The Lariat is actually the 4th trim from the top of the range (just above XLT). In North America the King Ranch, Platinum and Limited are above the Lariat.
I had the F150 in the US for over a month mostly off-road the whole time. I can say a stiffer suspension setup would be a must for me if I was to buy one. In saying that it's so plush onroad. I think id go with a fox 2.5 set up if I did swap out the suspension.
From the states, 2023 F150 ecoboost, when towing lock out 10th, 9th and sometimes 8th when towing, keeps rpm around 2200 at 70 mph/112 kph and doesn't labor quite as much and improves fuel consumption when towing.
@@TyFenwick it’s in the owners manual, I’ve got an ‘18 f150 XLT with the HD tow pkg. it’s a class 4 receiver (good for 11,000 lb I think) I believe the 5000 lb limit is with all of the truck models, XL thru Limited
Awesome review! Can the F150 4x4 be lifted? let's say 2" lift to accommodate bigger (AT or MT) tires and what's the maximum pay load increase can be modified to. Lastly can front and rear diff locker be installed, all while at the conversion factory?TA
Ordered mine way last year when I got my raptor. Now been told they’re on hold due to safety issues 🤷♂️ Was due Christmas apparently but never eventuated.
Great truck with some fantastic features, though it is hard to justify the price tag with a Ford badge on it. The deal breaker for me, is no diesel engine, which would’ve been a perfect match for the intended purpose of the vehicle for heavy towing. An equivalent sized twin turbo diesel engine would have much more torque low down where you need it & superior fuel economy (very important in Oz). Curious of what the cost would be without the conversion to RHD? I’m guessing $50K if not more?
It is a vehicle intended for the Canadian and US markets and the EPA makes it very difficult to put diesels in anything as small as an F150. You need to get above 8,500 lbs GVM/GVWR before a diesel is offered. In Ford, the F250 is the lightest vehicle that you can get a diesel in and the diesel option is a 6.7L v8.
Disappointing Ford is charging way too much for the Lariat costing over 150k to drive away, no way 50 grand more better than the base model at around 100K drive away. These cars are only 69 grand in AUD in the USA remember , they are known for being cheap trucks over there , but here in Australia costing Range Rover money .Be interesting to see Toyota responding with Tundra if they get greedy or be competitive as a cheaper alternative ?
The Lariat optioned similarly to the version that Australia is getting is right around $75,000 in the US. Without options the Lariat starts at $65,800 USD.
You didnt mention what the warranty is. P P 3 year warranty? No fuel consumption figures? And as P C was there is he going to be in one of these in his next series? Only take his " reviews" with a grain of salt as he only pushes a product/ vehicle because hes being paid to do so.
I have a 2019 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost and it absolutely eats rams for breakfast. Even on 34” tires it will easily melt the tires off if i wanted to. The amount of torque at lower RPM’s is far superior to any of the NA trucks in 1/2 ton. Easily the best for towing
@@Mick_4591 Almost all F150 sales happen in the US and Canada. A few go to mainland Europe, but not many go to countries that drive on the left. Not enough RHD units to justify having a dedicated manufacturing line.
Mate the whole of Australia has it wrong. We don't need 1500 trucks here or HD diesel trucks. We just need the HD gas trucks. No one seems to get it. 1500 aren't different enough to our utes. HD diesel are more for towing over 4.5t. That means air brakes. No one really goes to the effort to hook up air. In the states you only really go diesel HD if you need to tow over 10000lb or 4.5t. You can keep using electric to whatever weight. Where are the TH-cam videos of Aussies hooking up air brakes to their 2500 trucks? That's right there are none. The other thing about gas HD's is they are lighter and have don't emission systems. You get more payload with a gas V8 then with a 6.6 or 6.7 diesel. How can this not be a legitimate argument? Look guys you've got it wrong. I am talking about the Aussie importers and converters. You messed up. No I'm not being nice about it. And then companies want to slug you for a gvm upgrade on your 1500. I believe a lot of the importers don't even know there are such things as a gas HD truck and Aussies in general. Something is rotten. The 2024s kick butt with the 10 speeds behind them. 7.3l Godzilla and Chevys 6.6L gen 5 V8 (no lifter problems like in the 1500s that have fuel management). Ram are just as bad. Bringing 1500s and only the 2500 diesels.
I’d agree that diesels are just about choked to death with emissions controls. I wouldn’t buy a new one. Petrol engines are the way forward unless this madness ends. EV’s are nothing more than a wealth transfer and and a way to remove more freedom.
You obviously don't get that there is a market here for these vehicles. Even police forces are using them now here in OZ for their horse floats. Towing up to 4499kg is on a car lic anything over that then those wanting to above 4.5T would have no worries about air brakes and everything else. You stick to your EV's. Toyota are bringing there Tundra into Oz and GMC will be bringing their Yukon in next year for sale in 2025 so there you are theres a market here for these and manufacturers happy to meet the demand
@@Mick_4591 You sound like a women who makes up things about another man she doesn't even know to suit her agender. Keep simping till your wife leaves you. All the EV drivers around here hate me just as much as I hate delusional simps who think you can't have just as good of an aftermarket for HD gassers as diesels. Same body derhhh. Anyway you can still hook up air and tow over 4.5t in a gas 2/3500. The ratings are up to about 9t (I doubt horse floats are near 9t) in the US for gas HD trucks. Most will not tow that much in a gas and option for diesel. And at around 4.5t which most want to do here. Most in the US wouldn't spend the extra to get the diesel. Some still opt for gas even towing a 40f camper that weights 7.5ts while admiting they're slow. Do you not understand that? Do you understand that in the sales card on every HD truck in the US diesel is an optition? Police also don't do a lot of kms. Diesels aren't good for just siting around.
The F150 and Ram are perfect for towing boats. My old boat at about 3.7t full of fuel was not legal for most vehicles. With decent gcm, the Ram and F150 fill this gap perfectly. And with boats, the wheels are right down the back and they tow well with 5% to 7% on the ball. So, gvm not so touchy. My 3.7t boat had 180 kg on the ball and towed perfectly.
To be honest, 10,000 lbs isn't all that much for a trailer here in the US and some guys are towing closer to 15k with the 7.3 gas. My previous truck was a 2011 Ram 2500 diesel and it didn't have a lot more power than the new large displacement gas engines from Ford. It is nowhere close to my new truck which has the 6.7L high output Powerstroke. It pulls a 26,000 lb gooseneck flatbed without even thinking about it. I have the equivalent of an articulated truck license, but don't need it until the GCW hits 26,001 lbs.
A shoe box can look good. They make them rectangular to get the most out of their dimensions . As an American the trucks available in Australia look silly to me trying to make them look like cars.
My Maloo totally eats my neighbours Ram every single day lol, he has had every mod done to it, but no go lol. I also drive anF250, totally awesome, and hauls ass. I'd love to get a mitsalloy canopy for my F150
Just disappointed that they did not do a 1200kg payload during the conversion
Fingers crossed GVM upgrades will be available.
It’s a shame we can’t get them in the UK, especially the RHD conversion.
If you can option it without the moonroof, youll get a big boost in payload. Almost a 1000lb difference.
XLT version has no moon roof.
Moonroof only gives back about 20-30kg in payload
The panoramic moonroof adds 64 lbs to the weight of the vehicle (from the build guide).
Good job AZ! 👍
Still seems to be a better option for a tow vehicle than a landcruiser 😮 so they will steal sales from Toyota
Way better for towing then a Land cruiser 👍🏼
Ha! You should see the tracks I've taken my F150 thru.
According to Ford when towing anything over 2.5 ton a weight distribution hitch is required, I didn’t see one being used here
Where did you did Ford mention that ? Do you have web link ?

No cab chassis option available for those wanting a custom built canopy?
Unfortunately not, we might see XL work versions in the future but you might just need to remove the tub

If they bring the Raptor or Raptor R model and it isn't insanely priced like the TRX I'd seriously consider trading in my '23 Ranger Raptor in on one.
I think the big Raptor Ecoboost would be just slightly cheaper than the TRX but it would still be insane, Raptor R will be more pricey than the TRX
