I don't agree with a lot of what Disney is doing nowadays. However, this makes sense. You don't need to be wondering if the person you're interacting with is a fully vetted official Disney cast member or some weirdo who's just there to get close to kids or to get attention. It's a bad idea to allow guests to wear costumes.
I think the no-costume rule is more for security purposes. You don't want to have someone looking like one of the employees and gain access to employee-only areas.
Think about it. If a kid gets lost, they're gonna go to their favorite character thinking they work for the park. Imagine if it's some dude dressed as Luke. That's dangerous.
That's been a policy for a long time. And it's one of many reasons why I'm SOOOOOOO glad their arrogance and stubborn behavior cost them the Harry Potter franchise. Yes, they were in talks with JK Rowling to build Wizarding World of Harry Potter before Universal. Things got so bad, Rowling left the meeting and ran to Universal. They basically gave her a blank piece of paper and said "Do whatever you like. We'll take care of the rest." I bet Disney has been regretting it ever since. If they HAD succeeded, can you imagine buying your house color robes and being told "No, you cannot go in there dressed like that." I'm glad they effed up big time.
As an ex security consultant I totally agree with Disney doing this, the risk is too high for many reasons to allow it, however I do not like it even if I agree with it.
@@RangerHouston I think that will be a thing to be honest, hypothetically though imagine a child gets taken and the only description is "some guy in a star wars costume" Disney would have a PR nightmare on their hands and it would affect their bottom line, this is pure hyperbole but its one of the things I know they would have considered.

So I guess one could go as one of the Legend Star Wars Characters, like Mara Jade, Guri, Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, Platt Okeefe, Kyle Katarn, and so on, and most of the characters from the Novels and Comics that's from before Disney, as long as they aren't any of the movie characters, I just speculating as Disney did say al marked Legend isn't really Star Wars, or something like that.
She really is human ahsoka isn't she, sounds like her, looks like her(even in cheep cosplay), honestly think she looks more like her than any of the popular fancasts
Karl Dahlquist Disney: Money > Fans, Universal Studios: Fans > Money. And I’m not exaggerating at all. Me and my family went to drive to Disneyland just to take a walk to their malls that they have. We went to enter into a parking lot, and before we paid to enter, we checked their price for the parking time, it cost 14 DOLLARS PER HOUR!!!!! 14!!!! And of course all of us got pissed off. So we decided to drive to Universal Studios City Walk, and it only cost 10 dollars for the whole day to park! We went there, it was a lot of fun. From gift shops, to eating their special restaurants burgers. This tells me just how cocky Disney is slowly becoming with their moneys.
And I thought EA was expensive, but disney is even worse. At least with EA you can sort of play the game without paying much. With disney you have to pay money just to enter their shopping malls. And the. You pay them AGAIN to actually buy something
@@OnlyTimefps9 agree but when it comes to attractions, rides and shows/fireworks, Disney is much better. I just can't handle a bunch of screen rides back to back to back. Both of them are expensive by just a small gap.
As far as I'm aware, Dash Rendar is an ole EU character, and does not exist in the new Disney canon. In that case, your costume would probably be seen as "someone from some other universe that's Disney's". Maybe you should E-mail their customer service to make sure it's alright, but I don't think they'll prohibit costumes of characters they don't own...
They said that legacy characters won't be there so you can be the heron of your own story. How the hell are you supposed to do that if you can't come in costume?
I think around October 31st are "Cosplay ok" anywhere? 😎 I don't go to Disneyland celebrating Holloween! Again! With all the shootings probably no weapons or heavy check in costume baggage where crowds gather!
There are also safety concerns. If a guest looks like an employee Disney would be liable if something happens because parents assumed the person was safe and something happened. Additionally the guest would be able to access areas they shouldn’t.
All my much older brothers & sisters went to Disney Land. My parents always promised to take us but took us to Canada's Wonderland instead. At 1st I was a little disappointed but by my late teens I was more than grateful. Two places you'll never find me, Disney Land & Las Vegas. Still not sure which one is worse.
...because almost everyone will dress in OT garb. And we can’t have THAT! Funny... anyone can come to Universal dressed up as any Harry Potter character and roam the HP world all day long. In fact, busloads of people come in wearing some pretty damn good costumes. So, dear commenters, tell me more about.... safety again. I didn’t quite catch that.
It isn’t just safety. It is to keep the magic alive. It is going to ruin the magic having like 50 Han Solo running around the park. Same reason they won’t have characters being 2 places at once. It ruins the magic.
The magic is totally kept alive by Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Chewy, and a squad of stormtroopers all twerking to an Ariana Grande song. They actually do this. *smh*
G Craig, no ideas if that true or not. I know it is one of the reason they don’t let you dress up at the parks. They are big on keeping the magic alive. The cast members aren’t even aloud to say they played a character. They have to say they were friends with like Ariel or whoever
tristin wright: I get what you’re saying. There’s probably all kinds of reasons, but for sure they don’t want any OT stuff in there. Which sucks. And I’ve been there, I’ve seen the twerking. I almost threw up at how out of place and ridiculous it was. Lol. Have a good one 🙂👍🏻
7:27 I understand it more from the point of view of security needs. Nowadays theme parks can become easy targets. Probably security managers are afraid of what people may hide under their costumes.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! Nolan, you sir, just winz the internets for today!!! (but in all seriousness, there are two ways to play vader around kids. The first, being the authoritarian tyrant seeking out rebel scum, and playing on the kids reactions to further the dialogue. The second is the dark side mentor, seeking an apprentice within a group of kids, and encouraging them to tap into the potential within each of them. It's all dependent on how they react. If they act hostile..(holding up toy lightsabers defensively, yelling, or the ever popular clutching of parents legs in abject fear)..play the tyrant, and get "defeated" by the smallest kid there to hilarious effect....or play the "role model" to the little fans who love vader, and encourage them to be better than they already are (follow the rules, eat your vegetables, try your hardest, conquer your fears, ect. ect.) and give them the "join me, and together we will rule the galaxy" spiel. They just eat it up, and in that moment, you cease to be just another guy in a costume, and become the embodiment of their hopes or fears.
I don't agree with it but it makes sense from a security standpoint, they want to be able to tell patron, from staff. Having gone to more then one renascence fair in costume I spent the day being mistaken for a staff member.
Anna you've quickly become one of my favorite Star Wars commentators. I was stunned by the rules they are imposing at Disney! What if a fan wants to wear a nice costume that shows their Blessings! :)

I think it makes perfect sense. Doesn't take much imagination to think of a lot of situations that could arise from mistaking random individuals as paid employees.
They do that because they have their own cast members on stage and it would take away from their role. And on the other hand robes are quite the safety hazard
I get it, as long as they allow period costumes so that you can feel like an obscure character in the SW universe. It's a bit harder to immerse yourself in the world if you're wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans.
>Can't say 'younglings' at Galaxy's Edge >No original trilogy characters like Luke at Galaxy's Edge >Can't wear costumes at Galaxy's Edge It's almost as though Disney WANTS to lose money. 😂

You aren’t gonna be in any trouble if you say younglings. > In this area of the galaxy in the Star Wars universe really no one knows of Luke or most of the OT characters so really it wouldn’t make any sense. > Mainly for liability and security reasons. You can Disney bound. Just no full costumes
That’s so freegan stupid , even at the renaissance festival here in Texas there is usually a small contingent of storm troopers walking about which I find they fit right in I always wish they would question pirates at the pirate bar of the known whereabouts of Luke skywalker showing them a hand drawn resemblance “go back to your drinks empire business “ as they soldier off
I mean, this isn't really a surprise, your not allowed to dress up at theme parks because you may get confused with a staff member and that would get all sorts of complicated but still its not really in line with what the spirit of star wars USED TO be
Yeah, god forbid an actual fan walks into Galaxy's Edge. After all the hard work Disney did destroying the lore of the original trilogy, the last thing they want is people bringing back memories of a better product.
They won’t allow costumes because they know fans’ costumes will be firmly in the prequel and original trilogies and this park is a commercial for their sequel trilogy.
More than altruistically, they don’t want the old Star Wars characters around mixing with the new characters. For example little one old storm troopers messing around with the first order storm trooper’s. It messes up all the past they’ve already killed

They probably didn't say anything about her slave girl costume because they couldn't stop staring. Ahahahaha!
Gonna be fair, this choice makes sense. Most theme parks don't allow costumes for safety purposes, and so guests don't get mixed up for staff.
I don't agree with a lot of what Disney is doing nowadays. However, this makes sense. You don't need to be wondering if the person you're interacting with is a fully vetted official Disney cast member or some weirdo who's just there to get close to kids or to get attention. It's a bad idea to allow guests to wear costumes.
always with the extremes
@Justin B by that logic cars should be banned due to the myriad of accidents. Can't save everybody. That's why you have park security..
@@davidd4696 Not everything is apples to apples. It's just a lot easier to stop it before it happens. Security can focus on other things.
@WillFanofMany always with the extremes, should ban everything going by the thinking
It'd be nice if they had special events in the area for cosplayers.
But idk. Disney's pretty stern.
@@billdoor1569 yeah, but don't they have wristbands or something? Just have the family write their last name on it in a permenant marker or something. Not that it matters to me, as I really don't care at all abouy giving disney my money.
*WTF*
*Is Disney going to mistake the customers for their employees? Then again I wouldn't put it past them, the employees in Disney Land are already jaded and empty from the wrath of Mickey's whip*
Mickey: Get back to work, princess Laya (haha) and make them smile cause this is a happy place (haha)!
*cracks a whip on Finn*
Mickey: Hey you, no lunch break for you if you're going to be lazy (haha) now get back to work and make em smile (haha). Now where's Yoda?
Yoda: Hide from this mad mouse, I must. A force worse than Darth Vader, he is
I think it's called "urban cosplay". The way around the "no cosplay" rule you're trying to get around.
0:05 "Padawan" sounded exactly like Ahsoka
She really is human ahsoka isn't she, sounds like her, looks like her(even in cheep cosplay), honestly think she looks more like her than any of the popular fancasts
They actually do allow them just not ones that are exactly like the employees
Emo-ren's weapon literally looks like its unstable
I understand why, it would confuse both the people working in the park and the people walking around
I notice Universal Studios ran an ad in front of your video. LOL. $149 for 175 days of fun. Disneyland is 1 day for $149 or 1 day parkhopper for $199
Karl Dahlquist Disney: Money > Fans, Universal Studios: Fans > Money.
RC-1138 exactly!
@@OnlyTimefps9 agree but when it comes to attractions, rides and shows/fireworks, Disney is much better. I just can't handle a bunch of screen rides back to back to back. Both of them are expensive by just a small gap.
Actually the crossguard is a great design choice because when I spar with a longsword, my wrist never touches the part where the plasma blade would be
You mean I won't be able to walk into the cantina dressed as Dash Rendar? Oh well, I ain't paying $50 for a cocktail.
This one I can see. I don't like Disney star wars by any means.
Although I would like for them to have cosplay events.
I think around October 31st are "Cosplay ok" anywhere? 😎 I don't go to Disneyland celebrating Holloween! Again! With all the shootings probably no weapons or heavy check in costume baggage where crowds gather!
They also don't allow you to wear masked costumes on holloween
If Disney owned Batman or Superman:
No capes please.
Gotta listen to Edna!
XD
There are also safety concerns. If a guest looks like an employee Disney would be liable if something happens because parents assumed the person was safe and something happened. Additionally the guest would be able to access areas they shouldn’t.
Did y’all hear they Outlawed the word “Younglings” at the Star Wars Galaxies edge?
Edit: I kinda like Kylos lightsaber design.
Edit: it’s not true
That's not true
That isnt true
All my much older brothers & sisters went to Disney Land. My parents always promised to take us but took us to Canada's Wonderland instead. At 1st I was a little disappointed but by my late teens I was more than grateful. Two places you'll never find me, Disney Land & Las Vegas. Still not sure which one is worse.
I get it... but it is a bit of a shame as it would increase immersion. 🤷🏻♂️
Exactly!
Just a note the 501st can go in costume as we can register to work for the day
...because almost everyone will dress in OT garb.
That and Legends characters, because we have to ignore some of them too. At least I can dress up as Darth Revan at a convention in peace.
I agree, it is hard to cosplay as Darth Vader... I never know how I should react around younglings.
I dressed like a storm trooper and lots of people started asking me for pictures in Disneyland
Random Kid: I want to be a SW fan like my Father before me.
Disney in any shape or form: No.
She's cosplayed as Aladdin, and Aladdin doesn't wear a shirt, which means...😍
I genuinely laughed out loud to your comment as I instantly imagined too 😁😈😎
@@theoc511 Glad to brighten your day. 😆
Next up....no dressing up for Halloween! Unfortunately this is just a sign of the times. Sad
They've had this policy for decades
I don't agree with it but it makes sense from a security standpoint, they want to be able to tell patron, from staff. Having gone to more then one renascence fair in costume I spent the day being mistaken for a staff member.
*Anna broke 100K SUBSCRIBERS!!!* 💪😀 CONGRATULATIONS ANNA! 👍😊
Yo be fair Disney have always banned costumes for adult visitors, not just for SW but for every film they have.
Younglings! Younglings! Younglings! Younglings! Younglings! Younglings! Younglings!
(I had to do it)
Anna you've quickly become one of my favorite Star Wars commentators. I was stunned by the rules they are imposing at Disney! What if a fan wants to wear a nice costume that shows their Blessings! :)
Disney will be blocking Star Wars fans next 😂
I worked in a park and they was like that also because you will not be able to tell the workers from the customers thats why
damn Anna you would make a guy renounce sith and join the jedi in a second. gorgeous.
your really wanting to see that Slave Leia costume me too
why are there so many creeps here
@@hutchison82 i thought about that when Anna mentioned it, but dont really need to. u can google countless other slave leia cosplayers. id prefer to see Anna as a sith apprentice next. i really love how her awesome hair totally sold that padawan vibe so seeing the sith counterpart would be great.
@@schnebot i was only joking
It's cause they don't want people impersonating cast members...and cast members getting confused....
I think it makes perfect sense. Doesn't take much imagination to think of a lot of situations that could arise from mistaking random individuals as paid employees.
They do that because they have their own cast members on stage and it would take away from their role. And on the other hand robes are quite the safety hazard
Can't we just have a sign hanging around our neck...."we don't work here"😁
I get it, as long as they allow period costumes so that you can feel like an obscure character in the SW universe. It's a bit harder to immerse yourself in the world if you're wearing a t-shirt and blue jeans.
>Can't say 'younglings' at Galaxy's Edge
>No original trilogy characters like Luke at Galaxy's Edge
>Can't wear costumes at Galaxy's Edge
It's almost as though Disney WANTS to lose money. 😂
Rishi
> The no youngling rule pretty much just applies for cast members.
They don’t want people getting confused especially the kids with who works at the theme park versus your random didlers
They banned younglings from the dictionary
Koffee Bar confirmed false by Disney themselves.
@@Cloudy_Games_99 oh, good, thanks for telling me
That’s so freegan stupid , even at the renaissance festival here in Texas there is usually a small contingent of storm troopers walking about which I find they fit right in I always wish they would question pirates at the pirate bar of the known whereabouts of Luke skywalker showing them a hand drawn resemblance “go back to your drinks empire business “ as they soldier off
I mean, this isn't really a surprise, your not allowed to dress up at theme parks because you may get confused with a staff member and that would get all sorts of complicated but still its not really in line with what the spirit of star wars USED TO be
OMG Anna worked for Disney? She's been behind enemy lines, that's soo cool!
Yeah, god forbid an actual fan walks into Galaxy's Edge.
After all the hard work Disney did destroying the lore of the original trilogy, the last thing they want is people bringing back memories of a better product.
Amen, NumericoDigit !
They won’t allow costumes because they know fans’ costumes will be firmly in the prequel and original trilogies and this park is a commercial for their sequel trilogy.
I’ll go cosplay as Captain Kirk from Star Trek just to piss them off.
Do it. Don't forget to carry a classic phaser and communicator as well.
Actually the crossguard lightsaber is really practical because of close quarters combat as pronging the enemy and killing them
You should casted in the next Star Wars movie.. Just imagine yourself swinging a lightsaber and talk during it without stopping.. :D
I can't imagine going to Warwick Castle here in England and not seeing staff there dressed in Mediaeval costumes.
*Heavy breathing intensifies*
Only Anna could pull off a legit Jedi outfit out of a kids Halloween costume. 👍
I mean fine? Better that cosplayers go to non-Disney sponsored events or hell even do charity work than support Disney in ANY way.
More than altruistically, they don’t want the old Star Wars characters around mixing with the new characters. For example little one old storm troopers messing around with the first order storm trooper’s. It messes up all the past they’ve already killed
Anna is the internet's best girl
