Bought a 2007/9? model around that time for $175. Thing was a chunk of solid wood with a nice thick neck. After replacing the pickups, nut, and saddles, and doing a setup to adjust the action and straighten the neck, the thing is one hell of an instrument. I’ve played guitars triple the price I don’t like as much.
My Fender Squier Affinity Tele had incredibly bad fret sprout. But I bought a Stew Mac fret file and fixed the problem. I also installed a Graph Tech nut. It plays and sounds great!
I've been playing one through a Fender Champion 40 amp for six years. Mine says"Tele" on the headstock without slot style tuners and no skunk stripe and finish is darker. It does alright. Thanks for posting. God bless Rock on 🙏🎶🎵❗👀
This week while at GC a dude anxiously approached me for help on getting his first guitar, as he didn’t know anything or know how to play. There was a used affinity telecaster selling for under 200 that played and sounded good, but he could not be persuaded because he didn’t like the bright fender colors. He also didn’t like the mustangs for the same reason. He left dropping 500 on a prs because it was black
They are great guitars for the money but in my case what i found when i played Live gigs in Pubs or small halls years ago was the microphonic feedback was very bad , I don't think they have any shielding and the pots are probably mini pots not full size , I upgraded to a Mexican Fender Telecaster which cost just under £500 in 2018 and there's a big difference in the quality , So yeah if you have the cash get the Fender version but if your on a budget the Squier is perfect for practicing with at home and recording with.
Thanks for the feedback and this will be just for home use and recording. I checked the POTs and they are full size. I normally shield my strats so will do the same on this Squier. I have a couple of MiM strats and they are really nice especially the Series 2 Player.
@@mark_greening_gtr Cheers Mark 😀 also what was your experience with Bax music? As sadly they have a lot of negative reviews on FB people saying they did not receive their instruments and were not given refunds? So if i used them i would have to go in person i think.
@@Cayres9 This is the 2nd guitar I've bought from Bax and both times service has been good. As they are dutch based (I believe on-line) not sure if they have showrooms etc to try guitars.
That yellowish one should be ok and you should only have to do minor adjustments on it. I bought mine couple of weeks ago and it came yesterday. So far everything but the action and volume knob that is hitting something when I turn it is ok even the fretends are filed so they are smooth. A week ago I got the red one with dark fretboard but that one is not as good and needs lots of tuning up, specially the fret ends are razor sharp. th-cam.com/video/hZDxxo6vufM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fHMM7GtxTA1YxYoC
You've got two nice guitars there. Mine is now very nice since I gave it a quick setup. I did a track to show much fun it is to play th-cam.com/video/1HcCKFWQ8GA/w-d-xo.html

Sounds like a real nice guitar for you. I'm considering changing the pickups, what do you now have on yours ?

Thank you and and may you have many more years enjoying your setup 😊
I had an Affinity in that colour with a maple neck. Really liked it and good value
Thanks Rich, I'm quite surprised at how nice it is too play.
the next guitar unboxing will be my own.
Go for it they are good fun to do and the best thing is you get to play the guitar for as long as you want 😊

The look of a guitar appears to be important to beginners (it was to me when I first started) and PRS's are good guitars so he chose well😊

@mark_greening_gtr Ah must be a different company I looked up as it said that based in Folkstone 👍
@@Cayres9 I think they have a distribution centre there !!
