Seriously man? Dane you made out great. Throw them up on the wall for $59.99. with gig bag. Anybody who buys one of those guitars is not going to be shredding up in the 12th to 14th frets anyway. It would be a $60 guitar to play cowboy chords on all day and have some fun and not worry about having to break it. You'll make your money back easily.
Hello Dane. I have the “As Seen On TV” Roy Clark acoustic guitar, (with picks, a strap and a pitch pipe) that was given to me by a senior gentleman that was an employee at a Walmart. We became good friends and he remembered that I mentioned that I play guitar. He brought it one day when I went back to Walmart. He showed it to me and he said, “it”s yours now. I can’t play the damn thing.” That was 25 + years ago. It’s plays good, compared to what you have there. 😆 By the way, you’ll probably get your money back with the small practice amps.
No you didnt waste money a few mins with a fret rocker and small and fret eraser its all good even if you want to that ,I just bought a kramer guitar from ams american musical supply it was roughly 800 bucks new and and I had 2 high frets ended up doing alittle work but its alright ,pretty neat guitars really
I dunno man, seems to me like you could spot level the one fret that's bad and have a decent guitar. The main issue with all cheap guitars from that era was the frets. This was really common for sub $500 acoustics from the late 20-teens. You could get real lucky and only have to repair one fret or you may end up doing several but in the end once that's done that's still a $100-150 guitar. GuitarCenter seems think they're worth around $200. You should come out smelling like a rose on this deal, stop giving negative vibes!
Finish flaw you could probably sand out and polish. Cheap guitar, not surprising there would be a neck problem over 7 years. Fix the frets; should be stable. I’d say $60 easy, maybe more. Amps should easily be worth $30 each. I’d say you did well.
hey Dane actually those are not CDs Those are DVDs, you put them into a Blu-ray player or something that can play DVDs and it’s a video of Keith Urban teaching you how to play the guitar and a particular song, I think each DVD has like a lesson of one or two songs on it that shows you how to play it all the way through even the guitar solo I think, not exactly for beginners in my opinion. Just thought I’d let you know.
My opinion all they need is a good setup and fret job. You can get your money out of them and make a profit. They look great and for the price worth every penny. I've bought a $500 acoustic electric name brand guitar that needed a fret job at the 14th fret. I was highly pissed that happened after less than 30 days. Because it didn't do that at the shop. The shop took care of it, but in hindsight, I should have returned it.
If they will stay in tune and are playable, you could double your money and give some kid with not much money a guitar and amp for $60. I would've jumped on that when I was a kid with not much money. Back then $60 might get you a railroad tie with barbed wire on it. And your dad complained this rest of your life that he spent a bunch of money and you didn't stick to it.
i used to see these at goodwills all over town along with the randy jackson ones (the electrics) couple of years ago, ppl used to buy them turn around and intermediately post them on craigs or market place thinking they were going to make money off of them, they totally dropped the ball by not making randy's basses.
When my mom bough my first guitar, she said, 'buy one that you always will want to always play'. She bought me a Carvin V220!! I miss that guitar. I once got an Estaban guitar. I had it for about a week. I now have Carvins, Schecters, Ibanez, Godin, Seagull, and other quality instruments. The only way to go is what works for you.
Here is the problem that I bet you havent noticed yet. The tops on those are so thin that any vigorous strumming flexes the top and throws it badly out of tune.
I got 20 small 10 watt Keith Urban amps from an Unclaimed Freight place in Peoria, Il. I paid 9.99 for each and sold them for 35.00 each. I also got some larger ones for 19.99 each and sold them for 45.00. They had reverb in them. I got one or two that had Randy Jacksons name on the amps too. That was back in 2017.
I bought a Randy Jackson guitar about 16 years ago and I had to do fret work on it, plus I re-shaved the braces, replaced the nut & saddle with GraphTech saddles, and it sounds like a million bucks now.
The only downside to this situation: if the guitar is semi-garbage, you may totally scare off the new player. I myself started playing guitar around 1970, and quit soon thereafter. Started/quit guitar 3 or 4 times.....crappy guitars, wouldn't tune, action that could require to the local E.R. to stop the bleeding.... Then my grandfather bought me a Japanese "Heit" brand guitar. Been playing(poorly!)ever since. Give yours to a school or church....
They look pretty good, a little fretwork and hydration, tune one standard, one downtuned and one open G, would be great to have around the house, no worries about dings.
Congrats on your new guitars....flaws are minor...nothiing to be shocked of...just like any new instrument we purchase....we do some adjusments on it to fit to how we feel during play....goodluck...God bless
I think they'll play with more work than they are probably worth brand new. That said, are they better as fixed gifts. The amp & gig bag might get a return. But the hard part is whether to part them out as a player pack for items or keep them together as a fret & level ? There might be a truss rod adjustment that might cure where what seemed to be a fret out high/low fret that is a single location on each guitar ? Sometimes we do things for saving the good out of the bones of a guitar. These are 7 year old guitars, never unboxed. I ended up with a pre-owned Ovation Applause that had it's share of issues. I took my time with it, but it plays quite well today. I bought it Oct 2019, under $ 200, I never expected it to be a $ 500+ acoustic electric, but with enough work to understand what I needed to fix, I had to learn as a 1st timer, the issues are at least compensated for to arrive at a guitar I wouldn't resell as my personal daily player of an acoustic and that fell into place a couple/few years into my ownership. I'd break out a truss rod wrench and see if I could get rid of the fret buzz for that one problem area with a loosen & tightening process. Eyeballing the neck never really took the place of actually using the straight edge and adjustment process. My eyeballing is relatively close for accuracy, but it's not that good that the fretboard ruler wasn't more accurate for making sure it was flat. Just as a fret rocker is going to be better for determining the high vs level vs low frets. String height action gauge being the 3rd tool that will help you determine. As for profitable ? If these guitars haven't sold in 7 years, the market, the economics of that has sailed I think. Are we staring 2024 & guitar market has dried up from a 2020-2022ish pandemic frenzy when the guitar industry had it's best run for inflation ?
Most likely they did not show Keith the actual production guitars. They showed him prototypes and/or guitars made with more care and QC. Then rolled out cheaper, more quickly made guitars to the public.
Keith is a good guy. I blame the makers! However, he should've had quality control in place. I guess he was a "Stupid Boy", which was written by my friend Dave Berg. That song actually began as "Stupid Girl". Ha! You'll make your money back Dane just because it came from you. :)
In spite of it being a cheap infomercial guitar, I'd guess that it's still better than the early 1970's acoustic from Sears catalog I started with back then.
@ZIMMSGUITARS Those guitars sound excellent. Sounds like you took that offer to pay $90 for all 3 guitars. The tone on all 3 guitars sound excellent. I'm surprised all 3 guitars survived in the boxes and thank goodness they survived these past 7 years.
I remember seeing those on the shopping network, and they were mostly cool looking guitars to bad they don't play as well as they look .I guess I'm glad I never took the plunge and bought one.
Those are nice enough. Condition the necks. You’re certainly not gonna sell them by saying they are terrible. Lol. They sound good. $60 each. $20 on the amps and you’re in business. Also those are instructional DVDs. In reality Keith offered an amazing deal. Those guitars are designed to get people playing Cowboy chords.
Music stars who use their fame to sell junk should be FORCED to perform using one of their instruments right out of the box. Kieth should have to do a tour using one.
I have seen Gibson and Martins that don't measure up also. I have played both that fret out. It would be a good guitar for a student or a person wanting to learn to set up guitars or become a luthier.
You did okay. You should easily double your money. Sell the guitars as Chris Urban signature guitars. Maybe they are collector items for Urban fans. They are cool wall hangers.
Keith Urban doesn't care, and neither does HSN. They made their money from from people, and that's what matters. My mother-in-law bought two of these from my nieces. One smashed hers to make a TH-cam video, and the other is collecting dust in a basement. And she said that's where it'll stay, because she's playing a much better one.
I had an Esteban that was given to me by an ex gfs father,he sold stuff at flea markets and she saw the guitar and grabbed it for me,she says I have a surprise for you and she pulled it out of the closet,it played really good,(wait for it)until the neck came off the body, then I tossed it out after she dumped me lmao!
Imagine if they built these guitars today. The fretboard and neck could be heat-treated to remove stability and movement problems. I don't know if those guitars have truss rods as they are, but they almost certainly would have them today. In short, these would probably be decent buys if made with current processes.
It's possible, Dane, that one or more of these relics has accidentally aged into viability during the 7 years they were sitting around in their boxes. Could be they're actually worthwhile now. Hope that's the case, because if so, you could recoup on the guitars alone!
I have only had experience with their electrics and they were not horrible. They need the usual set ups, some fret work, neck adjustment etc inexpensive guitar seem to need right out of the box. They can be decent players when properly fixed. I have gotten a few for free fixed them up and given them away after. I do not do acoustic guitars I can pretty much set up and make an electric work well but acoustics just are something I avoid.
what a bargain - id be putting them cd tins up on ebay, the amps could be given with the guitars all you have to do is tap in or level each of the high frets and oil the fretboards surley some one would love a Keith Urban guitar pack, well him Mom might anyways. You should easily triple your investment here.
id think you could at least double your money on each guitar set. they are not terrible and a little fret work they should be fine for a beginner player. id say 75 per guitar and amp set would be fair
those CD's rent useless, best part of the deal, they are instructional videos.. a guy can learn to play guitar with those... even tho the guitars are low end Keith is a decent player, knows what he is doing anyway, enough to get a guy up and playing for sure, that's what matters the most

And those guitars aren't total junk... I'm sure you could ask $100 each for them and probably take $90. Not a bad score, if I do say so myself.
Ide say they are collectable,i mean imagine if you had a gutiar made years ago with willeys name on it and a dvd of him teaching how to play whay that might be worth now
Urban, besides being a 'top-notch' player, always comes over as a decent person. He's a successful man so it makes you wonder why he's associating himself with poor quality instruments. Still think you made a good deal overall.
They’re unfortunately as doo doo as it gets Zimm! I wonder if you could make more just selling the easily removable parts? I also agree they really tried making them look the buisness but unfortunately it’s an instrument not a car. I remember my cousin buying one of these and the Sambora models a long time ago from HSN or QVC and both did initially look ok from a distance when i first saw them in person but both had many flaws, dead frets, intonation and tuning issues, etc… Adjusting the Truss does help at first but you need time for it to set in and at some point the neck will relieve/bend forward till the truss doesn’t work anymore, most of which you of course openly admit and are fully transparent about. Both guitars ultimately were a scam as most infomercial items are. Still love the shop, content and all you do tho Dane! Ultra🎸
Have you set up any of these guitars and, if so, are they useable for a budget model. If so, how much for the blue set? Asking for a friend…wink, wink!
Hello Dane , they may be cheap but they look awesome. Looks like a fret job for at least 2. Hopefully time has stabilized the fret board some maybe with that fret job it will do ok. Aside from the fret board issue they do have really good tone. They may be made into decent beginner guitars. Look at it like this, the more guitar players in the area; it may mean more business for you long term. How many guitar players you know with only 1 guitar 🎸? 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM.
easy fix truss rod adjustment fret file and crown about 30 minutes time. shouldn't be a complaint here. it is a beginner guitar. I have had squires and Epiphone do that in the past. You are a little too sensitive over this. This is normal for beginner guitars.
You could always donate the guitars to a high school in Mesa, if they still have music classes.
And get a tax deduction!
Seriously man? Dane you made out great. Throw them up on the wall for $59.99. with gig bag. Anybody who buys one of those guitars is not going to be shredding up in the 12th to 14th frets anyway. Exactly.
Level the frets and do a fall away that will fix the issue
I think you scored Dane 💯🙌🏼💯🙌🏼💯You will definitely make money

Oh, I see, they are the modern day Esteban. Funny right after I made this comment you said the same thing.

He has new guitars that are made by Yamaha now and they're actually not bad. But you're right, the ones that HSN made were horrible.
Yamahas are good as are the Ibanez
I dunno man, seems to me like you could spot level the one fret that's bad and have a decent guitar. The main issue with all cheap guitars from that era was the frets. Be great for a kid wanting to start out. 50 bucks in incredibly fair. Like you said some filing can fix that but a kid come on it's a dream come true.

Why ask me? I've wasted $90 on dumber things...
Haha. Me too. Like a slot machine.
@@michaelsine5586 wanted to comment the same 😂

Quality control there is not anymore love what you do love all the videos
I think so. But then again it depends on what the price tag is.
The amp works ok for what they are. My wife bought one for herself. I can’t get it in tuned for her. So now she uses my Washburn d10s.
As long as you make your money back, the only thing wasted might be your time. But it’s all about the journey right..? 🤘🏼
Most likely they did not show Keith the actual production guitars.

The kicker is that those early Seventies catalog guitars are selling for hundreds now 😅
Remember that Buck Owens red, white and blue acoustic?
I'd be tickled pink at that deal! For something to kick around with I'd be thrilled.

Keith Urban doesn't care, and neither does HSN. They made their money from from people, and that's what matters. My mother-in-law bought two of these from my nieces. Ironically Urban doesn’t play any of those but you’ll make money on that investment. The electric Estebans were highly regarded by Scott Grove.

Make your money back off the amps at 30 each and maybe donate the guitars to a local schools music program.
Seems like a tiny business risk for a fun little video. Give it a tremolo lol. Happy Halloween 🎃
I have only had experience with their electrics and they were not horrible. They need the usual set ups, some fret work, neck adjustment etc inexpensive guitar seem to need right out of the box. That’s what happens when they mass produce them so fast
Decorative wall hangers for Keith Urban fans I think!!
what a bargain - id be putting them cd tins up on ebay, the amps could be given with the guitars all you have to do is tap in or level each of the high frets and oil the fretboards surley some one would love a Keith Urban guitar pack, well him Mom might anyways. You should easily triple your investment here.
You just need a good luthier to fix them.
HSN means "crap inside" Yes, you wasted your money..😂
Not a waiste of money. Somebody can use them to practice working on guitars or just a campsite beater. Maybe even help start a campfire 😂🔥
No Waste Of Money-Enjoy it
Dane, what did you think about Ozzie’s induction?
iT WAS COOL!!
The pickguard on the second one was badly positioned. That alone tells you something about the build quality.
id think you could at least double your money on each guitar set. they are not terrible and a little fret work they should be fine for a beginner player. id say 75 per guitar and amp set would be fair
Thanks!
Just advertise them as "aged in cardboard for 7 years!"
those CD's rent useless, best part of the deal, they are instructional videos.. a guy can learn to play guitar with those... even tho the guitars are low end Keith is a decent player, knows what he is doing anyway, enough to get a guy up and playing for sure, that's what matters the most
Make for a nice little guitar for a kid that's probably going to put it in the closet a couple weeks after he gets it
Waste of money? Three acoustic-electrics that look like that- with amps- for $90? Nice score!
For the price man! You could donate them and have a tax write-off. Or sell em in a raffle or something.
He should apologize for his music first.
Sell em for a hundred dollars a piece and you tripled your profit
You can donate to any schools of your choice. That would be awesome.
If you can get them playing properly you can probably get 50$ each for new examples. Yeah they suck but for the price of a few drinks you can get a guitar 😂.
Nah u can create a beginner bundle for kids with a learning booklet are video for $65 bucks. U never wasted anything on music other than time
Every dollar you spend is wasted when you think about it, so dont think about it
if i was looking for a cheap acoustic hellyeah I'd buy it
No effects loop on on the amp you definitely got ripped off. Send them back!
Dude!!! I live in Mesa!!! Where are you located?
If I play any martins or taylors with buzzing frets. I will let you know when I get one for 30$
The bridge is THICK whoa
$50-$60 a piece and you'll make your money back. $25 a piece for the Amps and you'll do alright. I buy things and put them on Marketplace for a good price. Not trying to get rich.
Some nice blue plywood there
^They would probably be okay guitars for a novice to play :cowboy chords.*
Good luck with selling the amplifiers with out the guitars
i say smash all the guitars and make a video calling out keith urban!! u can get more than$90 bucks out of the 3 amps and 3 gig bags
Urban Cowboy was a big flop just because they used the word Urban. Urban on a guitar didn’t seem to help too much either.
You've potentially made your money back already...
Considering those amps will probably sell for $30 or $35 each, the gig bags for $15 or $20 apiece, the straps for $3 or $5 each, the patch cords for a buck or two...

I wonder if you could make more just selling the easily removable parts?
I also agree they really tried making them look the buisness but unfortunately it’s an instrument not a car.
I remember my cousin buying one of these and the Sambora models a long time ago from HSN or QVC and both did initially look ok from a distance when i first saw them in person but both had many flaws, dead frets, intonation and tuning issues, etc…
Adjusting the Truss does help at first but you need time for it to set in and at some point the neck will relieve/bend forward till the truss doesn’t work anymore, most of which you of course openly admit and are fully transparent about.
Both guitars ultimately were a scam as most infomercial items are.
Still love the shop, content and all you do tho Dane! Ultra🎸
Dude, you can sell the bag, amp, straps etc... separate then sell the guitar to beginners!
6:40 seasoned them
If there's a $10 bill in each ones case you might break even
I've had 3-4 urban guitars fuckin awesome guitars
I hate those damn guitars too.I will buy all of them form you for a $100
If Keith Urban doesn't play his own guitars why would anyone else want to play them 😂
The kieth urban package that sounds nothing like kieth urban.
