    They look great! As a long time fly tyer I recommend you make dubbing brushes or dubbing loop before hand, Once you have the brushes tied up you could literally tie a fly a minute.

    Awesome looking jig Chuck. I love your layering technique. Bucktail jigs are my favorite lures, I'll have to try tying with those synthetics. Thanks.

      Thank you Joe, I've made these as small as 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 oz for some friends of mine that bass fish, and then for myself like I sit in the video I will do 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1 ounce.

      @@chuckmasonfishingmichigan Yeah, the 3 on the low end are my speed with 1/4 being the Goldilocks size where I fish. Those Ultra heads are beautiful too. Thanks again.

    I scored some various size Minnow heads at a swap meet(300-500) for $15 a few months back, now I know what to do with them and the pattern !
    Just bought some property on the Missouri river last week in North Dakota, I can see plenty of R&D time for sure
    Great video !

      Appreciate that Mark, you did score on those jigs at your swap meet! Erie is opening up over here and it will not be long for the walleyes to start snapping these up. Such a great way to catch fish!

    Nice jig! I LOVE craft fur. It holds up so much better than marabou and has just as much action. A quick note- I noticed you left the underfur in the clumps after cutting them from the backing. A lot of people will comb that stuff out and save it for dubbing or just toss it. For your application, that would be a big mistake! That underfur gives the longer stuff more body and allows it to "breath" like you were talking about. I do have patterns where combing it out is crucial tho. I'll be making a video soon on an original pattern I make, I think you walleye guys will really go nuts for it! Keep an eye out for it, I call it a Top Knot.

      It is not, I use several combinations, in this case it is craft fur and polar fibre

      It's more of a spring approach, right now I would suggest pulling crawlers

    do you liquid paint or powder paint coat your jigs?

    • @chuckmasonfishingmichigan
      @chuckmasonfishingmichigan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I powder paint, in the video I mention TJ's Tackle (www.tjstackle.com) they are an excellent source of powders and other types of equipment you might want to get started👍

    Where you get your fur from and is there a length to ask for

    • @chuckmasonfishingmichigan
      @chuckmasonfishingmichigan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get it from a lot of different places, looking for who actually has something in stock and what the best price is. Start with Hareline Craft Fur and I believe it is 4" in length.
