    Last year I had a timing issue and spent $100 to get my machine repaired. A few days ago it happened again (I'm learning that this machine doesn't do too many layers very well) and decided to see if I could fix it myself. A little online "research" and I found your video. 30 minutes later I'm back in business. THANK YOU!!!!

    I work in the trade show industry and do last minute alterations for printed graphics on the show floor. My machine broke halfway through a 30ft long banner and I thought I’d have to take a cab to the nearest Joanns to replace it. Your video saved me and I can’t thank you enough!

My machine is less than a year old...my fiance stepped on the foot pedal by accident..and it went fast a good couple seconds... and it threw my machine so out of whack...after 2 days of messing with it...i was ready to throw it in the garbage i was so aggravated!! I followed your video and its working perfectly! Thank you so much!! Lol It saved my nerves...his butt...and my machine! Awesome patient instruction! You nailed it!

    Thank you so much! This was the only video I found helpful concerning this. You are the best. At first, it was really hard to get the gear screw(allen) to unscrew. I really appreciate this video. Sewing canvas on my Singer 44S, heard a clunk , thread and fabric hung up and jammed. Had to break the needle off to get it loose. Turned the fly wheel , it was smooth, but would not catch the thread to snag the bobbin thread. Did exactly what you showed here, works great now. Thanks again.

    Thanks so much dude. I'm in Fiji, where I sadly find that skilled people are hard to come by... my machine just came back from a so called expert, but the needle still lifts up too late, skipping most stitches on thick fabric!! Im sure i can fix it thanks to your help.
    Thanks so much! Your closing statement sums it up, and knowledge is key to freedom ;)

    • @keribethlivingston
      @keribethlivingston 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Plains Prepper I still can’t get it to budge. I found someone’s amazon review stating that “once it gets knocked out of time, you'll probably need another one. the set screw used to loosen the shuttle often gouges into the shaft, making it impossible to rotate and make the adjustment (soft metal parts)”. Maybe that’s what’s going on with mine. I really appreciate your taking the time to reply though!

      I had the same problem. I had to take the 3 black screws completely out, then I used the Allen wrench in the screw hole as a stop lever to keep the gear from moving while i rotated the hand crank to get the needle to move up/down into the proper position above the hook. I had to put some ass into it, scared the bejezus out of me because I thought it would break, but that was the only way to get the hook in the proper place with my needle. Good luck!

    Does your bobbin wheel spin all the way around? Cause I took the 3 tiny screws completely out underneath, and I still can't move the bobbin wheel more than an inch. I can move it a little to the left and right. But not enough either way to get close enough to the needle.

    • @PlainsPrepper
      @PlainsPrepper  ปีที่แล้ว

      I only had to adjust mine between a 1/4 and 1/2 inch.
      In theory it could go all the way around

    • @craigcraig763
      @craigcraig763 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Plains Prepper thanks for the feedback. I think I might have to take it to a shop then, cause it's not moving all the way around. It only does when the needle moves, but that's not solving anything. I need to be able to move the bobbin wheel as much as I want while the needle stays all the way down.

      @@PlainsPrepper thanks for the response. I figured it out about 20 minutes after I posted. Stupid issue actually. Somehow. Dunno how. The thread managed to come out of the lifter arm and it was going straight to the needle feed. So the slack was not being taken back before the hook was coming through and catching it a second time. Just a silly issue. I should have rethread it sooner. Glad I didn’t start working on timing!

    Add me to the list of thanks yous! I am a noob also and made some cushions for my boat. But then I tried sewing some webbing for my recovery straps, and messed up the timing! I reset per your instructions and all is perfect again. I broke my first 2 mm allen since those set screws are really tight from the factory. But all is well now.

    My Allen key is stuck. Will not move at all when I try to unscrew it. Any idea if there’s a way to loosen it?

      Not really. They are locktited in place and can be difficult to get started.

    How do you know that this is the issue you are having? What does it look like with the thread, fabric etc.?

      For me it was constantly missing stitches or just not sewing at all.

    Does the same principle hold for the Singer 6268? My machine winds the bobbin in place, and access to the bobbin is through a slider. Throat plate lifts off. And where is the black gear located? Is it under the free-arm or closer to the control panel?

      Look on page 120 of this manual. It appears the gear you need to loosen is closer to the motor.

    Anyone else go through so many bobbin cases with the singer 44s? Am I doing something wrong? They always seem to get pierced or break.

    Good tips. Helped me unfuck the timing in my 4452.

    Omg thank you. You know how many videos had 12 minutes of monotonous moaning ? Not this one. Thank you for keeping the BS out and for lining up the valuable aspects nicely

    Thanks. It's kinda crazy that I've never had a Singer made before 1940 go out of timing. The newer ones, do.
