I hope someone here can point an old man (66 & running out of time) toward the firmware for the TV box below. When I search for a 2017 SXQ-4K….. The choices returned are changed from SXQ to MXQ. I had it a year or two, and I would watch it once in a while, and it worked well, but I kept reading to enjoy your box at its best, It should be factory reset once in a while. I remember resetting it and I think I erased something. No mater what command I try (reboot, etc.) it comes up that something didn’t start or something. (I can set it up and check the message). I had the same box and it has problems. Mine randomly restarts. I whould NOT recommend getting these boxes they have viruses that can steal your information. Also they are lying about specifications. After having one I would say that those are trash. Instead get a google chrome cast those run android too and are not that much more expensive then these shity boxes.

Try to download the 17.6.1 version of Kodi to download from the website. Take your browser on the Androidbox. Go to kodi.tv/download , scroll down en chooce your weapon. Go to Android, And download the ARM version 32bit or when your box have 64Bit, take that one. (Not nightly) After the download you can install automaticaly to click on your download.

Andreas Jerphanion your box probably has another framework that doesn't let you install kodi...delete any kodi player that the box has than try it to install kodi again !! I had a T95 Z pro android box that it has a kodi preinstalled, I deleted and install new kodi , now works great !!
The name MXQ is registered to one company, Shenzhen Shiningworth(SHININGWORTH TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD in China) trademarks.justia.com/863/79/mxq-86379195.html www.shiningworth.com/index.php/Product/productlist/id/170.html and dose not mean anything, its just a logo design with 3 English letters spelling M X Q, all other MXQ boxes are generic manufactured and are copies including MXQPro boxes(they don't make Pro boxes) this is where the MXQ Android Box came from, most of the generic MXQ boxes are rubbish, I have a MXQ Pro G9CX(its a copy) and its crap and runs to slow, can't even use it, so some lie about how much memory are in the MXQ boxes too and mod the firmware to make it look like it has 1GB ram when it has 512mb ram, so watch out, most MXQ Boxes are Generic.

this process is only for amlogic cpu . tv box and not rockship . cause there is 2 type of cpu in mxq pro . amlogic and rockship cpu
