  • In this adventure motovlog I test out some soft luggage that I ordered for my Honda CRF 300L with a drive through the mountains near to where I live.
    The Honda CRF 300L is a great lightweight and relatively cheap option for adventure touring and with a few mods seems like the perfect bike to explore the islands here.
    I am slowly prepping the CRF 300L for some longer adventure trips and a big part of that was finding the right luggage setup. I need to have enough room for all the camera gear, GoPro's, drones etc as well as the usual clothings etc. Finding a suitable setup that doesn't get roasted by the high mount exhaust without paying a fortune for top branded gear has been a challenge but I think I found a great setup. The panniers are from a company called Rhinowalk.
    The plan is to get the motorbike ready for some epic adventures around the Philippines and then I will be creating motovlog episodes of my adventures.

    Cut those balls off the end of the levers and sand them smooth. I was always told they are only there so in stock form if you crash and fall on your bike it is to stop them from going through you. With the hang guards on you do not need them. I did the same on my 300L.

      I was going to get a circular saw to do this although I’ve ended up ordering shorty levers instead . Not going to be able to install them for a little while as I’m back in the uk for a while but it’s on my to do list when I’m back with the bike.

      I definitely plan to. I am currently making plans to tour the Philippines on my CRF and a new Transalp.

    Nice ride. Thank you for sharing those cultural insights with us. I hope that you're not put on ironing duties for a week, after running off with your wife's clothes for a luggage test! I enjoyed the high level sections of the Vegetable Highway.

    I ditched those acerbis handguards. Any tipover they bend. Had trouble with the stock clutch lever. Replaces with Zeta Armor Pro 👌🏻way better.

    • @PhotoNMoto
      @PhotoNMoto  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s interesting. Where are they bending? On the guard or the mount?
      I’ve now managed to find a Barkbusters dealer in country and have a pair of them on order for my VStrom. I’ll have to see how the Acerbis hold up for now on the CRF. Just as an update. The Rally tipped over in a loose gravel/sand car park yesterday and while it was obviously not the worst of drops the handguards and crash guards did exactly what they’re supposed to. Apart from a couple of scuffs to the handguards there wasn’t another mark on the bike and the Acerbis handguards didn’t budge, bend or break.

    Hi my dude, I just came across your channel after looking at vstrom 650 reviews all morning. I'm also from Cebu (born and raised), and I plan on selling my R3 for an ADV bike, or any other naked. I've recently had an interest in exploring the outlying islands on two wheels. Think maybe we could connect and ride with you soon? I currently live on the island of Mactan, but we have an ancestral house in the town of Alegria which is about 30kms south of Barili.

      Hey Josh,
      Thanks for your comment. The V Strom 650 is a good bike. I’m not sure they are available (new) here now. The 1050XT Is also a good option. I currently have the base model Africa Twin which is also awesome and can recommend it.
      Naked bikes I went with the Z900 as I love the engine.
      I’d definitely be up for a ride sometime. I have been through Alegria a few times. I like the coastal road down that way.
      Just hit me up if you’re planning a trip down this way.

      @@PhotoNMoto I will definitely hit you up. I've watched most of your videos and you and I share the same sentiments about living a simple life in the province.
      I too, want to explore other areas accessible with two wheels. I know a few trails behind our house that leads to three waterfalls that only a few locals know, so that's probably where I'll start.
      I've been looking at the CRF300 rally since it's perfectly capable for touring and off road riding, and it's cheap to maintain and run, unfortunately it's just too tall for me (I'm only 5'7").
      Still looking at other options, though.

      Hi Vince, sorry, I’ve been really busy and also deleted FB. Yes I’m around and my daughter goes back to school this week so should have time for a ride the following week if you’re free. Send me an email davidfleet81@gmail.com and then I’ll give you my mobile

    Hi David. Are all this small roads on tomtom? How do you deal with your riding gears and the constant hot weather?

    • @PhotoNMoto
      @PhotoNMoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, yes they’re on the south east Asia map on my TomTom. I don’t cope with it very well, in all honesty the heat and humidity is horrendous with all the riding gear on. I drink lots of water, unzip my jacket a couple of inches to improve ventilation, wear the lightest and most ventilated protective gear I can and avoid congested areas where slow moving traffic means less wind cooling me down. In all honesty, I’d rather ride in cold weather than hot. All this means I don’t ride that much here anymore, no long trips anyway. Now if I was in Europe I’d have kept my Africa Twin and had some epic adventures. Here, the heat ruins it for me so I hop in the car and blast the aircon. I still have 3 bikes but I’m going to cut that down to just my CRF and do local rides only I think.

      @carletto_au 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PhotoNMoto yeah, I was battling with heat as well when I was in Negros last year. I believe a powerful scooter is the way to go since the engine is away from the rider. A light summer jacket in traffic still is too much sometimes. Maybe an off-road protection will be light enough I guess
