  • How To Operate Main Burner For Kiln Cement From The Begining_ English Version.
Kiln Main Burner is a combustion process equipment, which is very important in the cement production process. Because good or bad clinker production quality is determined here, and the clinker quality will affect the overall cement quality.
Before starting up the kiln operation, it must be preheated for 24 to 36 hours, depending on how long the kiln stops to replace the refractory bricks.
The process of burning fuel in the Main Burner greatly determines the quality and capacity of the clinker produced, so operating this Main Burner requires special knowledge and skills or has good experience in the field.
The temperature required for the combustion process in the Kiln is around 1600oC, and the heat used to react raw meal into clinker is radiant heat from the fuel combustion process in the Main Burner.
This video is an education in the clinker production process in the cement industry.

I understand from your lecture there are two air sources in burner, the pilot air and blasting air,Me question is ,is it the total of the two air blower or air compressor maybe is the 11Nm3 per kg oil is you sir stating?

Thank you for your question sir.
What we explained about the use of 11 Nm3/kg of fuel oil is for total combustion air.
Air from the compressor or from the blower through the two burner channels is in the range of 8 to 12% of the total combustion air, so it ranges from 0.88 to 1.32 Nm3/kg oil.
While the rest is from secondary air which comes from the clinker cooling air fan.

Why the flame is not reaching the limestone,?heat drop is high if fire 🔥 not able to reach the stone.

In the combustion process for cement production, the feed material is not only limestone, but a mixture of limestone, silica, clay and iron sand.
The burner flame is not allowed to touch the material continuously, because it can affect the quality of the clinker and the coal fuel cannot burn completely. This can be seen in the CO and O2 gas analyzer at the Kiln inlet, high CO and low O2.

May I ask why burner is not fueled by diesel continously since heating value of diesel is higher than coal?

Because it is way more expensive than coal. Firstly you use fuel to achieve the coal combustion temperature in the secondary air and then you start replacing the diesel with coal.
