The Windam might really be capable to go toe to toe with the Impulse if only if they didn't suffer from faceless grunt pilot-itis vs main character pilot plot armor
Which is saying something in comparison to other Gundam series. Especially the case of IBO grunt either become fodder for Mika or Space Guts or overwhelm the others by very dirty means. (Unfortunately the orbital bombardment while it work it wasn't enough to kill two Gundam Frames one foot from their grave)

The windam can defeat the impulse just give it to a very capable pilot or a squad of seasoned pilots.

Possibly the best Windam review so far. Kakarot went the extra mile with the detailed MS trivia and equipping Windam with different packs from past kits & vice-versa. Definitely A+ for effort.

7:34 The Windam might just have the largest V-fin I've ever seen.
i have noticed a phenomenon i call the "75%" in action figures/model kits. something is really good, but just kind of stops. it gets lazy or cheap or is missing accessories. like one person on the design team phones it in. i understand for production cost and parts count, but there just some times you just go "why?". a few more parts and joints in this case.
Such bullshit because the MSIA of this very suit had everything including the detail
I really appreciate you doing all the comparisons with the striker packs. Its that attention to detail that I come here for. Not to mention the color accuracy segments! Keep up the great work!
I'm glad you said that you felt the jet striker pack feels like it was designed separately from the main ms itself. After building it myself I felt the MS was amazing, but the backpack really pulled the rug out from under the overall appeal of it. Such a shame, but as you say, at least we finally got them both 👍
Still waiting on mine to come in the mail, but seeing all the reviews for it, I’m liking what I’m seeing. Fingers crossed Bandi does a Slaughter Dagger revive...I miss mine

The Dagger 105 is pretty close enough however unlike the 105 or Dagger L, Strike Daggers CANNOT use striker packs.

Also, make sure that you used a usable beam saber handle while at it.
The windam feels like they found scrapped he windam blueprints from 2003, and decided to heavily modify and modernize it and release it
This would sort of explain the the gun, arms and hands, and sticker heavy backpack that are reminiscent of older model kits
that seems plasible but its joints are the fine build system and the 2003 like parts might just be bandai cutting corners
They probably wanted to make it compatible with the other Seed kits.
Bandai was just cutting corners....the body is absolutely a modern take of a kit
Its . . . like a mishmash of various mecha designs that conflict but, like, it works? The rectangular body with that curvy shield offset by the rounded thighs. The heel toes for support but its not a chicken leg mech, super odd choice for heels. The big ol panels that are the shoulders vs the skinny waist silhouette. I feel like its confused about what kind of mecha it wants to be and thats part of its charm. Especially the leg booster thingys why!? It flies with a back pack! BUT IT LOOKS SO COOL! nonsensical desgin approved.🙌

I haven't watched Seed or Seed Destiny, and judging from what I've heard, I'm not sure if I should. But damn... this thing looks awesome. That blue speaks to me.
to me, the windam, the dagger and the gm custom are 3 "grunts" that with just a minor alteration to the visor could pass as a main gundam. i specially like the more "surfer brah" design of the windam head, even though i think the dagger's head is amazing.
Nice to see grunt MS getting attention ! Maybe we'll get an Aqua GM or a Night Seeker next time ? A Revive Strike Dagger would be cool as well.
A gm night seeker was announced for the origin line.
I Prefer Zaku Warrior which is absolutely get 2 version when it release (Green/Lunamaria Color)

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of mine.
The Murasames at least got better depiction on the series as they shot the Chaos Gundam.
It's important to mention it uses Bandai's "fine build" engineering, which means the joints and construction are simmilar to the Leo, Magnac, Death Army, and 30MM kits.
Looks like we are getting more and more AU grunts. Whats next? A Daughtress? Jenice? Sumo? Wadom? Ginn?

I’m not very familiar with the striker packs but if that’s the pack on the strike rouge in gundam seed destiny then I’ll say that I would like to see it get an hg variant rather than just an mg variant.
Yeah which most other Strike/Rouge HGs plus the Gunbarrel Dagger you can swap packs with plus a few Build Custom packs that have the peg for the Windam.
I’m glad to see that I’m not alone in wondering why the windam never had the aile striker pack in space.
I recall it was more budget issues and just rehasing animations from earlier episodes from SeedD, which is more a trope throughout the entire Seed series as a whole.
interestingly an EA solider used an Aile Windam in Destiny Astray... I don't remember who it was but it made sense

Gundam Seed Destiny has some really amazing looking Mobile Suites, especially this awesome looking grunt suit.
Too bad the show didn't do the Windam justice given how it was easily destroyed despite being a top of the line MS.

Without someone like neo roanoke around to pilot the Windam effectively that in turn with incompetent pilots turns the Windam into equivalent of Gelgoogs with barely trained pilots and thats how it can be and doesn't help Shinn Asuka tends to be a very Angry boi.

Bandai sacrificed color separating parts and marking stickers for color correcting stickers, still an awesome grunt suit. Gonna try to make a blue angel squadron because the jet striker pack reminds me of 21st century jets.
Maybe they’ll include the knives the the neo version. I mean look at kits like Leo and the dark army. Both have variants that include weapons the original kit should’ve came with.

Hey kakarot, I remembered what you said in your video about the gm2 being either equivalent/better than the rx78-2. So when it was mentioned that the windam is the same/equivalent with the strike, are they pertaining to the general understood performance of the strike, or specificaly referring to kira's/even mu's performace with it?
the colour separated soles are very nice, most kits only have soles that are same color as the rest of the feet
i really love the way mobile suits from seed look
but im not really sure about the science of slapping an aerodynamic back pack and saying it can fly lol

Its a good review but I think you forgot to mention that its a fine build kit, Its basically made to be made easy and cheap, Also this is probably going to be used as a base for the build divers version the eldora windam which in Bandai's eyes kids in Japan are going to make so I think some criticism is kinda irrelevant. Again this is just my opinion, and I love your videos.

The last time I built and purchased Gunpla let alone a HG. I'm guessing much has changed besides the price tag these days
Think about this: Why not apply the Universe Booster on the Windam? It is totally possible, and you could even apply those E-pacs built for the Star Build Strike (also included in the standalone Universe Booster).

No compatibility tests with the Build Strike or Star Build Strike backpacks? Mostly the Star Build Strike's, as it has those parts that fold over the shoulders.
Hope with the MG and RD Zaku Warrior a HGCE is around the corner.

actually, the Windam is supposed to be "TWO times" stronger than the Strike specwise in lore, but Fukuda's wife wrote them into oblivion so T_T

The 2nd handle doesn't even have space inside the rifle to extend it? As in, cutting small pegs and glueing them in to have something to hold into

8:05 your the only one who reviews this who mentions this.... its not on a PCB joint this time. I used the MSIA windams Beam rifle from years back as it was a better fit and worked well in the hand... but the heavier rifle practically ruined the joint- it just couldn't hold it up at all and I lost that joint. Sad Design to an otherwise excellent suit

The 0 Raiser has a one-peg connection, same as the Striker Packs, so technically no modifications needed
For a such a good grunt MS would be better with anyone who does not give a flip about "Pure Blue World" (I.E. Slave Wraiths)
You seem to be asking a lot out of a Fine Build System kit that is made to be extremely cheap.

Sen Pie I agree. While I’ve never built one myself I have seen kakarots review on it and i think that it really needs a revive with completely new joints because I really like its design and would like to see it get a revive.

The anime doesn't accurately portray the Windam's performance. This is true of virtually all grunt mobile suits. Spec-wise, the Windam is stated to be equal to the Strike Gundam.
@@anzaca1 well it just story wise that make them look like a joke but if staying real to the suit performance they can easily beat any grunt suit they meet, windam is like jesta bbut mass production unit. If given a good pilot, better animation :)) these thingg won't be a flying coffin anymore, if the pilot skill was good mas mu whom show even the windam can go on 1 vs 1 fight with something like the Freedom, if all of them are good pilot when piloting it dam Zaft dont even last that long without their better MS overall.
@@anzaca1 Strike Gundam was already an outdated model by the Destiny era. Not even Kira Yamato can get away in one piece when piloting Strike in Destiny.
@@shiothesaltch.4327 i'd say the easiest comparison is MK2 to GM3. I wanna say Gundam to GM2 but GM2 have that economic requirement. While GM3 has a bit more beef and massproduced, id say if this is GM3 then the slaughter dagger is ecoas jegan both only suffering because lack of veteran pilot cos the war is just 2 year spacing not enought time to learn lesson and train, plus as human-wavy ESFS looks like the survival rate of their pilot not to mention the amount of Ace they have to transfer into special custom unit or Full Gundam is WAYYY HIGHER look at it this way in the first war the Seed MSV only show 5 normal pilot in EA (Gunbarrel, and Buster dagger, Mobius (mu), raider full spec and sword calamity pilot (same dude). Lastly deep forbiden pilot) while in UC even for the non special suit promoted people like burning are there to train new recruit later on
@@Errorcutive It funny how (i cant belive saying this) E.A have a clear straight suit development than E.F. Sure Blue cosmos control E.A but they still evil as hell but they actually know what they doing, like a perfect evil faction for Zeon to fight with. The lack of good pilot in seed is real and it a main problem that lead to their defeat. From the first war all they have is the dagger, and it maybe just bunch of Gunbarrel pilot hot push into a MS and die almost all of them at the final battle in seed. The 2 year gasp is too small to recover the MS force, to counter E.A decide to make their suit in quality in fortable production. Windam was such a good machine but the lack of actual ace and good pilot make the suit underated so much
