I was lucky enough to see these in their heyday. I remember pre-JPS too, think it was silver, red and blue. It pulled the longest wheelie across the finish line I had ever seen up to that point. T. Nation riding, I think.

Have seen the JPS Nortons and Hizzy's White charger up close, such small bikes but the 588cc Wankel engine generated mind boggling power. Relied on Brute force to get the job done. They were absolute Rocketships. Incredible machines. At their brutal best on fast circuits like Thruxton, Snetterton, I o M, NW 22. and all this power from a tiny 588cc. Mind blowing. Wish they were still around.

Was chatting to Trevor Nation at Brands in October and I was saying how fast the Norton’s were then Trevor went on to say that any road bike from 2000 on would wipe the floor with the Norton’s! That’s technology for you

Brilliant footage. Saw these guys at Castle Combe, man those Nortons were quick. Jamie Whitham had a great go at them but as soon as got on the straight, boom they zipped past him 👍

@@puckle69 they certainly were, hometrack was snetterton and the Nortons were super fast down the back straight great footage of them closing and passing down that straight. Jim was handy on the Suzuki

I was there for the last Race of Aces (must have been 1980/1) on the long circuit down the Norwich straight to the hairpin. Back then one of europe's fastest tracks. Winner that day was the late Dave Potter.

@@philbraithwaite1316 snetterton always been fast circuit, remember the old norwich straight on only 2 occasions with the tight hairpin, must have been some great racing then and great names.

@@alanflack Indeed, great memories. I even remember Barry Sheene flying in on his helicopter at one ROA meeting just to have a chat in the commentary box with Mick Grant between races. Great times.

They were certainly quick in a straight line, not so great handing round the corners
