- The most important thing to do when owning an android box is to back it up. So that when your android box begins slowing down in the future, you can simply flash this backup file and make your android box run like new again.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I am not yet familiar with kernel modding. That will be a great idea though to increase the cpu speed, however, that will also increase the temperature of rockchip processors which is already considered extremely hot when running at full speed.
@@ThinkFrugal yeah will be great if someone have the knowledge and create a video like yours, as rk3229 is really a budget slow chip so even if its overheated & fried, it wont hurt that much from your pocket.

Sir, I think we have the same unit. Mine is also an Mxq Pro 4k 5g with Rk3228a processor and Esp8089 wifi chip (based on HWinfo app). Too bad I wasn't able to create a backup and I carelessly flashed an incompatible ROM before I was able to watch this video and your new upload. I was trying to revive my box and was able to go into Maskrom mode though I don't have the stock factory firmware. Can I ask you a favor? Can you upload your backup firmware? You can search for a compatible firmware by first opening your box and identifying your wifi, processor and board model number, please refer to this photo as your guide: drive.google.com/file/d/1YFvX8xaUtRGkg_ZTjshOwet3j-UYQ1K_/view?usp=sharing. Using these info, you can now search for compatible roms from the links I have listed down in the video description.

Oo bro, pwede pang makapagflash khit naka MASK Rom mode siya. Please open your android box, at makikita mo yung board model number, and wifi chip. Use that board model number and wifi chip number to search for a compatible rom from the links na nasa video description or pwede din kahit sa google lang. Thank you for the kind words. You are doing it correctly. The "Found Loader Rockchip Device first 0x0010 NAND Blocks Reading" will really appear on the command prompt window when you dump the files, that's normal. Can you explain more about that error you experienced?

@@ksafarian I can now see what's the problem here. Unfortunately, you have those rare firmware which is in RFKP Format, and this backup procedure will not work for you. last month I bought a used "OU ZHOU X-8", and when I connected it appeared to be bricked (was turning on without loading anything), after a long search I've found nothing about this box; I've tried to install ROMs of similar boxes without luck (the ROM just stop installing with "failed to mount" errors via SD CARD method, and IDB FAIL error via USB method) so at the end I returned it back. Fast forward to today; the thrift shop got more of these Android Boxes so I got it again, meanwhile talking with the guy at the shop, he said that the one I've returned was ready to trash so he asked if I want it, so I got it, for free. Now my goal is to save a backup from the new working Android Box and install it to the bricked one. My only fear is that the process can brick the working android box; aside any third party issue, does the reading process (backup process) can corrupt the original ROM because I've used the wrong version of the tools (like using the wrong rkDumper that on the XDA website doesn't mention the RK3228A chip)? If the results is just that I can't get the backup, I'll try immediatly, if there is a risk of it, I'll wait.
Some info: on the package of the Android Box says RK3229, but on the actual chip (I've disassembled the bricked one to figured out what ROM to find) says RK3228A; the data sheet of that chip says MAX RAM 2GB, but my Android Box have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, how is this possible? Does this change anything? I will do this at my own risk, but I just want to be prepared just in case sh*t happens.

Unfortunately I've just checked the new Android Box and, despite they are identical from the package box to the case, the new Android Box have a different chip (CPUZ says RK3066, Device info HW says RK3229), so even if I backup it I can't revive the old one with a RK3228A.
I'm still interested to know if this procedure may brick the device if the software is not compatible, or just gives error.

PS: I've found a Firmware for the RK3228A that is splitted in different IMG like the one in your video, but there are no config files, is there any way to make it? They are 14 files.
Hi, performing the dumping process by rkdumper is generally safe, as it does not alter anything in your android box. It simply extracts and dumps the files from the flash drive. However, several other factors may brick your device during the flashing process, such as overvoltage, chip failure, and some other unknown reasons. These are rare cases but still worthy to note. Backup files from one box can be flashed to another as long as it has similar specs, just make sure to change the MAC address of any one of the android boxes if you are planning to connect them on the same network to avoid IP address conflict.
@@mgjfile Yes, it is possible to brick the device when a non-compatible rom is flashed, this is especially true on android boxes that are firmware locked. While other boxes are very flexible, you can flash as many firmware as you want without bricking it. I would highly recommend that you open the box, and identify first your board number and wifi chip model. This will help you in narrowing down your search for a compatible rom for your android box. As for the config files, it must come from the original dump files, as this contains the sector information where each image file will be written to.

Unfortunately I'm not able to find anything of the old android box, I can see the WiFi Chip (SV6051P) and the CPU (RK3228A) but no results for the PCB (R329Mars44_V1.0).

I made a video on this, kaso dinelete ni youtube. Just head over to apkmirror.com then search for latest netflix installer. Make sure to download the armeabi-v7a version. Save it to usb. Insert the usb to your android box and just open the installer, then click install.

Hindi na po kailangan, pero pwedeng isaksak para kita mo na kaagad kung nagreboot ng mabuti ang device after ng dumping or restoring process.

I got it. I used latest driver version wich is 5.1.1V, but using 4.5V it worked right. the only error was on the line Partition System, i got the red error: Filesystem file size is not equal partition size. but at the end. it finihed sucessfully.

It's possible po na incompatible yung rom na ginamit kaya hindi maflash. To find a compatible rom, pwede niyong i-open ang box niyo at may nakaprint na model number sa mismong circuit board ng android box niyo. Please use that to search for a compatible rom.

Ito yung marerecommend ko na mga android boxes: x96 air (1600php, 2gb version), mi box s (3000php), strong leap s1 (2000php) at mecool km2 (3500php). If malapit sa price na namention, very likely na original yan. Read buyer's feedback para sure na rin. Go for Lazmall stores para kung may problem, madaling i-return. Don't go for mxq pro 4k kung first time user ka para iwas sakit ng ulo.

Accidentally kasi na stuck sa logo ung mxq pro ko then nag flash ako ng compatible firmware ang problem is ayaw ko nung default app na netflix and youtube hindi remote friendly, then hindi ako mapakali so nag flash ako ng ibang ibang firmware then na bricked ung device. Buti naka enter ako sa masked rom by doing short pins then na flash ko ulit ung compatible firmware and sa pag hahanap ko nakakita ako ng original backup please check okay po ba ito and balik ako sa question k ona loader. About sa rom compatibilty, I suggest that you stick to the first rom na naflash niyo. Pwedeng ma-update yung mga hindi nagwowork na apps by downloading the latest apk files sa apkmirror.com. About naman sa remote compatibility, sadly, hindi talaga magwowork ang supplied remote sa Netflix, dahil sa widevine licensing, pero sa youtube, the remote will work. I recommend na gamit kayo ng air mouse, mas mabilis at smooth ang navigation pag eto ang gamit. About dun sa original firmware na nakita niyo, it may or may not work on your device, marami kasing factors na pwedeng maka affect sa flashing, it's all about taking the risk. Pero kung kabisado mo na yung mask rom method, that's great, kasi kahit mabrick pa yung box mo ng ilan beses, you can easily revive it with the mask rom method. Good job!

It means hindi po narerecognize ng PC yung MXQ niyo. It's either na hindi compatible yung cable na gamit, or hindi naka-flash mode yung MXQ nung kinonnect sa PC.

I liked all your videos, but no video states how to recover the faulty device using SD card (Tcard with 8GB) to restore the device. Sorry for what happened to your box. Unfortunately, I have not tested any tool yet to flash firmware via SD Card. Please try again to connect your box to another PC using a different full usb male to male cable. Rkdevtool or Rkbatchtool must detect your android box. Otherwise, there is no other way to flash rom to your device.

Madali lang naman mag backup ng flah ng rockchip rk322x chipset, gamit ko lang yung multitool na gamit sa armbian, meron option doon na pwede full image backup ng tvbox.
No need for this super long tutorial, kelangan mo lang sa pc is basically create a multitool sd card.
I am well aware of that method, and that was my first choice of backup before. Until one day, it bricked one my mxq and was never recovered again kahit ginawa ko na ang mask rom (shorted pins). If you get my drift you'll understand kung bakit ito na ang choice of backup ko ngayon. It could be long pero it has lesser chance to brick your device. It has been very consistent. Maybe someday I'll make a tutorial for the multitool.
@@ThinkFrugal eMMC siguro yan kaya kailangan mo mag short ng pins, NAND models dont need to do this though, I still stand to what I say though, no need for extra hoops on the software side if your main aim is to backup the ROM, restoring should be the same.
saka mo na lang alalahanin yan pag wala na talagang lumalabas sa screen whcih requires setting the eMMC to mask mode, hindi mo eto ma experience unless nag flash ka ng maling ROM. pero kung bootlooping problem lang naman yan and you already have a known good backup, hindi mo kailangan mag maskrom, so no shorthing needed.
still restoring a rom backup using multitool with emmc is possible, kailangan mo lang i short yung pin para maging maskrom mode yung emmc and multitool should bootup up on the screen and just a matter of choosing that restore backup option.
@remle ikawura It's all up to you bro. Do whatever suits you best. This is not a debate which is better between the two. If the armbian multitool works well for you, then by all means, do it. This is just an option.
