I have a np 246 and it does use a detent ballandspring. It's an 01 chevy 2500 non hd
That transfer case was toasted.

Why then..the Actuator is broken due to plastic. Broken electric shell .And water got to the elect.
.ya..it's stuck in 4x4
I went to my local salvage yard twice only found one Actuator as the same type.
It won't remove from the transfer case unless the case is split open because a dowel pin locks it ...which isn't good engineering

Ok....now I see the pump ..as a brass bushing ..and not a seal type...now
I did order the pump for a 231c k1500
And it was the same a brass bushing..on the pump and not the seal type metal and rubber which was stock.
Therefore...I went along with it...however the brass bushing was a totally different diameter and wouldn't install...BLEW MY MIND TOO..but I did find another replacement seal.
At O'Reilly..and it did install and it all went on ok..
1995 k1500 ordered
But it had the the brass bushing and it's not correct...but I did work out OK..
But ya...my salvage yard has many transfer cases ...or did 5 months ago
I better put this effort on my Facebook because I might of made a mistake upon my two which Smitty did help out a TON
Are the shift cams interchangeable I’ve heard about preload idk if it’s possible or not bought an older case need the newer spline shaft for harness to work
On the Np246, they should be the same
How do I tell if that NP246 will fit on my 1500HD..? I purchased a Tcase that was the same number on tag,but the output is different.. what do I look for.?

I have a small series on a 246 for an HD Truck. There are differences in a standard 246 and one that is an HD. Has to be from a 1500HD, or a 3/4 ton Suburban, but you can do some small upgrades on a standard 246 to make it work. I did that in the video
@@IrocinZ thanks for the info.. I think I may have seen that video you posted. I was thinking maybe by counting the teeth on output or now that I have 2 lol.. take the OE Tcase apart to match that output up.. I appreciate your time 👍🏽
Lol tried to watch I got INTERRUTED...by Henry our Machine Shop CNC LATHE OPERATOR...said his father in law in Vietnam is going to pass away..and asked me for some money.
Which made me Mad.

Lol...I called him during Smitty's instructional video and told Henry some OF MY Behavoir patterns...which wasn't good..lol..
So am back now ..learning once again from Smitty.
Family business they are not easy as one would think Employees can cause many issues and I know Smitty knows the very same.
Am 100% thankfull for Smitty I've learned allot from Smitty and he knows it...AND.. I don't earn one Penny I loose money in fact.

so what ball for the fork does it take on np246 ????
