      Totally useless review. You cant hear what a decent tone sounds like nor how it sounds to play actual music. Smh. If the dude is also the owner he should hire an actual musicist/expert to review the musical instruments instead of doing this....

      Yes. There are two inputs in the back of the head. One input jack for each speaker you connect with a 1/4 inch jack

    • @rickleblanc8900
      @rickleblanc8900 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can. However, i believe this amp is designed to put out 100 watts at 4 ohms so your 2 cabs need to be 8 ohms each to achieve maximun power from the amp.

    I bought this half stack about 3 years ago and I have never been able to dial in a good tone with it. It was cheap and at the time I was a beginner, but since then I got a Marshall DSL 40 combo and it is FAR better being a tube amp compared to the solid state. I like the Cab , but the head to me is less than stellar. I don't use the effect's on it as I use my board instead, but even with the board and great pedal's it still sounds muddy and just not all that good. As far as a solid state amp with effect's on board My Fender champion 100 blows this amp away.

  • @UnremarkableMarx

    So are the eq and preamp in anyway analogue? Or is it a computer. I just need this to power a 1960a. Most of my amp tone, distortion and preamping is on my board. But would this sound organic when I'm dead clean on this thing with a gretsch or strat ? Thanks

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Bobby. The amp is solid state so it's entirely analog except for the digital effects that are built-in. This could certainly work with a 1960A cab. The clean is going to be subjective from person to person. It won't have quite the warmth or dynamics of a tube amp, but it will still have a nice clean sound that should work well with pedals.
      Thanks for your interest!

    • @quietcrowd
      @quietcrowd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It doesn't cost as much as a tube amp, and doesn't need to have anything replaced as often. You don't need to plug into the speaker if you want to use your headphones, and as a plus, the headphone jack works as a Line Out - meaning you can plug into an interface or a digital studio if you wanted to, but you might need a 1/4 inch adapter for that.

      To correctly answer your question: Yes it requires a load like tube amps. On the back of this Marshall MG100HCFX It says "connect speaker before use", "min total impedance 4 ohms", and it has two 1/4" speaker outputs.
      It has an 1/8" headphone jack on the front "Face" of the amp.
      So both Randy and Jack Finn are wrong! Especially jack, he gave bad advice that could damage the amp head.

    The big difference between Marshall and Orange, is that Marshall also makes amazing "cheap" heads for the avarege player. Orange on the other hand, when they try to make cheaper versions of popular amps, they steal important features from the amps. For example, this amp has a foot stwitch. Some orange´s cheap amps don´t have a foot swtich cause they don´t even have a dirty channel. To get to the dirty channel you have to play with the volume and gain. The sound is still amazing, but it´s a pain in the ass for those who prefer to use the amp´s true gain instead of an overdrive/distortion pedal and want to use it on a small gig

    Played through one of these at a studio last night - awful. Very metallic sounding and low power / volume. Had to turn up the gain and master vulumes way more than the MG100HDFX I owned years ago. That wasn't anything special either.
    They just don't compare to Fender SS amps such as the Frontman 212R. Especially for gigs.

      i wouldn't worry about the amp, it would be the audio interface i would be concerned with at that point. You either need a di box or if this amp has an aux or something then you could use that to record, but it would sound horrible without some sort of cabinet simulation
