I learnt on a Canon Demi C..... Then Pentax ME Super before moving in the early 90s to Leica R6.2. Cameras like those force you to understand, and be able to swiftly practice, the fundamentals of photography day to day. You are absolutely right about the Canon 60: A great way to step beyond a phone camera and make serious progress in your photography without breaking the bank.
I wanted a 60d when they first came out. I tried it out at best buy years ago and I love it. Just never had the $ to buy one. I just ordered a 60d for $177 US and I'm stoked over it. I love this camera. My next purchase is going to be the Cqnon 7d. I've always wanted one of those. The prices are awesome right now.
Get the 7D Mark II if you can swing it. It has alot of updates over the 7D. I have a 60D and a 7D2 and love both of them. Still extremely relevant in todays world.
new kit is expensive, like the hc - x2 camera (4K) £2,800 amateur photographer regularly cover good cameras on a budget (used etc) informative anyway. still looking into mirrorless options as the cards are quite expensive. Nikon z7, GH6, R7 and similar.
