I agree with Stephanie it’s very red and I don’t like the spray varnish finish ….but it’s a good size and looks good with a tablecloth !!
I think that table looks *WAY* better than the one you had before, especially without the table cloth (looks nice with it too, but without it makes the chateau look more like a chateau). I understand the worry about getting crumbs (and some spillage?) on the rug, but that room absolutely needed a rug. That tile is too rough for such a nice dining area and was too rough on those chairs. I know the quality of the table wasn't good, but it *looks* quality, and really elevated that room. Well done.
I know you feel it's a little bit grand, but I absolutely love that table without a tablecloth! It really pulls the wood tones together, and grounds the room. It reads very breakfasting-at-a-country-house!

Amaury is hilarious reining in his temper. Phillip … when will they realize you’ve never failed in your improvements. That table is awesome. Even with the previous owners Shenanigans. And when dinner was served it looked stunning. The rug was perfect. I slap you on the back. 😂
what I love about this particular chateau channel is the make-do attitude. When Philip said the table might not be their forever table, but would be just fine as their for-a-long-time table I thought what an admirable mindset.
Sorry Philipp no hard feelings but when I see the new table I think of the German saying "Ein Griff ins Klo" which translates to „a grasp into the toilet“ and is an informal way of describing a decision that turned out poor. I like the wonderful country style table a lot better and think that you will never be able to use the new, huge table without hiding it with a huge cloth. Shit happens. I am sure one day you will find a wonderful table that suits the room perfectly with Stephanie in France!
Looks Phillip and Marie proved me wrong in next video. Does look better with the breakfast set&clothes but I would still recommend to continue the search for a big country style table that fits better before big red falls apart.
I thought Stephanie’s dinner dress was perfect for the new Von Trapp family villa-sized table and I was kind of imagining her skipping in to the dining room singing “Schnitzel with green beans and spaetzle with noodles, creamy whipped topping with crisp apple strudels, a selection of fine wines that’s fit for wise kings, these are a few of my favorite things.” But no, dinner was much enjoyed by all apparently without the hint of a song and ended on a high note with another of Marie’s extraordinary desserts.
I think many people would have waited an extra day or two to use the table after a repair instead of using it the same night. No wonder Nati was stressed. That must be some quick drying epoxy!
Amaury is so good! And I totally agree with him (as I do on most things!) about the rug. It looks warm and will reduce any clatter and noise. Much better for dinnertable conversations. The table looks great too.
“Nothing you buy Stephanie is ever usable “ in case you did not hear what Amaury said with a straight face as he squatted under the broken new table. I adore the old table, why was that always covered up? Loved Molly sitting under the table to hide the damage!! Namaste 🙏
@@tumbleweeduk7479 The old table’s extension leaves were plain mdf so they could not leave the table bare and the table was also restricted in length. Philip also purchased the new table to reduce the high laundry bills by being able to use placemats for breakfasts and lunches.
I am not an expert but I suspect that table will need two more sets of legs towards the middle, to keep it from sagging. My family used to have a very, very long antique table and its built-in legs were more evenly spaced.
Thank you so much for the tour through the English garden. Love what Brian is doing with the gardens. it looks like you were able to get the wood chips that were needed. Yay! As far as the rest goes, I'm not a fan of too much stuff or perhaps "busyness" is the better word. Understand the need for a rug and it may be due to how my computer screen does color, but the rug looks very blue and not working with the rest of the colors in the room. It's a lovely rug and the dining room needs one. Just not sure that's the one. Speaking of winter, what is going on with the heating system? Best to all.

My dog's favorite place is under a gigantic Chippendale table. I love the grand Chippendale chair that doesn't match the others. My adopted Himalayan cat who has been ferile, had to be inside, recovering from an injury. His first choice was under my bed. My Lhaso Apso/Maltese dog from the street, was in attack mode, considering under the bed as HIS domain. So the cat chose under the table as his next choice. Thought Angel would start another attack. So the cat had to be isolated three days in my dressing room. He meowed in desperation throughout the night. Finally, his injury was closed with glue, and he can be outside again. Thinking if Sir Galahad ever decides to take the new table as a fortress, it will be hard to get him to surrender it, too. I so enjoy the company of the videos. I can see how healing Sir Galahad has been.
We had our very long mahogany table made wider because we love wine…my husband owns a shop. We had runners made to match placemats…so glasses would not ruin the wood.
Hi Stephanie and all, I suggest for the first dinner with new guests, use a tablecloth, if you can find one that fits. On the second night no tablecloth. The new table adds elegance to a grand room and the addition of the carpet also elevates the room. Our dining table with all leaves and fully extended seats 18 comfortably. The way that Phillip lays the table and Maria does the flowers, always looks elegant. Now the new table adds just a bit more to the room and to be able to extend it that much to accommodate larger groups keeps everyone in the picture. It may take time to get used to the new look in the room, but eventually, you just love it. Mark & Scott
A carpet in the dining room is a great idea. A very large sisal rug will create a more contemporary yet rustic look, suitable for such a rural chateau, complimenting your wall paper and new chairs. Your chateau would benefit from a 21st Century chateau aesthetic, a paired back luxury that allows key pieces to shine, a direction I feel you are moving toward. The 'new' chintzy blue/pink, floral rug is too fussy and clashes with rather than supports your design scheme and table scapes. What you have accomplished in the recently renovated marquess suite is lovely.
I loved the dress you put on and the color especially. Table worked out in the end didn't it. Thanks Amaury for all you do there they are so fortunate to have you.
