The "Birth of a Nation" sequence made me sick to my stomach and made me want to leave the theater. I've never felt so emotionally disturbed by a movie in a while, this movie is amazing

It had hints of that every now and then but it would often let go and make the KKK cartoonish. The second half of the film was just pure wish fulfillment.

The operation was incredibly successful with the klan having no idea that they were infiltrated, they actually nearly tried to make Stalworth Davis Duke’s replacement. Same reason why the operation was shut down, too successful for its own good.

I appreciate you pointing out how well Spike Lee and the writers balanced out the dark and the light...er...no pun intended. That's what I was so impressed with - it could've really gone off center, and it never did.
I live in Colorado Springs and saw this on opening night at out local indi theater! I LOVED it, and the gorgeous shots of the city don’t do it justice. It was very emotional watching this in a theater full of people. I loved it, and I’m also a big Adam Driver fan so I’m happy with it.
I loved this movie as well but I just gotta add that Adam Driver can do no wrong. Hands down one of if not the best actor working today. I mean look at what he’s done with Kylo Ren. His performance in TLJ was probably the best in all of Star Wars

I feel like this movie is only advertised to me so much is because it has a Finnish actor. Twitter, news sites are all "look how far one of our boys has gotten" and it's weird. Wanting to watch this movie has nothing to do with my childhood crush on that dude, the story is way more interesting. Hope I can get someone to go watch this one with me.
I was floored by this movie. The story was very good. I agree - it was very funny; a lot of it reminded me of the Coen Brothers. And yes, JDW did sound like Denzel a lot haha. The editing in the first speech scene was phenomenal. The score was really good. I loved this movie. Could’ve done without the romance, that would have helped the runtime you referred to. 9/10 (I originally thought that was Steve Bushemi 😂😂 had no idea it was his brother)
I liked the romance aspect because I think it added another layer to the film. His girlfriend doesn’t like police and generalizes them by calling them all “pigs”, much like a white supremacist would generalize all black people. But Ron proves that not all police are bad because he himself is one. I thought that conflict was very interesting and showed how generalizations can be made by both sides and it doesn’t help anyone.

This film is so powerful, and in times like revolution more people should watch/rewatch it. It shows that not all cops are fucking idiots and is STILL extremely relevant topic. I just watched the movie, and nearly cried. Please, Please watch this movie yourselves, you will not regret it...

We are getting a lot of great movies filled with diversity lately. Blindspotting, BlacKkKlansman, Crazy Rich Asians, and Sorry to Bother You. I’m pretty sure I’ve missed to list some films, but whatever Hollywood is doing in making these films, I hope they’ll take what they learned from these films and continue to take risks in developing more diverse films in the future.
Very important movie with such a strong message but i can't see why you would give this an A. I personally didn't like the pacing at all and i thought that the story did have some issues. Throughout the film neither the KKK nor the Black Power Movement actually commit any crime (up until the very end) except for being racist among each other. Thus it misses out on the chance of creating much more inner conflict within the two protagonists. Why did the members of the KKK even consider Adam Driver as a leader of their Colorado Springs organisation while all he did was shoot at the fleeing ron and some dummies at the shooting range (and of course being racist 24/7)? He had, at that point in the movie, never even participated at a cross-burning and was just new to the group. David Duke's character was rather uninteresting and some of his followers such as Ivanhoe and Ashlie Atkinson as Connie Kendrickson were straight up annoying. Plus the arrest of the drunken Landers (racist cop @ the traffic stop) was sooooo cheesy it left me cringing in my movie seat. Oh and i really disliked the soundtrack, but thats just personal preference i guess... Nevertheless this movie does a lot of things right and i agree with basically everything you're saying in your review. Just wanted to get this out there :')
Saw it today, literally a flawless film for me; and I did get teared up a little at the end. The relevance between Trump's words and his praise from David Duke is scary as fuck
Saw the movie was actually disapointed, it had a ton of pacing issues especially towards the 2nd to 3rd act, the characters were pretty 1 dimensional, and the ending was really anticlimactic

Why did the members of the KKK even consider Adam Driver as a leader of their Colorado Springs organisation while all he did was shoot at the fleeing ron and some dummies at the shooting range (and of course being racist 24/7)? He had, at that point in the movie, never even participated at a cross-burning and was just new to the group.
David Duke's character was rather uninteresting and some of his followers such as Ivanhoe and Ashlie Atkinson as Connie Kendrickson were straight up annoying. Plus the arrest of the drunken Landers (racist cop @ the traffic stop) was sooooo cheesy it left me cringing in my movie seat. Oh and i really disliked the soundtrack, but thats just personal preference i guess...
Nevertheless this movie does a lot of things right and i agree with basically everything you're saying in your review. Just wanted to get this out there :')

Saw it today, literally a flawless film for me; and I did get teared up a little at the end. The relevance between Trump's words and his praise from David Duke is scary as fuck

Saw the movie was actually disapointed, it had a ton of pacing issues especially towards the 2nd to 3rd act, the characters were pretty 1 dimensional, and the ending was really anticlimactic

i gave it an A- like you said it was a bit too long and the pacing was weak at times. Other than that i loved it.
What shocked me is given Spike Lees beliefs, the movie was balanced of the good (for lack of a better word) and bad of both sides
