-and i noticed he entred all the corners in one or two gears higher than evreyone else!!that was supreme!-unreal!-much respect
This man is way to fast for the normal street riders on track... they do stupid and dangerous things on track... Not smart to have such speed diference at same time on track
I was at that weekend trackday, lucky to have great bikes and weather for the 2 days. Best bit was some in this group thought they were fast. At Joshs level you might not be as fast as you thought, Great to see the Norton stretch its legs again !!!
What a moron is this the same bloke fell off at Brands Hatch at the weekend racing himself? Obviously cant read or tell the time and still doesnt appear to notice he's gone out in the wrong group. Thats funny. Would have to be incredibly selfish with a fervent disregard for other peoples safety if he did realise. AL
Simon, he's testing/running in on a track day, with average joe bar riders and yourself (assuming you was actually there - I doubt it); I hope your ego doesn't pop like your motor will at some point, then again, when it does, you might begin to learn something.
Good on ya Simon! The Lounge Chair Critics surely could help you Knock 10 seconds off your Lap Times!! Frikken Monday's Experts!! Never Done a Fkn Thing in their Lives! - What Bike & Class are you Runnin'? P5? I have an '85 GSX-r750 & '86 1100 I'd love to have a Dip @ the Island some day!! -Cheers👍😉
Simply beautiful, the funny other thing is, with the camera (& mic') so far forward, the engine and exhaust noise going around Donny, sounds extremely reminiscent of the old Nissan Primera BTC cars engine and gearbox whine for some harmonic tonal reason.
Make a hole, gents! Good fun watching Josh tiptoe through those clusters of cluelessness, then drop the hammer on 'em. And what a motorbike! The sound alone would spray a guy with the red mist.
Great to hear that motor again,is it the same rotary motor as the one Trevor Nation raced?Didn`t they have heat extraction ducts on the exhaust?Would have been nice to have been shown around the bike too.The Hillman Imp switch on the dashboard is a nice touch :) Good to see they got an Aussie on-board,but whose idea was it to put all those lardy chicanes on the track...on their old "superbikes" out for a Sunday afternoon wobble? He eased her in ,opened her up a little and then eased her back...wonder what the temps got up to and what they can be revved to,above the 8-9,occasionally 10 he was using.Quick as it was.The greeter in the pit wasn`t happy about something. One quick trackday rider appeared towards the end,we were cheated of seeing JB pass him.
Great work guys and excellent hearing the bike getting a great run in such good conditions. Very much looking forward to seeing how you guys go at the Classic TT. Best of luck against those fake Classic XR69 replicas.
Youchoob1 Yep the "XR69" replicas are using Gixxer 1100 motors!! How is that fair? They should have Gsx1100 not GSX-r1100 Oil Cooled 'Specials' may as well just Run 1100 Slabbies! Good to see Brooksy on the Norton, that thing is still a Rocket - Would love to throw a Leg over that thing!! -Cheers👍😉
Razor sorry to dissapoint but afraid I was there for the endurance race, yes I did ride and no motor still intact. My comments were not sarcastic just an observation. The groupings were as applied for in advance so I guess the point I was making apart from how good it was to see and hear a rotary is how fast and safe a top rider is. Yep I am an ordinary Joe as you comment. I bet you have launched down bray hill more times than I a d have more river replicas also.Good luck for June next year.
has this engine engine break? it is fantastic that you keep tese engines alive, hope to see a production bike once again, the f1 was so expensive back in those days.
just thought of something seeing you could never over rev a rotary engine as its got no valves then it is possible to take it to 16,000 rpm,i had a tz350 with electron carburators and I took that to 16,000 and I had a constant powerband I had to change gearing from the original setup and it was so fast, hope wiznorton racing reads this comment
WTF? Are you drunk? 16k on a TZ350? I don't think so. I've owned and raced a number of TZ350s and the cranks won't last long revved to 12k. Realistically 11k is it. Lectron (that's what they're called not "electron") carbs do not overcome design limitations of an engine.
The rotary, sounds like a mix of70% two stroke and rest 4 strroke, its a fantastic sound , a dream race bike for classics
Brilliant always a pleasure to hear especially with a racer like Josh on board

Gearing sounded just about spot on, wasn't expecting MAD SUNDAY,
Race Plan:
1. Pass everyone you see in front of you.
2. Repeat Rule 1 as necessary.
Gotta love the Nortons...
Is it a jet, is it superman? No its rotarty Norton! Love it, bring it to IOMTT 2020 :)
i love the 588 charge cooled rotary
Вот это я понимаю работа двигателя! А ж мурашки по коже!! Супер, супер, супер.
Everything Josh rides he gives all his effort.
Excellent engine sound ....

Completely incorrect. Nothing like the RML primera sound...

you ride it so smooth
Those minimal vibration make it look like an electric bike
Amazing
Jesus that man is going well on her. 👍
BEAST!!!!
Super over lap 🔥🔥🔥
Great to hear the bike, but the differential in speed and abilities in that group was making me nervous for the bike, even with Brookes at the helm 😬
I believe he passed everyone two or three times. Insane power
what 2 stroke oil is the nrv588 using since it is oil injected
Awesome
this is like watching a video game where the opponents settings are turned fully down...
Wow!
Oh my God!
super bike and super rider
Mazda should have got Norton to design their rotary engines for their cars they seem to have it down .
6 speed?
Nos 10 mil giros a moto da imprensão que trava a injeção eletrônica não vai mais 🤔
It's a Nortary.
Parece que lleva un F1 contra puras GP2 solo faltaron las banderas azules
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋💪💪✌️
PISTON YOU ARE A BAD LOOSER TO THE ROTARY POWER
))))
12a with a dog box hmmm
You think ur fast then Josh comes past you on the Norton 🤣
ฌ
Я по городу на своем так же спорт байке херачу
