I see the vision with the pirate dress. Corset top, layered skirt. It was a lovely dress and the bride looked beautiful!
That bodice was gorgeous and she had the colouring and figure to carry it off. She looked gorgeous, and the white with her dark hair looked amazing.
Pirates or not that dress was beautiful on her!

That last bride shouldn't have been trying on mermaid cut gowns if she wanted to be able to play hockey in her dress. The correct cut would have been an A-line with a traditional waist. It sounded like she only tried one A-line, and it was "too frilly" for her.

@jemmaj2919 There's only so much a consultant can do when the only input the bride makes (that we see, of course) is that she wants to play hockey in it. If the consultant has never seen a hockey game, she probably has no idea what to bring, so the bride should've explained the necessities behind her request.

While it's so fun watching the different versions of Say Yes To The Dress, I'll never understand why the out of the box brides, or unlimited budget families often don't get something custom designed in the first place. Then it can be whatever you actually want instead of frankenstening what you want out of already made dresses 🤷♀️

The hockey bride might be happy in a bustier and pants, with a removable overskirt. I don't know if that option was even available when that episode was filmed.
I was thinking either a tea length gown, or a different reception dress if she wants a long one for the ceremony

It seems like the consultant for the last bride wasn't listening to her at all. Why put her in so many fitted dresses? Was there nothing A-line or tea length in the entire store?
Pirate dress looked great on her. The one her friends chose made her look like a fat 50s, going to the prom
Thank God the entourage for the second bride had the sense to talk her out of the hideous gown she wore the first time.
I appreciate her not wanting to look like everyone else, but that first dress looked like she got trapped in the curtains and just kept walking.

Why would the consultant give the bride, who wants to play hockey in her dress, fitted dresses? That makes NO sense. There are lots of flared or ball gown styles that the bride could move or skate in.

The last bride looked great in all the dresses she wore; too bad none of them worked out. Maybe she should have gone for a gown with a removable overskirt which was short underneath that.
This episode was filmed a long, long time ago. I don't even know if there were designers who had over skirts then.

As a seamstress that has worked on all 4 of her sister/sister in laws wedding dresses, (including my own) making them how each imagined them to be I would have loved the challenge of creating the hockey players gown!

Solely based on how they associated pirate to anchor, I would say they were thinking like the dresses that you see in the historical romance covers. Corseted with gathered skirts.
the last girl needed a bridal jumpsuit with an over skirt that could be removed after the wedding ceremony. They did that for another girl who was going skydiving after the ceremony.

If the only thing the brides are interested is the "different " ceremony(nightclub, hockey, scuba dive etc.) Why even have the wedding? I thought the "events" were supposed to be the reception.

That hockey thing was weird. Why did they put her in mermaid gowns? I can think of 8 gowns that I've seen brides actually wear on this very show that would work so much better. She needed something flowy and not as long. That could have been an easy appointment.

I suggest a pant suit attire more appropriate for a hockey or any other sport type wedding games.

If I walk in to a bridal appointment and ask them for an odd thing and they show me a weird judgemental face, I would just leave. It's not their place to express their opinion, but to try to accommodate it without judgement

this is a TV show though. Those reactions are required and are coached by the production team. Likewise, they coach the brides to make those requests
I'm sure you're probably well aware that all this is nothing but hyped up "entertainment, meant for nothing more nor less than to make gullible viewers all simp, ooky, and up in arms about the brides' choices. In real life, the staff of bridal salons don't give a rat's rump what a bride wants; if she wants to find a dress made of toilet paper sheets, they'll do their best to accommodate her bizarre request, and get on with their lives.
It's very well documented all over the Internet that all "reality" tv shows are nothing but lies and hype, and this one show is one of the biggest in that way of doing things.
Randy himself typically gets decent reviews, but even he has said that the producers and directors who show up to film have all the say about the way the entourages interact with the brides, and it's typically just a bunch of unbelievable garbage (he didn't use the word garbage, but it's the perfect word for the foolishness of these shows).

If you've ever wondered why the divorce rate is so high in this country, watch this video. These brides seem more interested in putting on a show than in beginning a new life with the man they love. JMHO
I agree and I think that is why those who have more simple and budget friendly weddings have longer and more blissful marriages. But those who throw their life savings into a big wedding end up in divorce a short time later. Those who throw big weddings just want to show off and focus too much on putting on a show rather than have a happy and blissful marriage.

I get so irritated by the friends who don't allow the bride to get what she wants, but who insist in forcing them into something they're not into just because it's more traditional! If a bride says she wants to look like a pirate, I'm not sure how Randy comes to the conclusion that "she's going for that damsel in distress look." Seems like those are two very different things.
Cuz she's not wanting the real pirate male attire she's saying, but the captured females seen on pirate harlequin romance books. Corset with layered " torn skirts" and streaming up down hair do, looking for rescue by the military ship men in uniform. So randy is correctly understanding the dimwitted wrong word to mean the distressed maiden look on a pirate ship, vs dressing like a pirate.
