Kevin, it's hard to put into words how valuable your videos are. Thank you, brother, from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much you have helped me.
Kevin, you are wonderful!!! I absolutely love your voice and patience during your instruction. I would be so proud if you were my son or brother or husband. And you are a great teacher! Thank you!!
This is absolute perfection. I must admit i didnt understanding the positive comments because i didnt use the right tool to unscrew those little demons. I kept trying all day. I finally got the right tool from someone. Thank you Thank you. I thought i had to say goodbye to my machine for a minute. I will forever be grateful to you
Thanks for mentioning all the spots that need oil. I have always oiled the metal to metal in the past, but, the recent video I saw said to oil the felt and did not mention the grease or other parts to oil. You have made my day. Now I have to take it apart and oil the rest, and grease it when I receive the grease. Your video has made me happy now that I do not have to spend $$$$$ on having it serviced. May God bless you for taking your time to bless others.
Thank you for your amazing video. With your help I was able to fix my timing issue today having never worked on a Singer Heavy Duty machine before today. Didn't take as long as I thought I would take. This video made my day.
I usually work on Sailrite machines, so I was a bit timid to dive into another brand to repair for my mom. It ended up just being the simple needle bar adjustment and everything is working smoothly now. Thank you for such a comprehensive video on setting the timing
This video was a lifesaver!!!!!! singer HD 4432 user here. I run an Etsy shop sewing goods and due to what I just learned is a timing issue, I thought I was going to have to go out and buy a new machine, on top of notifying a customer their order would be delayed 😢. Your video is the first one I found that actually went through how to actually fix a timing issue yourself and I am SO THANKFUL 🙏🏽. Back in business 🎉
Hi Kevin, I was using the button attachment yesterday and bobbin seemed to jam, no nesting but the bobbin is making a ratting noise and jumping around the casement. Do you think this is a timing issue as I've rethreaded the machine, changed the needle and dropped the dog feed just to see if it's any of those. Still no joy!
Thank you. I was about to throw my new machine off the bridge. Nearest Singer approved repair is 400 miles from home. You're great, I'm back in business.
I got a Singer 4432 for cheap price a few days ago and did not know that it has problems because they said there was "no problem we just want to upgrade" and I believed lol. I couldn't make the bobbin thread through and I followed your video to retime the needle and bobbin assembly. It worked for me! Thank you so much.
omgggg thank you so much. I followed along, hit pause and replay about 50 times between expletive-laced rants, holy cow, the timing adjustment fixed my machine. Thank you!❤
You cover the top timing as well while others don't. That helped me salvage my 4411 that a repair man said needed parts and was a write off. Now it's working on a 4 width zig zag which is all I need - I dont have your patience to get it not to skip the odd stitch on 6 but greased and oiled like you showed, it' sounds great and is running sweet as a nut again. Thank you so very much indeed Mr Kevin the machine saver.
Thank you for posting this! The timing on my sewing machine became ridiculously off after I hit a pin directly with the sewing needle. Your video was the most helpful and understandable compared to the others out there. Saved my sewing machine!
I was having a problem with my 4452...but after viewing your video, my problem was quickly resolved...and I learned a lot about my machine than Ide ever expected...and I did it myself...!...Thank you...!
For those that can't get the 3 set screws off the gear, or the gear wont rotate because the set screws deformed the shaft too much: you can still fix the timing yourself. Take all the screws off the bottom of the machine, remove the base cover. Slide the belt off its gear, set the timing as described in this video. Try not to rotate the shaft and slide the belt back onto the gear. Way easier than bending allen wrenches
You and Kevin saved me! My hands have calluses from trying to inscrew the three small ones. Thanks to your solutio with the belt, I followed the rest of the instructions and it works! Thank you!
Thank you! You're an excellent instructor. You go slow enough to follow and explain each movement as you go. I really appreciate that. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year "23
After spending over an hour trying to fit the bobbin case back in my singer 4452, I found your video! Thank you for explaining how to loosen the screws to put it back in. Every other video I’ve seen doesn’t explain this!
All I can say is omg omg this was the best video I have ever seen. . Each step was so well communicated. I learned so much from you . If I could hug you I would. I am making sure to download this video and I subscribe to your channel. Love and respect. ❤
Followed this today for Singer 4454. Worked out well. Thanks! My wife has only used the machine a few times and it got thrown out of time. Working now. I did not test it pulled apart but I got lucky. Great Video!
The only step I didn’t understand is the adjusting of the needle in the top housing. Am I loosening it to make it move up and down or tightening it to keep it completely still?
In the case of the one I was repairing on this video it was thrown out of time by trying to sew something that was way too heavy for this type of machine. This caused the needle to push up slightly. Therefore, it wasn't coming down to the lowest point timing wise. This means you have to loosen the needle bar screw and then rotate the wheel until the hook rotates around to the point it would be picking up the thread. Then you lower the needle to that point and tighten up the screw that holds it. This may require a slight adjustment, but it will get it close.
@@kevinsews my needle looks like it is to deep set. I did loosen needle screw. . I don't see any difference. Idk. Put machine back together now it want advance fabric. I checked feeddogs.
Mr.Kevin after a month of trying to fix my machine, your video was the exact thing I needed. Thank you for all the detail and close ups. You saved me money and time to get my machine fixed. My new favorite hero is you. Have a wonderfully, magnificent, spectacular life and may all your wishes come true!
This is the only video I could find that explained the timing of my machine and how it functions... after watching this, I had my machine working again in 20 minutes! Thanks so much!
Your video helped me get a 4452 going that I just purchased at Goodwill for $19.99. The upper thread kept getting caught in the bobbin area. Those two screws were loose so I followed your instructions and held that piece up and out when I tightened the screws and now it works perfectly. Probably was the reason the old owner got rid of it. Thank you Kevin.
The mechanic fixed the timing on my less then 6 month old 4452 ( he said - not heavy duty) for no charge. He assured me it WILL happen again. No free ride next time tho, so thanks for this video. Very clear & easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for making this video. My machine was skipping stitches. I learned from you how to adjust the needle depth so now it picks up the thread and no more skipping stiches. You saved me a bunch of money on repair or worse replacement.
I thank you so much. I have the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 and only use it occasionally for heavier projects. Sewed some canvas for corn bags for a corn hole game...machine nested up under bobbin plate a few times..still sewed. I put it away. Took it out to sew more canvas for a bag and it was making a noise..I looked at it and determined the timing was off. Asked hubby to fix it and we found your very informative, spot on video. Now she is sewing like she should. One comment said..you empower me..I agree.
Kevin Sews Kevin..my machine sews now..but..(there’s always a but)...I can’t use the threader..now the threader comes down below the needle when I pull it down. Rob doesn’t think he did anything to make that needle push up..but it is. Rob wants to know if you can tell him how to adjust this. Thanks again.
This was different to other timing videos which didn’t work, this video helped me understand how it all works, took me a few tries to get the machine sewing right, but at last we have a machine that works again… excellent 😊
Thank you sooooooo much! I am new to sewing and had to troubleshoot my stitches. Found out that my bobbin tension was too loose. I was able to fix that problem and tune up my Singer HD4423 thanks to you! Works like a charm now.
Thank you so much. I just bought one of these off gumtree for really cheap (quarter of retail price), with the timing out. With your video i've made it as good as new, at close to zero cost (just had to buy the grease + oil) !! Much gratitude
Thank you so much for this video. I was about to give up and put her in the shop.I have been trying to figure out why my machine has been acting progressively worse over the past few months then finally gave out. You are a life saver because I sew as part of my work. 💖
Thank you so much Kevin. This video saved me the value of a machine that I was very close to trash. My Singer 4423 came out of box new with horrible timing difference like 180 degree between the hook and the needle. Without your tutorial I was about to mess the needle pole just to align it with the hook. Shame on Singer to ship machines with such flaw that requires a "Recall".
@@kevinsews Hello Kevin, I just wanted to share this with you. For some reason, loosening the Allen screws of timing did not work for me and did not rotate more than 90 degrees which was still far from the needle. Instead, I loosened the Allen screw of the hook's pole, pushed up with hook compartment, aligned it with needle at the position where it goes up, pushed the pole back in, and tightened its Allen screw. The machine now is functioning perfectly. I wish I can share a PDF of the part that I adjusted the hook. Many thanks again :)
@@haithamabdullah400 i guess i am having the same issue as yours. Can you please explain in detail wha did you do. I am new at this, my timing is off and even if tried to loosen the Alan at the bottom to loosen the hook plate, its doesn’t move freely as the video tutorial. I am not sure what to do
@@salroebuck8330 sorry for late answer. Okay, at minute 23:05 you will see the bottom of the hook pole base fixed with two screws on the sides and an allen on the top. Unscrew the base and loosen the allen then you can manually turn the hook pole to time/adjust the hook with needle right at the position when the needle would go up. You do this by turning the hand wheel to place the needle at the lowest position before going up. Now you can put back the hook pole base and tighten the allen. I hope I could clarify the process well. Good luck
Thank you for your time teaching us how to care for our new machines. I know I'm very grateful. I live my new 4452. I'm still going WoW! It's a far cry from my 66-16 1952. I think I just just going to use it for basting and general straight stitching. Now I have a 66-16, viking 250, 4452, and an server. I think I have all the tools to make anything I want to make.
Great video, thanks! I had tried to adjust the hook before without adjusting the needle and I couldn’t figure out why it was so hard. I put this video to my husband and together we have solved it, thanks!!
Wow! Thanks very much for this... exactly what I needed to see. I will be going through the timing on my machine this afternoon, and hope to be back on my project afterwards! I'm very likely pushing this machine to the very edge of its ability with canvas projects, and being new to sewing is certainly a factor too. I expect I'll be in the guts of the thing pretty often, and now have hopes it will survive. Thank you, Kevin!
Thanks Kevin!!! You're the man!! I don't even know how this happened but my timing was off as well. This is a new machine!! But now I need to figure out bobbin tension. I got the needle and timing down. 😅 do stressful!! You've helped out a ton!!!
Thank you Kevin. I don't have anyone in my area who will work on this machine. Before Covid it would have been about the same cost as a new one anyway. You empower me!
Thank you so much for making this video, my singer 4423 had jammed, I followed all the steps and I have finally managed to fix it. I had to stop every step to get all the tools. I have learned a lot, it took me a month to fix it but I finally did it. When I was stitching checking if it timed, I wasn't closing the bottom cover, the thread was getting wrapped around the gears, and it was making a very loud sound. I couldn't see it because it going right under the felt between the gears. So now I understood why Kevin was closing the bottom cover and opening it up to adjust it. So follow every step in this video and you will go no wrong.
Kevin, this is an amazing video. You made it easy to follow along and I was able to reset my bobbin timing. Very happy because JoAnns said its usually cheaper to buy a new one than fix it.
Thank you for having this video my singer HD 4452 a great machine for everyday sewing not really heavy duty but it does get some things done. I have my Singer 31-15 completely apart, and waiting for a few parts to arrive so I picked this one up and have taken it apart a few times to clean it out, and oil but I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Great video! You have a new subscriber.
Thanks Kevin, now I know how to properly oil and grease my machine, also I just adjust the needle height which I didn't know could be adjusted, you just make my day. Thanks again for taking the time to teach us how to do it.
I thought my timing was off but it wasn't. I did learn how to maintenance my machine however. Thanks for such a comprehensive guide on the areas to care for and what to look for in troubleshooting timing issues. Much appreciated.
I had that issue with the gear still binding even after the 3 screws were loosened, but I was able to free it after a while of fiddling with it. Wish I had seen that comment. Oh well, I got it done regardless! Thank you so much!
Hello Kevin, Thanks very much for this very helpful video! I have a Singer heavy duty 4423 and it has never had a problem in it's 8 year life. I love it! However, it went dead head on me (hand wheel wouldn't turn, everything was locked up). In all those 8 years I never had it serviced so that was why I'm sure! I watched this and lots of your other videos and did everything you showed in them: i opened up the whole machine, got out all the lint, oiled and greased every moving part, and also loosened some of the screws to unlock the place were it had seized. I don't actually know where that was, but it got to working again, and when I put everything back together, everything retightened, it turned and worked except there was no stitch! That was when I watched this video again and adjusted the timing with the hook and needle, just like you said. I also watched your other post on adjusting the tensions on top and bottom, and did that too. Now I have the machine stitching ALMOST perfectly, but only straight stitch and only in the middle or far left position of the needle. Problems are, even as good as it gets there will be one or two missed stitches every 10-20 inches or so. Also it is cranky about the needles I use (it doesn't like a brand new one identical to the one it does like), and it refuses to do a zigzag stitch no matter what, eitehr doing a terrible straight stitch in place of it, or skipping so many stitches that it looks like a dying heartbeat! It will not stitch at all in the far right position. I don't see any problems inside (opened it up and looked thoroughly at it again). I have worked and worked at it (desperate to use it again!) but maybe this is just a problem with a diy-er tinkering so much with such a delicate machine! Can you give me any ideas? I'm pretty stuck and have now invested a lot of time into it! I could replace the entire bobbin case to see if the bobbin case is ruined in some way that I can't see. Anyway, I'd take a video of it or pics if that helped. Thanks for your consideration!
All I do is place the machine in the widest zigzag and rotate the hook to see that it catches the thread on both the right and left. You may need to adjust the needle height at this point. These adjustments are almost always very slight. A tiny movement at this point cab make all the difference.
@@kevinsews Ok. I'll keep trying. I did set it on the widest zigzag the last time I adjusted the timing: and the hook was coming right above the needle's eye, just like it seems like it should. I guess I could buy a gauge and try to do it the way the repair manual specifies? If I were to adjust the needle height, what would I be looking for? I did loosen it but I didn't quite understand what height exactly it should be, if the needle eye is already going below the hook when they meet.
@@rachelbeeman You will notice the needle height issue when the needle swings to the left side. That is when you may need to make a very slight adjustment to the needle height to allow the hook to catch the thread. It is a balancing issue for sure because it has to be almost perfect to allow both sides to catch the thread with every size needle the machine supports. And yes, buying a gauge would be very helpful.
This is an excellent video. Thanks so much for walking us through all of the steps to solving common problems -- I have no doubt I'll revisit this video countless times in the years to come!
Hi Kevin. I can’t thank you enough for your time and dedication. Your explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and apply. Greetings from New York City.
This is exactly the video I need to fix my machine! You are saving me (hopefully) from having to replace my machine or bring it someone to pay and outrageous diagnostic cost on top of repair! I will update when I attack my machine!
Thanks so much for the video. My husband was able to help fix my sewing machine that I couldn’t after trying all the basic trouble shooting from the manual.
Thanks so much! I hurt my machine by not moving the needle to the side with a narrow presser foot. hard. I just did the needle height part of this and the problem was solved. Very grateful seeing i just got it back from a service 😊
I took mine apart and cleaned and oiled it. I saw another video the other day. Tonight your video popped up . I'm glad I did some things right according to your video. Anyway, my machine is all put back together and works fine. Thankyou for this great video. I will save it for reference.
I really learned a lot on how to fix the Timing on a Singer Classic. The important thing is that after the major areas are adjusted, there likely will be more mini adjustments. So, it was perfect to have the mini adjustments and to checking with a zig-zag, and a straight stitch at the end.
Kevin, you are amazing at teaching us how to do this stuff with our own machines! I had a problem awhile back with my upper and lower tensions and managed to find a groove in the needle plate. I filed it smoother with a metal nail file and it did ok but I was still having a problem with jamming so I ordered a new plate finally. THEN I lost one of the screws trying to replace the needle plate! SO, I began to take the machine apart to find that screw. I kinda tilted it upside down and back and forth before I did that. But I quit hearing it move around so I took it apart. I had not seen this video yet. I only saw the one showing how to service the machine. I ended up finding the online service manual and downloaded it to help me figure things out. It helped a lot except it didn’t show where and what kind of screws go back where. After I took that free arm slab thing off, I thought I would never get it back on but I finally managed to miraculously do it! Now I see you address removing that part in this video! However, I’m finding that I am missing a few screws (in more ways than machine wise! Hehe). So I am writing this long winded comment to ask if I am able to order replacement screws anywhere before I take this free arm slab off again to do the adjustments you describe here? My upper thread is not catching at all or even trying to catch. IT just spins around and around when I turn the handwheel. So I will try to be patient and see if you’re able to let me know if and where I can possibly order replacement screws. Either that or maybe I should buy another new machine? I already bout a singer 1500 that I dont like at all. If I take it back they will charge me to rebox and for Re shelving. I have people I can sell it to or give it to cuz I don’t like it at all. It makes me LOVE my HD 4423!
@@kevinsewsthank you! I did find most of the screws and am only missing one now. I finally got the upper thread to grab the bobbin thread to my utter amazement (after losing the bobbin holder and cover and had to order both from Amazon) but now the thread is catching at that metal clip thing that the bobbin case is supposed to push slightly. I’ve tried tightening the screws for that part but that hasn’t worked. It looks like it’s slightly bent so the thread keeps grabbing there. Should I try to fix it myself by bending it some (I have needle nose jewelry pliers) or just try to order a new one? I’ve ordered all the tools and oil and grease from your links so perhaps I can order that part, too?
Thank you so much for this video. I have 3 Singer HD machines, the classic and 2 HD 6800 C's ( I was sent 2 machines when I ordered only 1). My bottom stitches on my HD Classic (Mechanical) were off. I cleaned, changed the needle and thread, but it was still off. I watched your video adjusted my tension and set my bobbin holder back in place and tightened the screws on the needle plate. I think using the walking foot and putting my machine down lower (adjustable table) "shook" things up too much. Stitches good now.
This video is super helpful, thank you so much! One note: several times early on you refer to the Allen wrench as a Torx wrench even though you called it an Allen wrench set at the beginning. Might want to add in text as you did with "stitch width" moment. Wouldn't want to confuse people.
Love this Kevin... I just have started sewing and you have been my Guide... and being in the Automotive business I love how you worded this Video... Thanks for what you do and you made my day.
Fantastic video!! I just fixed my machine with this information. Saved me an (expensive) trip to have my machine serviced. Thank you for the detailed explanation Kevin!!
Good & confounding grief! My Janome built (90’s) Kenmore [which I’m onlyONLYonly-just learning to use] likely has multipleMULTIPLEmultiple shenanigans. The ‘hook’ is capturing but not releasing the thread. Additionally, it was the looping/bird’s nesting bobbin threads + hopping & bopping in concert, rocking the casing. I’ve adjusted tension here to yon and I just don’t yet know what the complete hey I’ve yet to well learn! Aaaaarrrrrgh. I’m going to look into ‘timing’. While ThisTHISThis wonderful offering is today a bit over my head I’m learning MoreMOREMore each day. I’ll be studying so thank you SO much Kevin! ~ Shannan
Agree with all other comments! Super helpful. I find timing a huge issue with this machine. Especially after “heavy duty”sewing. Such a disappointment!
Kevin, you did an amazing video, and your patience and ability to explain are awesome. I have a Singer cg500 which is pretty similar however I see no obvious way to adjust underneath. If you are familiar with the 500 series, could you share tips on the way to adjust underneath? Your blessings are stored in heaven for all those you have helped!
My 4423 singer was hammering.the bobbin housing was slipping past the bobbin housing stop spring.two screws unloosened and spring pushed forward and retightened.works like a champ now.
Hi from Argentina been following since I got My heavy duty, wonderful channel 👏👏Thanks so much for posting this vídeo my machine works well but I'm always afraid my machine could go off time. This I'll hace handy just un case.
Hey Kevin!this is such a well explained video! I just changed the timing and it loops when I turn the wheel and catches both stitches for the zig zag but when I sew it only catches the straight stitch... and not the other right stitch! I'm assuming it's still a timing issue?
Several weeks ago I followed your video to repair y friend’s machine. I was so excited that it worked! Unfortunately, she used it for less than 15 minutes and it broke again. Do you have any suggestions on what I might do? Thank you so much!!!
That just means either the screws were not tighten enough (from the factory they can be VERY right) or they may be a bit stripped out and you can't tighten them enough. If this was the first time the machine was worked on then you probably didn't tighten them enough.
Great video Kevin! Thank you so much for taking the time to even make these🙏🏽 I imagine it can’t be easy getting all those angles right you really do care about making sure people can find the help they need👍🏽 I actually just messaged you on Facebook messenger from the link to your Facebook from this TH-cam channel. I’ve subscribed and turned on all notifications as well and have already forced a few of my friends who see to do both of those very same things. Hopefully I can hear back from you soon! I’m having a bit of an issue with my singer classic that’s probably a little bit more specific and/or involved than I’d be able to explain with a single comment here😬 Anyway, if you are ever on Facebook please check your messages from a person with my very name. Thank you Kevin!
Thank you for this, my machine was catching on the black bobbin holder and where the two screws hold onto the case. I just didn’t have everything aligned right. I should know better, been sewing a long time, but this helped.
This will be the next vid I watch. I make dog collars using layers of seatbelt type webbing. Sometimes I still get the odd cruddy skipped stitch underneath or even nesting under there. I have a decent needle in there which helped, but it's pretty frustrating. I wonder if it's coz of the change of speed as I go along? Ugh. It's a bit pesky. Perhaps the timing? Thanks for your channel. It helped me decide to buy this machine in the first place.
Kevin- Thanks for putting this video together. One small item of feedback; the small wrenches you use are metric Hex Allen wrenches, not Torx wrenches. Torx wrenches/tips are a completely different shape. You might want to change your list of links to say "Metric Hex wrench set that includes what you'll need:" Keep up the good work.
Yes, I use 1.5mm 2.0mm 2.5mm 3.0mm Hexagon Screwdriver Wrenches. I placed a link in the description to help those who ordered to get the correct tools for the job. Thanks for bringing it up though.
Hello Dr. K! Kudos for taking the time to make such helpful instruction! I'm about to watch this through AGAIN, and I've D/L'ed the manual you so generously offer - but so far I've not found the immediate answer I've posed (more than once) directly to Singer support. So I'm hoping this might be quick and painless (ie Off The Top) for you to let me know if I'm chasing my tail or on-track: I've a brand new 4452 that from the gate has not SOUNDED right to me. I've managed to see SOME success, but this one thing bugs me, for it seems counter-intuitive. TDC for the needle bar is NOT synchronous with TDC of the thread take-up lever! In fact, the needle is well on its way downward before the take-up lever hits its apogee. That SEEMS to me to be wonky, but - maybe not??? In the newly downloaded service manual, although there's discussion of adjusting the take-up lever, it doesn't actually address where it's supposed to be! It simply shows where the screws are to loosen so you CAN adjust. But without telling WHERE EXACTLY - how is one supposed to NAIL it? Now, don't ask me what happens when you hold material right up against the right side of the presser foot and hit the accelerator. Ha ha ha - VERY funny, Bright One!
Thank you for this tutorial. Very informative. I've never dug into my Singer Classic 44s like this before. I started out with my machine only being able to complete a straight stitch, but not picking up the bobbin thread with a zig-zag. In my research I believe it's a hook timing issue. My needle is aligning properly, as you've instructed, but after reassembly it isn't able to complete even a basic straight stitch. Where might I have gone wrong and what can I do to repair this on my own without taking it in for service?
Kevin, Very well explained video! Back in 1978-1980 when I was in college, I worked for a Singer store doing machine repairs. What you did in this video was called a tuneup. Cost was $19.99. I always put a new needle in before I started. Question, did Singer stop doing the best thing they ever did which was put timing marks on the needle shaft? There were two rings on the shaft, bottom of travel and hook position. This always worked, once and done. Also, you did not mention checking the clearance from the hook to the needle. There should be an eccentric in case it needs adjusting. Even though you showed very well how to do this, there will probably be several who try and fail and end up taking in to get fixed. Many a woman came to the store crying because their husband tried to fix their machine. Usually the machine and a box of parts! Respectfully, Kevin

You're welcome! That is great to hear.
omgggg thank you so much. I followed along, hit pause and replay about 50 times between expletive-laced rants, holy cow, the timing adjustment fixed my machine. Thank you!❤
You're welcome! I am pleased to hear that.
Graeham Smith That is great to hear!

You're welcome! I am happy to hear it worked for you.
Great suggestion. I appreciate you.
You and Kevin saved me! My hands have calluses from trying to inscrew the three small ones. Thanks to your solutio with the belt, I followed the rest of the instructions and it works! Thank you!
You’re a live saver. Second time my new machine is off timing and this time I just can’t move the bobbin holder one bit
Thanks for the video! Singer 'heavy duty" worst machine i had. I will try to fix it ,Thanks for the tips!
Kevin you are my savior ! Only the first 10 minutes of your video help me to solve the problem, you are simply the best ! Greetings from Oslo.Ciao !

Thank you! You're an excellent instructor. You go slow enough to follow and explain each movement as you go. I really appreciate that. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year "23
Happy New Year to you and your family!
After spending over an hour trying to fit the bobbin case back in my singer 4452, I found your video! Thank you for explaining how to loosen the screws to put it back in. Every other video I’ve seen doesn’t explain this!
You're welcome! I am glad it was helpful.
All I can say is omg omg this was the best video I have ever seen. . Each step was so well communicated. I learned so much from you .

Followed this today for Singer 4454. Worked out well. Thanks! My wife has only used the machine a few times and it got thrown out of time. Working now. I did not test it pulled apart but I got lucky. Great Video!
This is nice to hear! Thanks for letting me know.
The only step I didn’t understand is the adjusting of the needle in the top housing.
Am I loosening it to make it move up and down or tightening it to keep it completely still?
How deep should the needle be?
I am glad to hear it was helpful.
Thanks for this tutorial. I have one machine I want to try this on.

This is the only video I could find that explained the timing of my machine and how it functions... after watching this, I had my machine working again in 20 minutes! Thanks so much!

This was a God send as I just bought a 44s MDL and I know it's in desperate need of a good cleaning and lubricating!! Thank you!

The little hook you adjusted at 31.13 is the bane of my existence! Thank you for this excellent video.
You're welcome!
You're welcome! I am glad to hear that worked for you.
You are an absolute Godsend. Never would try to fix my machine til I watched your video. Thank you so much, all the way from Ireland 🤗🇮🇪🍀
You're welcome!
The mechanic fixed the timing on my less then 6 month old 4452 ( he said - not heavy duty) for no charge. He assured me it WILL happen again. No free ride next time tho, so thanks for this video. Very clear & easy to follow. Thank you so much!
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for making this video. My machine was skipping stitches. I learned from you how to adjust the needle depth so now it picks up the thread and no more skipping stiches. You saved me a bunch of money on repair or worse replacement.
You're welcome! I am glad it was helpful.
Ramona Kufalk That is great to hear!
Ramona Kufalk Check the service manual. There is a link to it in the video description box.
Kevin Sews I will have him do that. He is gone to work for 2 days..I will let you know if he can fix it. Thanks Kevin.

This was different to other timing videos which didn’t work, this video helped me understand how it all works, took me a few tries to get the machine sewing right, but at last we have a machine that works again… excellent 😊
@@modelmaker2718 I am so glad you found it helpful.

Works like a charm now.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much. I just bought one of these off gumtree for really cheap (quarter of retail price), with the timing out. With your video i've made it as good as new, at close to zero cost (just had to buy the grease + oil) !! Much gratitude
Nice! I glad it was helpful.
Thank you so much for this video. I was about to give up and put her in the shop.I have been trying to figure out why my machine has been acting progressively worse over the past few months then finally gave out. You are a life saver because I sew as part of my work. 💖
You're welcome!
My pleasure!
@@haithamabdullah400 Yes, sometimes you have to do that when it is WAY off.
Good luck
Recently, one of my dreams came true to repair SINGER from the last HD series. Good, solid machine is a pleasure to work with.

Great! I am glad to hear that it worked out for you.

You have the patience of a saint. Thanks for the video. I couldn’t get mine to work but I’m sure it’s just me. You seem to know what to do very well.
What exactly is the problem you are seeing?
You’re welcome!
Kevin, this is an amazing video. You made it easy to follow along and I was able to reset my bobbin timing. Very happy because JoAnns said its usually cheaper to buy a new one than fix it.

@Jeffery Tristan Keep us posted. I appreciate it very much.

I am glad you figured it out.
@@kevinsews Thank you so much! I will let you know how it goes. I really appreciate your time and your channel!

I really learned a lot on how to fix the Timing on a Singer Classic. The important thing is that after the major areas are adjusted, there likely will be more mini adjustments. So, it was perfect to have the mini adjustments and to checking with a zig-zag, and a straight stitch at the end.
I agree!
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much. Iv been trying to fix my singer heavy duty for hours. Stopped working in the middle of a project. This was very easy to follow.
You're welcome!
Help! I've loosened the three little screws several turns but still can't get the hook to move. Any suggestions?
I ended up taking it to the shop to be fixed. Didn’t want to make it worse by trying to perform singer surgery.

Nevermind! Found the part here at the link you provided! Thank you so much!

Great! I glad you were able to fix it.
This video is super helpful, thank you so much! One note: several times early on you refer to the Allen wrench as a Torx wrench even though you called it an Allen wrench set at the beginning. Might want to add in text as you did with "stitch width" moment. Wouldn't want to confuse people.

Hey Kevin!this is such a well explained video! I just changed the timing and it loops when I turn the wheel and catches both stitches for the zig zag but when I sew it only catches the straight stitch... and not the other right stitch! I'm assuming it's still a timing issue?
Yes, it can be the needle depth and /or timing.

Hello Dr. K! Kudos for taking the time to make such helpful instruction! I'm about to watch this through AGAIN, and I've D/L'ed the manual you so generously offer - but so far I've not found the immediate answer I've posed (more than once) directly to Singer support. So I'm hoping this might be quick and painless (ie Off The Top) for you to let me know if I'm chasing my tail or on-track:
I've a brand new 4452 that from the gate has not SOUNDED right to me.
Yes, I know. That is way I said it is a balancing game. You just have to get it close and then do tiny adjustments.
@@kevinsews Um - thanks? But - no comment on whether or not the needle bar and the thread take-up lever should be at TDC simultaneously???
@@palewriter1856 Yes, they should be pretty close to the top at the same time.
@@kevinsews Thank you, sir. Unfortunately, on my machine they're about 56 degrees out of sync. I wouldn't call that "pretty close!"
@@palewriter1856 As long as it sews and runs smoothly you should be good.
Just take it apart and see how much it is out of time when looking around to take up the thread. I have had to do this many times before.
Every Manufacturer should create a Red Siting Mark for the hook/needle positions!
I agree.
Thank you so much! Your video was terrific! I was able to follow your clear steps and fix my friend's machine! Thank you! Thank you!
You're wlcome!
Thanks for contributing. Very Much appreciated.
Kevin Sews Did they stop putting timing marks?
@@KevinCoop1 I am on the road right now. I will take a look when I return next week and let you know.
Kevin Sews Have a safe trip.
