Pocahontas: The Tragic True Story

  • In the famous Disney film, Pocahontas sang about the “Colors of the Wind”, and we learned that everyone can get along, despite their cultural differences. While the intent behind the movie may have been good, it is nowhere near being historically accurate. The true story is much darker, and for some of you out there, this video just may ruin your childhood memories. This is the true story of Pocahontas.

For example, I learned all about the Civil War growing up in Upstate New York. @@michaelaluna7684 it's a fetus, only roughly the size of an orange seed when aborted. So if you say that a fetus the size of an orange seed without having an existence in the real world is the same as a breathing, living person, then idk what to tell you.
When someone can't live without life support they can be taken off of it. In the same way , a fetus feeds off of the mother like a parasite to a host.
It'd be wonderful if a fetus could be developed into a baby outside of a mother's belly. But until that doesn't happen, the mother, who are often children themselves, shouldn't have to suffer with everything else that comes on top of carrying a baby in your belly for 9 months.
If you're truly pro-life you'd care about the life that already exists in fostering and adoption centers. You'd protest against child abuse.
But you don't, ever. The only moment where you "care" about life is when it's an unborn baby because it's like a blank canvas, it's so easy to want to protect something that doesn't have opposing views to you. It's easy to claim to care for someone who's not your responsibility. It's easy to claim to care about a life that hasn't even lived yet.
It's harder to be humane towards someone who shouldn't deserve it. It's harder to make humane decisions for people who have atrocious crimes.
Don't ever call yourself "pro life" when all you really do is make one life that already exists miserable, while never caring about all those unfortunate children that grow up in loveless homes or adoption centers.

I'm French but so far I never heard of a real confirmed case of kid kidnapped by Gypsies/Roms.
But what I remember was from just one or two monthes ago when this old fake news of a white truck driven by Roms to steal childrens came back.
This led to some random innocent people being beaten for nothing.
I'm not saying there is no problem with them (half of the "syrians refugee" in Paris are actually them) but things tend to be highly exagerated.

@JessikaEmerald That isn't and literally has never been true

    • @AliciaNyblade
      @AliciaNyblade 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@JessikaEmerald I disagree. I think it was good of Disney to remove the past that was written for Esmeralda in the book. Said past carries some pretty racist undertones, if you really think about it. It leans on the "All Roma are dishonest thieves" thing that's plagued them for centuries and seems to imply that Esmeralda is a good person with a kind, noble heart specifically because she's not ethnically Roma herself.
Her past being what it is puts a damper on the story's over-arching themes of not holding onto prejudice. But Hugo could contradict himself at times, like in his other novel, "The Man Who Laughs", in which he makes a beautiful case for emotional love and physical love both being needed for romance, that the love of the soul and body mirror each other, and then he proceeds to blame women for men's lusts by saying, and I'm quoting word-for-word here, "We slander the Devil. It was not he who tempted Eve; Eve tempted him. Lucifer was passing by quietly, he saw the woman, and became Satan." Like, seriously, Victor, what's up with that?

Simon, to me at least, just the fact that you put so much effort into proper pronunciations, spellings, etc. speaks volumes about your own character and passion for truth and learning. You, Shell, and the rest of your team receive many kudos for the high quality content you produce, but I feel sometimes you are personally overlooked as the face and voice of the channel and some may not see just how much of your own heart is being invested and portrayed. So, KUDOS, Simon!

I didn’t learn the truth until high school. It was a moment that changed how I looked at the history I was being told in school books forever. I don’t speak for other races, but the false history that John Smith portrayed and the way that woman was treated was shameful and disgusting.
I think any decent person would be ashamed of such behavior regardless of circumstance. I understand that looking back on history through the lens of modern times can certainly be tough, but what these so called “Christians” did to a teenage girl makes my stomach churn.

I STILL HATE THE FACT HOW THEY FORCED THEM INTO CHRISTIANITY, where they death threat people for embracing Paganism, and all other non- Christian belief, it still hits me to this day REPUBLICAN CHRISTIANS WOULD KILL IN THE NAME OF THEIR RELIGION if people says NO as YANDERE LIKE AS THEIR DEITY, who would torture because of rejection. I guess WE can DETACH how we feel between the fiction and reality. To me it SOUNDS WEIRD but it’s an accomplishment because not everyone has the ability to separate their feelings between fiction and it’s real stories.

My mother loved the Pocahontas Disney movie, and we watched it often together. But from the first day I saw it, she always told me that this was a fairy tale and nothing like the real Pocahontas. I remember as a child that I thought it was weird that there ever had been a real Pocahontas, because I knew there was no real Snow White or real Cinderella. But the talking tree, being friends with a racoon and being able to understand english by listening with your heart was dead give away anyway. I understood that it was a fairy tale and not real.

9:43 “Rolfe was a widower in his forties’.” His age is false. He was either 28 or 29 when he married Mataoka in 1614. He was baptized as an infant on May 6, 1585. He didn’t even live to be 40, dying of disease at the age of 37. You could have easily checked this but chose not to. Most of the rest was also conjectural or false.
