Besides the software issue, the really nice projects on the site are mostly only for the bigger machines. Apparently Glowforge seems to think that those who have purchased the Aura want to make earrings and coasters forever. While the machine is newer to the market, not much thought seems to have been put into supporting it.
I think they view this as a hobbiest machine and not a production machine like their other offerings. I'd argue that none of their machines are true production machines, but this one in particular seems to be a way to get people into lasers with almost no hassle.
