Aye, I feel the same way when watching computer people gush over 40MB hard-drives, it's all about perspective. When I entered High School; I was gifted with my first messaging phone (coming from a basic flip phone). The Samsung Impression 😍 I was impressed by the display size - all 3.2 inches of it! Coming from a 1.5” TFT, it was quite the upgrade. I also remember liking the camera tho I'm sure it was rubbish even for the day. After that phone, I moved up to a Bold 9900 and goodness what an upgrade! Was magical but I suppose everyone remembers their first smartphone experience as such. Anyways, that fella only had a 2.5” display. Crispy but tiny. Couldn't remember the name (of the Samsung) and so went hunting on the Wayback Machine. Got slapped with nastalgia! -- Would recommend.
Honestly I've come back here just because it was my 2nd android smartphone and 1st high-end one and it still works today, still strong I use it as a back-up and it still isn't laggy, for a UI like this it's just mindblowing. Amazing how well made and overall good this phone was in 2012. I miss HTC now that they are almost dead with Sony.
You can find many shadows of htc sense UI in iOS7, such as weather animation and multitasking cards of iOS7. HTC did innovate in the early days, and it was a great company at that time.
Watching in December, 2023. Boy, do I miss that time. I never had this beautiful phone, but with HTC being my favorite brand of all time, I know I would’ve loved this. Phones are so boring these days. I’ll never like anything like I liked HTC. Ever. 💚
This was my first touchscreen android smartphone. Just stumbled upon this video in 2020 and holy moly does this ever bring back the feels 😂 it's absolutely insane to see how far smartphones have come since then!
Man, ur reviews is so casual yet professional and it has it's own style. It makes viewers hooked in less than 10 seconds. What kind of sorcery is this?
Just happen to look at this video because my LG G3 broke up and a friend borrowed this phone to me, yes, both phones are way too old, I know lol I gotta say I enjoyed watching how you've changed through all these years and how phones have changed too, look at that, "Massive 4.7' display" and "a camera that delivers". Time sure flies and we don't even notice, keep it up bro!
Came back to this video. This phone was my favourite phone, ever. That design was amazing at the time. The ceramic coating on there seriously NEVER scratched.
i'm really happy that htc did not forget about this phone. now we have Android version 4.2.2 and the latest sense 5 as seen on the htc One! And we can choose that the multi-tasking button can be menu button and we won't have that stupid menu button in every app. (they fixed it a long time ago) It's still a great phone after almost 2 years! so happy i got it!
I had the One X+ from Telus and it never got Sense 5/Android 4.2.2, even though AT&T eventually got it. It was even more humiliating Telus did agree to give an urgent OTA fix for the Heartbleed vulnerability but still didn't offer the latest software. I can't fully blame HTC but they didn't push Telus hard enough for such. Since then I've only bought unlocked devices overseas.
Charlie Countryman things change fast..remember the note 1 with its 5.2 inch screen was gigantic. now im using the g4 with 5.5 screen and it looks normal.
+SuperVegeta I mean honestly, screen sizes are getting out of hand. 90% of users don't need a near 6" screen or half the performance most flagships have. I'd rather have around a 5" screen that I can actually use with my hand instead of fumbling with everyone's UIs that aren't built around the screens they're displaying them on.
I really miss these days of smartphones. Every new one was exciting, unlike now when every phone is the same looking giant phablet. I really miss having a lot of phones this size to choose from. 4.7” with 720p is an excellent display and more than ok for anything we need with our phones, no matter what people say with 6.5” QHD displays nowadays. Still using an iPhone 7 due to lack of options out there.
i had two (the first one battery broke) and yeah both of the batteries broke. sometimes the battery would die when it was PLUGGED IN. i ended up just getting an iphone.
Was waiting ages for you to upload this vid! And was it worth the wait? YEEEAH!! Awesome review man! What will you be using from now as your daily driver???
Its pritty nice. It doesn't lag at all. The battery is getting worse (naturaly) and I got the nieuwest android version for it on it. It does have problems with charging but I think thats my charger and not the phone. Over all its a great phone. I'd still reccoment it to anyboddy who wants a payable phone.
On another note (no pun intended) I bought an unlocked Galaxy Nexus yesterday instead of a One X or SGSIII. Pure android with no physical button, guaranteed fastest instant OS updates by google, and £150 cheaper price won me over.
Owismael Probably. Not dogging on HTC there are plenty of features I do miss but I do enjoy being able to switch batteries out at my leisure and even with regular use throughout the day I come home and I'm at about 50%
Honestly, kind of sad to realize that I just found his channel like 2 years ago, but it It's crazy to think that he's been making videos this long about devices honestly used to love this phone. I still have it though I can't get it to connect to Wi-Fi or anything. It was a great phone for me though.
oh man what memories... I had this phone for a year and a half, then moved to the m7 (just as the m8 released, my bad oversight lol), and just recently got a Galaxy S6.. but God I loved this phone.
I may be 5 years too late, but you could map a long-press of the task manager button to be the menu button, and with that setting the phone would stop showing the on-screen menu button in some applications. This phone may be way outdated by now, but that design really felt perfect at the time. It even had wireless charging through those 5 pins on the back (you could buy a special HTC dock/speaker which could play music from the phone while charging it, both through the pins instead of a cable).
Gotta love 2012 tech haha I'm using the one m8 right now and I love your videos so naturally I had to watch this video, I'm amazed at how far android has come in such a small amount of time
Trust me the One X has everything perfect but the battery and that's why I now have an S5 from Samsung, just because of that amazing battery life despite its flaws (design or lags or front facing camera that distorts your face ^^)
My girlfriend used to have a one x, and after late afternoon everyday she would text me to tell me to contact her on Facebook because her phone was out of battery.
@CalebHolcomb about 5 months. I never overcharged it and i've read from numerous users that the 1800MAH battery is horrific compared to the 2100MAH in the SIII or the 3100MAH in my Note II. Please don't make the same mistake. Choose wisely.
Thanks ALOT ! appreciate the feedback, you always manage to reply with all those comments rushing in...i'm already subscribed to Droiddog so i'll be waiting..and amazing review btw, just as expected, keep it up.
Boom, this is what HTC needs with the M11, I love this phone! In the same way the iPhone 4 is apples best design, the OneX is HTCs. I would love to see this design with a large 5inch panel, curved into the sides like the S8. Would be sooo good!!
I'm glad you got the HTC one X marques, it is one beast of a phone and I think I should know since playing with my brothers for quite a while. I have one thing to say though, don't you think you should of the dual core model? You do live in USA right? I heard it offers the same performance if not better in some areas and plus much better battery!
I think that HTC is severely underrated. Everyone is on about Samsung, but I think that the build quality is better on the HTC phones, and everything just seems to be perfect. I'm even one of those people who prefers HTC's Sense UI. I bought an HTC Desire HD in late 2010 (when it came out) and I'm still loving it. I dropped it on the concrete, where it slid, and it's still looking fine! I love mine, and this looks great, too! This looks like another beast! (It just needs a "home" button.)
I am a Apple fanboy but perfectly executed video Marques. ;) I just started a month ago making TH-cam videos about the latest and greatest in the Apple world. But the way you record your videos like a boss awesome!
Awesome review Marques, lol built like a bauss. I found the notification LED being in the speaker grill on the One S a bit weird but I guess it takes some getting used to. It will be interesting to see how the One X compares to the S III. Awesome camera effects and I really do love your style of videos, I will use it as inspiration for my One S review in a few weeks. As always, keep up the bauss videos!
Yeah, the screen being black looks awesome on the white background and it just looks more seamless I guess. I normally prefer black but there is just something that clicks with black on white.
Pretty good. I have one. Clocked around 2 days for average usage for me. But for heavy usage, it's good for one day. charge overnight and you're good to go!
I really miss this phone.. I would sware by it when I worked at Carphone over the Samsung s 3 as I absolutely hated the weird pebal design. I hope smartphones become cool again with their designs instead of a blank full-screen edge-to-edge display, as they all just look the same now.
This phone is probably the best looking phone ever made. Seriously its freakin gorgeous. Nice honest review man. Love it when there's no bias at all. No need to nitpick at dumb things like "oh but it doesn't have a glass back therefore its shit." Can't stand that shit.
Great review! Thank you so much, and also thank you so much for replying to my comments every time I leave one on your videos! Are you going to get an S3 for review anytime soon?
Oh one final point about the memory issue - sometime it will close out your music app which is playing away in the background when opening something seemingly simple just because Sense is a higher priority in memory. Basically I cannot rely on my phone doing anything in the background.
Ah, I had this phone from 2012-2014. I loved it, though HTC Sense back then was still quite laggy and differed quite a bit from stock Android. Now it's almost identical, but with extra features. But I remember how much I loved the weather widgets. There was one where if it was raining, windshield wipers would go across the screen lol. A bit over the top by today's standards of minimalism, but it was still cool.
It's not the way ICS is designed. Google told OEM's to put three buttons, wether they be hardware, capacitive or on screen, and make them Back,Home,Multitasking. Buy the phone, root it, install InsertCoin Rom and the Multitasking button turns into a menu button, and multitasking is accessed by holding down the home key.
I still use this one. It's been dropped an x amount of times but still functions perfectly with just minor signs of wear. Battery life isn't the greatest tho.
The golden era of HTC
Its so funny to hear you say massive 4.7'' 720p display.
iPhone have 3,5 and 4 inch of display which is big enough that time, when Android phone try to produce bigger display than iPhone..
So 4,7 is big..
It's even funnier in 2020
back in the day..it is massive..but if you say it nowadays of course it is funny as hell 😆
Aye, I feel the same way when watching computer people gush over 40MB hard-drives, it's all about perspective.

And quad core and android 4.0.3 I remember ice cream sandwich being revolutionary. When everyone had gingerbread

It does kill the battery pretty quickly, you have to manage apps to slow down the drain. All due to the big screen and background apps.
About the giant menu button, you can set your recent apps button to act as a menu button on tap, and as a recent apps button on a long press.
