Nux Mg 30 USB Recording | REAMP and MORE!

  • Nux Mg 30 Usb Recording. This is probably the most requested topic on my channel lately so here you go. I will take you through the three different USB routing modes of the MG-30 including the Normal, Dry/Wet Out, and of course Reamping. I'm still blown away by how much NuX has put into this board as it's so easy to make it your go to audio interface. Please note that in this demo I used Reaper, but any DAW should be able to get the job done. Enjoy!

    Hi. First say, the best pedal guy ever🤟🏽
    Just a problem and hope you can guide me. I connect the mg 30 to my Daw, I use FL Studio. And though I hear and see the signal of the guitar on the mixer, it hardly reaches - 15 dB. I've tried everything, but cannot manage to rise the input signal. 😢

    Hoping you’ll see this because I’m pulling my hair out with this - trying to reamp with mg30 and a patch with IR off and an IR plugin on the track I’m reamping to - but I only hear the signal from the mg30 sounding terrible with no IR and not hearing the IR plugin. I thought that the audio coming out of the mg30 headphone Jack would be the output on my master bus and not the actual audio being recorded from the device itself?
    Looking to do this as an easy way to dial tones with the IR plugin and when happy, export the IR to wav to load onto the mg30

    Does it allow you to send the audio output to another device when you're recording or do you *have* to use the built-in headphone port to be able to listen to both your guitar and whatever's playing in the DAW?

    Ah I'm sorry maybe my comment would have been better placed here instead of the other video, so I'm posting it here again in case others may have encountered the same issue and can help: I'm incredibly frustrated right now. My MG30 won't send a signal to my Mac over USB. I'm in Studio Direct Mode, I can switch through my patches and Quicktone responds, so there IS connectivity, but no Sound comes through. Mac shows the MG30 is connected as input but doesn't get signal, Reaper doesn't get a signal as well. When I connect my headphones to the unit I get sound but nothing will get sent through to my Mac. It is driving me nuts at this point. Can you give any advice? I already re-installed the driver on the MG30, Quick-Tone, everything. Nothing works. I'm out of ideas...

    Ok, when I record reamping to another track - what is the difference between outputting to Output 1/2 and outputting to Output 3/4? Is the signal in Input 1/2 any way different in these two options? Would it be bad recording reamped track using Output 1/2? I can hear no difference - this is why I ask.

    • @Drumming_Monkey
      @Drumming_Monkey 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's been a year, but if you're still interested in an answer: If I don't misunderstand your question, the only difference is that Reamp Input 1/2 - Output 1/2 overwrites the previous dry track with the new reamp, while Input 1/2 - Output 3/4 records the new reamp track to Output 3/4 as the name suggests, so you get a new track without deleting the original (as long as you've also assigned the corresponding Output 3/4 to your DAW on another track). It's just a way to make sure you keep your dry track, there is no difference in sound. That's why I prefer the dry-out method with the wet signal on 3/4, because it creates two tracks at the same time, I can jam with my favourite effects chain and if I want to change something with plugins or whatever, I can still do that because I still have my dry track there. It's just more practical to me.

    • @piotrrusk
      @piotrrusk 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Drumming_Monkey Ok. I think I understand the difference.
      The recorded music through reamped 1/2 and 3/4 with dry 1/2 would be the same - it will be the original recording after applying the current NUX MG-30 settings.
      The difference would be what goes to 1/2 outputs while recording. With wet output 1/2 will be with effects applied, with dry - just the original.
      I think it would be useful, if we want to do something else with the original signal *during* recording.
      Thanks for your answer! 🙂

      Not following what you're asking for here. Are you asking if you can reprocess your tracks recorded with the MG-30 into plug-ins? Please be specific.

      Also keep in mind that this video is from last year. The latest version of the firmware supports a dry/wet for using plugins in a daw

      So basically what I am asking is, if I want to use another plugin such as Neural etc is there a way to completely bypass quicktone and use the mg30 as a simple interface. I also wanted to use a plugin tuner as it is more efficient.
      I was also looking to use an IR loader plugin to test various IRs more rapidly.
      Hope this makes sense !

      @@ThePedalGuy i tried a while a go. I use 2 channel mini mixer which i bought on online store. It's yamaha M4 mixer. Then i use open camera app on play store which i downloaded. Set the auio option on settings on open camera then that's it i figure it out. Mixer serves as audio interface i guess because you can also connect to a Desktop computer and it also work but the disadvantage is it has a humming sound because the mixer need a 5v 1amp or 2amp power source. But if you use 5v 1amp or 2amp power source there's no humming sound or unnecessary sound.

    Hi ! if I use my DAW cubase and the USB for the Nux MG30. how the track is loaded ? do I need to create a track or is it automatically done with a function ? (and by the way, is look like a stereo track as is showed in your video)

    • @ThePedalGuy
      @ThePedalGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you would select the MG30 as you’re audio device in cubase, create a stereo track and that should do it.
      Keep I mind that every daw has its way of working and it’s been years since I last used cubase so you’ll need to refer to the cubase manual to be sure

      It can be useful if I choose USB mic and keyboard for a recording.. even if I think the analog connection must be the solution, without using 2 external sound cards device for the same project... except If I can plug the mic in the Nux Mg30 and bypass the guitar effects...
