the USB-C output may have a 12v PD output mode up to 5 amps, it's non standard but most high end chargers and power banks chose to include it. If it does you can get a USB-C to any kind of 12v output cable you want.

Highly informative video. This system will work great for those of us who are motorcycle campers with TH-cam channels. Combine this with the new Starlink Mini and you can perform live chats in the field or do editing and uploading in field without waiting to get home or to a location with public wifi. Have got a friend who does bushcraft videos and he sees an advantage to having live chats in the field and answering questions and performing tasks requested by subscribers.

I wasn't trying to show off, brag, or pass it off as genuine, I just wanted to see if it fit my requirements and how it would sit with me before I spent money on the real thing (without the SA staring at you). Yes, I could imagine using one of those Bluetti power stations in one of personal vehicles and storing them under my driver's or passenger seat on an "as needed" basis. For example, as a source to heat a blanket or a smaller cooler/fridge. Separately, an option to purchase either backpack would be ideal, as well. I can imagine possibilites for other applications. A few year's ago I bought the Blueti ac300? It was a decent little unit, and did work quite well, until it didn't.
I was using it in a remote wilderness area, I had set it up charging from solar and had placed the small solar generator inside a heavy-duty garbage bag, inside my tent. While away from camp and the power station it started to snow, rain, hail, etc.
I hurried back to camp, to find the solar panel in a tree, the garbage bag blown off, and the tent collapsed
Was it a micro burst? Or similar, it wrecked the camp, and unfortunately the Blueti power station got wet, which killed the unit.
At home I took the unit apart to see what had failed and to see if it could be repaired, from my perspective none of the circuit boards had any conformal coatings, or any potted boards.
Once the water had hit these unprotected circuit boards it caused them to fail. Which isn't a fault of Blueti per say, however now that they've come out with a backpack unit that is marketed to outside adventures, it would be nice to know if they are any more resistant to water intrusion than what I had experienced.
I understand I took a risk taking the Blueti outside in the elements, and it failed.
That said looking at this backpack/power station set up, it doesn't inspire me to waste $, the pack looks okay, yet it looks like it would leak like sieve, and the units look unprotected from the elements.
Ideally a power station in the wild, would be rather overbuilt to handle mother nature, so I made my own diy kit, using off the shelf components, and a Apache 5800 case from harbor fraught, I can pack it in, set it up, then walk away, knowing that it's in a waterproof case, that can be cached underground if needed. So I don't have to keep carrying it back and forth, as I frequently use this remote camp.
It looks like Blueti is on the right path, yet only is half way there. Offer a hardshell or a custom dry bag with a proper roll top closure to keep the sensitive electronics dry. Otherwise it's just more fluff from China/CCP 🇨🇳.

I can definitely see a good use for this product. In the recent weeks with hurricane Helene many rescue volunteers have had to trek over mountains doing welfare checks and this would be valuable to carry a gmrs radio or small ham rig. The larger unit must have a 12 volt socket! Also what’s the combine weight? Definitely a good idea for a rescue worker where a medical device may need to be powered. I’d love to have one if it had 12 volts!

    • @TobyCostaRica
      @TobyCostaRica 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

As a power station user (lots of them), and a HAM you have enough battery power on those devices to last all day and not to haul these heavy things around. I'd rather have a second back up radio. Spare batteries are much smaller. The handsfree weighs 11lbs!
The recently released Anker C300 DC only station at $150 is a better choice if you need to roam around with this much power on you but I can't think of a medical device a SAR person that would be using that needs this amount of power. Or isn't self powered already like an IED. The C300 DC is very efficient self consumption wise too.
I can see this being used to power a mobile fridge packed away somewhere a regular station wouldn't fit in a overland setup or someone that needs to power a laptop all day where a vehicle can't get to.

My EB3A fits nice and snug in my backpack, but I wish this was out when I bought mine. Not needing to unzip the backpack wide open in order to ise the AC in and USB type C out would be real handy sometimes. Might even convince me to use it for some of my ham radio hikes.

With the laptop compartment, I can also see a great use of a Starlink Mini dish.
The backpack by itself is also amazing. Great new product combo.

Being an avid urban photo/video ebike nomad guy, I really need these! The backpack along got my attention, but the fact that they are also power stations is great! I do wish they offered a 12v jack on the larger one, but I'll just crack it open and add my own. I'm going to want to draw more DC wattage out of what they offer on the inverters anyways......
With that being said, I'll probably just wait to find a used backpack and make my own powerpack.

Some, but not all, USB C PD ports can produce 12v, if the right "trigger" cable or adapter is used. The limit will probably be 3 or 5 amps.
These gadgets can be small and cheap, because the USB port does the hard part.
The cable I bought (FARSENSE) works, but is no longer available. It looks like HKY makes an improved version. They both use
a button to select one of the few available voltages, and an LED display to show the selection. Other products do just one voltage.
There are nice adjustable DC-DC converters, as well. Today I used one to top off car batteries at 14.0v from a USB C port, and another to
    charge an 80v yard-tool battery from a 12v jack.

Since this product is designed to be portable, providing a backpack to do so will most likely extend the life of the unit in general. Too often we see carrying bags filling closets because they outlast the product that they came with. The padded backpack is a clever way to extend the lifetime of both. But, I lived most of my life as a road warrior and my perspective is that of one who constantly had to find solutions to the challenges that lifestyle demands.

100% right. Don't need the backpack, wouldn't by the 700 without the DC. I would buy them otherwise. I do already have 5 Bluetti solar powerstations so I do buy thier products.

yeah i agree. they should have removed the A usb ports and added 12dc barrel plug. also i would like a version that is dc only. no 110v output is needed for many things these days.

These would make more sense if they focused on DC charging, and dropped the AC ports altogether. Make it smaller and lighter. Then it becomes a viable option for backpack camping with a cpap machine.

Maybe they sell the backpacks separately but not the powerstations because of the ventilation built into the backpacks ?
Buy the backpack, use it for whatever. Buy the powerstation, must use their own backpack to ensure proper ventilation. AKA only use their backpack so that they cut down on warranty claims due to people stuffing these into non-ventilated backpacks and overheating them.

You are correct, I could make fine use of the larger one if it had a 12v DC to DC output like its little brother. It doesn't make sense to plug a DC power supply into the AC inverter, dontchaknow, and for my use-case I need 12v.

  • @BUYBOTH
    @BUYBOTH 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I agree, for the intended purpose a UPS doesn't make sense. I'd even take it a step further and question the need for an AC inverter. Who takes an AC appliance into to woods? In the woods its a DC world. Space is limited in a backpack and you feel every ounce you have to lug.

  • @wheelerk2012

that thin form factor is almost thin enough to use as UPS behind my fridge. I don't need the DC or water proof for that, so maybe next year they'll make an even thinner one for UPS only application

Hear me out, 60L that has quick rail options, and a rack focused master unit thats say 1400w output(i only need 300 but others might need more).
Get them both installed in your home rack with a simple DC bridge in the front, then when you want to go out, take the secondary unit with you without needing to disconnect your rack from UPS
(edit this is what i currently have to do if i want to take my power bank with me)
Pulling the 60L from the rack just reduces the capacity, and maybe the available solar charge rate though for a solution like this i'd like to make sure the main unit was charging both so that if i tune my array for the rack, removing this pack doesnt mean increasing wall power draw.

As a hiker, these are absurdly heavy, not including the weight of the backpack which makes the system even heavier.
Also as a Overlander truck camper, anything below 1000 watts is not very useful for a multi day trip.
Also, no mention of vibration protection and daily wear and tear has me believing these are going to break... A Lot...and Bluetti is notorious for bad customer service.
This product is DOA as presented.
