Yes. He comes across as a modest and thoughtful person. He doesn't seem to feel the need to trumpet his views. I guess he says most of what he has to say in his art.
I was fortunate to see this in my home town of Charleston, West Virginia last weekend. It was a packed theater, people of all ages and races, and we were all laughing, CLAPPING, and finally we sat in a stunned silence. It was an amazing community experience in the theater and I have to say that BlacKkKlansman is Spike Lee's masterpiece. GO SEE IT!
Navy Bae Spike Lee has a way with film... I remember as a child going to see Jungle Fever and at the end everyone sat in silence just digesting what they had seen. When he wants to make an impact with a film, he does it and does it well.
Starress McBride Yes. He always says what he really thinks when it’s the first time or when it’s spontaneous. You can tell when the words are someone else’s, because his own words either don’t make sense, or are hateful, or both.
Spike Lee has always been a voice and spoke the truth to the Black community whether we wanted to hear it or not. Thank you for your continued service to your people.
Darlene, satanists do NOT know the 'truth' to speak any truth. Look at the effects that the American Black race has gone through since the 60's until now. You can thank satan and his followers for this horrific transformation. And it's the freemasons and boule members that have implemented this satanic plan by way of movies, tel LIE vision, music, etc... So then, keep your head buried in the sand and continue to be deceived by these GOD haters. Just know, their day (and yours?), is Coming!
thisishowwedoit1 So, what did you think of the movie BlackKlansman and how did Spike Lee use this movie to use his influence of satanic propaganda to further harm Black people?
Darlene, really??? First and foremost, Spike is a race divider (among other things)! This movie (like 'all' of his movies), are stoking the flames of hatred. Simply put, Spike deflects the attention (as do 'all' of the prince hall masons and boule members), from black on black crime to the white supremacy (man), fault. This is done intentionally as to 'ignore' the cause of the satanic movies and music that influences the people. That's why the elite pay the 'so called' stars/entertainers large sums of money, because they use them to brainwash the gullible masses. But it's much deeper than that. Truly, it's satanists who are witches and warlocks that's casting spells (black magic), on the masses causing the people to continually be in a stupor/deep sleep... It's a reason 'so called' stars are third degree (or higher), in the satanic 'dark secrets'! So by 'not' pointing out the real enemies of the people (satanism/luciferian beliefs), Spike is further 'harming' Black people.
Samuel Fuller did it first: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_Corridor I don't know if Chappelle was aware of that movie when he wrote the sketch, but it's good to know about the works of Sam Fuller.
I saw this movie yesterday in Auckland, New Zealand at a 3.15pm session at my local single theatre cinema. Mostly older white people, but a surprising amount of them. The acting from the main players was phenomenal, it was funny as hell, the soundtrack gets into your bones and the last bit broke my heart. Absolute silence by then. Good luck America but thanks for something good.
If you watch many of his interviews he states that this is not just an American thing, it's a worldwide issue. So that would include New Zealand. And I have heard of the issues there with the natives being neglected. So before anyone can fix anyone else's problems, they have to fix their own.
I saw the film in Chapel Hill North Carolina, place where a drama over racial statues has been going on for many months. I was one of maybe eight people in a small art theater seeing blackkKlansman and after it was over it was very very quiet. There were no black people in the audience. Everyone left and I lean my head forward on the seat in front of me with tears streaming down my face. It is not as if the movie told me anything I did not know in a general sense, it was rather that Spike Lee so intelligently drew a straight line between the horrors of yesteryear that so many lost kaisers and white supremacists feel so nostalgic about to the horrors of today. There is a sense of despair about the trajectory of the human race and a certain possibility of achieving real, meaningful change.

Or they were just jealous, could be that too. In high-school fat girls called skinny girls sacks of bone...or walking bones or just boney.
I love this interview for so many reasons, but one of them is that Trevor Noah is a more effective interviewer than a lot of seasoned journalists I know. He's letting the guest speak instead of interrupting and filling the quiet moments with the sound of his own voice just for the sake of talking. Much more effective than talking over or through your guest.
Genetics. All my life I've been told I look 20 years younger than I am and you can't "fake" that. But there comes a time when even genes don't mask old age. That said, those of you in your twenties will probably benefit from imedical science so that even "old" age will be a thing of the past.
key: We would call it a wrap but you might think we were calling it a rap and call it cultural appropriation. But seriously, darker skinned people probably do age better, just because of more tolerance to the sun.
Hostis Humani Generis You would have a point if people of color and whites came to America only but their are many who migrate to many other countries, not just shithole America.
@Hostis Humani Generis we are oppressed you can't see it cuz you refuse to, that's a personal problem. And black people from other countries come here because America walks around posted but this is the home of the free. What in fact you just proved it yourself it's a lie you hate us but we don't control your destiny little control how much money you get paid hourly , that power belongs to the big corporations and bankers that truly run this country. And they so happened to be white. So take your hateful thought processes and focus them on the people that run these businesses and quit fighting your fellow cellmates, good as long as you sit here and literally pick out a group of people with your negative talking points, this country will never truly be free we're fighting for freedom for all people not just ours idiot fighting for your rights too.

This film will win Best Motion Picture 2018. Spike Lee will win Best Director 2018. And there will be more Oscars for this movie. It's an American classic.
I saw the film today. It was great. The story was wild. It was dark (ha!) humor but it was an eye-opener and I lived as a young woman in the South in the 1970s. Go see it, have your kids go see it.
Samuel Fuller did it first: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_Corridor That's not to say that Chappelle's take on it wasn't brilliant, I'm just bringing your attentions to a bit of cinema history.
This speaks volumes about what's going on with the protests in America and the stories that are unfolding about officers abusing their power and getting away with it because the other officers are helping them.
Are you talking from a black nationalist perspective, meaning "we" as in the black people and not everybody? cause Do The Right Thing clearly wasn't about interracial unity.
As I watched this video, I can recall living in Germany and getting a grasp of what Public Enemy was talkin' about through the album "Fear of a Black Planet". Incredible!
The footage at the end of the film had me so shook... almost terrified. Its alarming that extremist living on this planet really believe they are superior and will do anything to dehumanize an entire group of individuals.
I love this movie it was awesome and so powerful. It made me laugh angry and then at the end made me cry. And i too was the only black person in the movie theater. I love how he combine the past and present together now we have to fight for a better future for the next generation.
I was one of 3 white people in the theater. The couple next to me seemed shocked that I hissed at Birth of a Nation and What's-his-name in the White House, and cheered when the car crashed. One of the best films I've ever seen!
@@juliawindsor2569I holla hell yea during that scene so awesome. I was the only one it seems was having a reaction to the movie. I don't think I ever went to see a movie and it was soooo quiet almost scary in a way. But did u say what's-his-name lol I don't acknowledge him it.
The first time I saw it definitely wasn't quiet! Well, except at the end, but even then there were sniffles and groans. We don't mention that person's name in this house. Names have power and I refuse to give him any!
All this context causes the opposite of the aim, the problem is ...that he doesn't give a fuck bout the hood. Lee is a snitch, period. Lee promotes conflicts + plus he is miseducated. Both sides are sick for Asylum.
If the white supremacist are now exposing themselves. Don't you think It's good to know the enemy and their location Vs them coming out in a sniper mode. And for my brothers and sisters that been victims of ws you will not be forgotten, but have everlasting life in our books and history.
Personally, I think so. Like you said, the enemy you see is better than the one in the bushes. Plus, tons of those folks at the Unite The Right rally last year in Charlottesville lost their jobs, via people identifying them on social media. It wasn't the justice they deserved, but it was some. It stopped people from coming to the one in Washington DC this year. At least there's some consequences for being so hateful, and it shows the at-right that they're not as big and powerful as they thought. Lots of racist internet warriors - lots of chicken shits in person. At the same time, they are emboldened, which means some are going to try and/or kill people of color. I guarantee it's happening in smaller areas, places we don't hear about, places where it's easier to cover up. And, they vote. Racist candidates are coming out of the woodwork all over, because they think they have a shot now. Spike is deadly serious about how important these upcoming elections are. The Voting Rights Act is already under seige. The Civil Rights Act won't be far behind.
melipooh1986 🥀 Well there's this old saying that: When you LOVE WHAT YOU DO....❗Basically, Spike Lee is an ARTIST in love with his trade. To someone like him, it's not "work" in the traditional sense. Cinema is his Passion❗ So, it's like an "Anti-aging" mentality. Another great example of this would be: Madonna. 😎 (S.F)
@@BothHands1 Imagine if someone said the same thing about white people, it's insuating that black people are more beautiful, yet the liberal-leftist media try their best to claim it's racism to think a racial group looks better than another group, at least if that group is white, here's an example: th-cam.com/video/reuxx06KgMw/w-d-xo.html So I can only assume you disagree with the woman in this clip, that you think the people have the right to hold their own beauty standards, considering your statement.
I love how Spike uses humor to bring home the point -- laugh all you want... as long as you listen to the anger and the sorrow and the injustice and go DO something about it.
I'm living in South Korea. We get big blockbuster movies, like Marvel films. A Korean audience doesn't know the details of America's racist history, and there aren't many black people living here (and most are from African nations), so this film wouldn't appeal to many people here.
I just watched this film in Paris. Everyone was so shocked that the whole room started clapping when it finished, as if this gesture was the only way to deal with the disgusting feeling everyone had after watching the scene in Charlottesville. Never seen that before after a movie. Agent orange is going down !
Love that man, fighting for my rights, telling our stories even though it’s painful as all hell to think about. It’s terrifying to think how little progress we’ve made it’s scary to think about how black people areant being lynched but just shot instead. But it’s our reality and Spike Lee is trying his hardest to get that reality out there for everyone to understand. I think history will look fondly on him and his efforts towards race relations

Until after the elections or right just right before.don't blame black people for the reason why things like this happen when this ship's been happening over a hundred fifty years even when we had finally got our rights to vote still dumb s*** was happening either between lynching or blockage or stupid tests that allow people that black people have the face back then now it's just a little bit different.because sometimes cuz time change yes only thing changes the year but people are still putting up with the same b******* that they grandfathers and great-grandfathers has been putting in place and you are the product of what your parents raised you who was raised by your grandparents and their grandparents and they was raised with hey guess what I should still lingers around.it's like why I tell my daughter and my son I'm not worried how I am raising you two, I am more worried about other people are raising their children.
Hold up spike lee is 61 years old???? Gah dam black really don’t crack
61 isn't old, my mom is 62 and looks younger than him.
now I understand why they called them boy ... I always thought that was a confusing choice....maybe they didn't have good glasses back then so when the bossman said boy forgetting the slaves age everybody else who couldn't afford gases was like yeah, looks like a boy. Or they were just jealous, could be that too. In high-school fat girls called skinny girls sacks of bone...or walking bones or just boney.
Apart from higher levels of death caused by hyptertension and type 2 diabetes! Finest looking corpses in the morque!
he is becoming the worst case scenario ... Lee lost it, period
If he shaved his white beard could definitely be 30.
Spike's masterpiece. Truly. Amazing interview, too. Powerful, timely, life changing.
Mookie's 62 dang he could pass for 42 for reals.
keyboyrecords that’s not very nice 👎🏾
Genetics. All my life I've been told I look 20 years younger than I am and you can't "fake" that. But there comes a time when even genes don't mask old age. That said, those of you in your twenties will probably benefit from imedical science so that even "old" age will be a thing of the past.
keyboyrecords Please don't start a war here.
AresGaming yeah I know about the skin thing, I was referring to the C word.
key: We would call it a wrap but you might think we were calling it a rap and call it cultural appropriation.
But seriously, darker skinned people probably do age better, just because of more tolerance to the sun.
Spike is hated by fox cuz he speaks true.
Hostis Humani Generis He does 💡
Hostis Humani Generis You would have a point if people of color and whites came to America only but their are many who migrate to many other countries, not just shithole America.
Alexander Smith You are not oppressed, you are only privileged, try to name a way you're oppressed
Hostis Humani Generis Just because it's worse there doesn't mean it's good here. It's all bad.
Damn. Not often an interview makes me cry.
Who fucking cares Wtf
Chris Rogers soft bitch
Iman Rich The Swag Lord you do obviously!!!!!
keyboyrecords for crying? Wow, what an absolute jackass
Iman Rich The Swag Lord
Your name reflects your IQ. “Rich Swag Lord”? I bet you don’t even have $500 to your name.
thank u this was an awesome interview - can't wait to see the movie!
KR
It was slowat times... But VERY GOOD
Man! I watched it and Im speechless. My God! Bless Spike Lee.
I laughed at funny bits throughout the movie, but at the end, I was openly sobbing. :( It truly is a beautiful film, and the music is phenomenal.
Will they ever give my man, Spike Lee an Oscar?!!!!
Last Lime Really Dude? How is Spike Lee a racist? Have you watch any of his movies? Malcom X definitely should have won a oscar. And all his other films are classic not racist, and trust me there a list of racist Oscar winner longer than my damn arm, so you can take that bs somewhere else.
Last Lime 😧😧😧 Ok now I see. You're a simpleton who can't understand the reason or meaning behind the flick so you just say its racist. Hey, I'm praying for you man.
Markese Christian They gave him an honorary but to me that is a consolation prize.
Hell no but he should have had one by now.
This film will win Best Motion Picture 2018. Spike Lee will win Best Director 2018. And there will be more Oscars for this movie. It's an American classic.
I've got to watch the movie.
Yep-- I'm going this weekend.
Same
It’s fo’real fo’real.
Go Awaaay Definitely worth seeing. I took my Mom and we were floored! A must see!!!
Same ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
The movie is among my favorite movies of all time. Spike Lee is among the greatest of all time when it comes to film making.
Thanks Spike! Keep kickin ass!
Yeah, that ending - made me cry! And others in the theatre too. Powerful stuff. And a film that has been waiting to be made for so long.
Spike Lee is an intellectual and a true visionary. Can't wait to watch it!
Eh....well....he makes entertaining films. But not this one.
"david duke was bamboozled by him" Only a few will get that lol.
Yup. I caught that too.
spike lee movie bamboozled. A satire of race pitfalls and prejudices.
BIG Y STAR ?* It was also a word used by Denzel Washington playing Malcolm X in Spike Lee's Malcolm X
Great movie.
I did not get it and I am disappointed. But thank you for telling me so I can get it now. Nice.
I saw the film today. It was great. The story was wild. It was dark (ha!) humor but it was an eye-opener and I lived as a young woman in the South in the 1970s. Go see it, have your kids go see it.
Finally saw the movie, I must say it's an important film to watch and deserves more credit.
I love Spike Lee 💗
get married
He doesn't like you though, since you are white.
I did not want this interview to end. So good.
😂 okay who else thought about the Dave Chappelle skit
Nate Lee me
Samuel Fuller did it first: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_Corridor
That's not to say that Chappelle's take on it wasn't brilliant, I'm just bringing your attentions to a bit of cinema history.
Lol Clayton Bixby.
sdfkjgh thanks for the info tab
Could you please reference the show that you are talking about? Please... I am curious to see it
I think Spike Lee's message is made the more powerful by his insistent humanizing of those whom we would see as "bad people."
This speaks volumes about what's going on with the protests in America and the stories that are unfolding about officers abusing their power and getting away with it because the other officers are helping them.
That movie was so great & the ending is what made me actually cry & get real goosebumps its a must see.
Finally found someone else who calls him Agent Orange.
SkippyDW there's a lot of us that call him that! 😄😄😄
My fav., is Don the Con.
Outside of "Drumpf" (hey, it WAS their NAME!) I usually switch between "Sir-Tweets-A-Lot", "Dolt 45", and occasionally "Lord of the Yams".
I call him toupeed seagull. But Agent Orange resonates.
I call him the orange toilet brush.
Same thing happened when I watched it! No one got up. We were all in awe
Do the right thing...you gotta fight the power dat be...
Are you talking from a black nationalist perspective, meaning "we" as in the black people and not everybody? cause Do The Right Thing clearly wasn't about interracial unity.
jimijuu omastar 👍
As I watched this video, I can recall living in Germany and getting a grasp of what Public Enemy was talkin' about through the album "Fear of a Black Planet". Incredible!
The footage at the end of the film had me so shook... almost terrified. Its alarming that extremist living on this planet really believe they are superior and will do anything to dehumanize an entire group of individuals.
Brooklyn stand up🗣🗣Spike you've never failed to amaze me with your greatness. 💜💜 keep'em coming. we folks need you.
@@juliawindsor2569 Amen Julia!! the same in mine too..
All this context causes the opposite of the aim, the problem is ...that he doesn't give a fuck bout the hood. Lee is a snitch, period. Lee promotes conflicts + plus he is miseducated. Both sides are sick for Asylum.
It is happening globally. It’s heartbreaking.
If the white supremacist are now exposing themselves. Don't you think It's good to know the enemy and their location Vs them coming out in a sniper mode.
And for my brothers and sisters that been victims of ws you will not be forgotten, but have everlasting life in our books and history.
MackinShizzaveli #WeWasCavemen fake Russian youtube account. Russian bot detected.
This all makes my head hurt Do you by chance wear a tinfoil hat?
BurnThePope He's right though.
Who are these victims of white supremacy?, did you know that white people face way more hate crime?
I had that exact reaction. It left me breathless and determined to NEVER sit back and watch it happen again.
My overriding emotion these days is: I'm just waiting for all to be over. It's a bad dream you can't wake up from.
Loren Taylor DITTO!
You right!! A real nightmare.
It's not a dream, *vote.*
vote on sense not false crap,😗
It's not a dream , its a reality that you haven't been monitoring for the last x number of years of your life.
It was a deep movie . Uncomfortable, but true in the reflections of today's society. Not all people, but enough to make a divide .
Watched it on premier, definitely the best of the year!
Vote either way, but I am with you on wishing we do away with it. Then it will be imperative for every person to vote!
61 wtf wow he looks great !
Black don’t crack, as the saying goes
melipooh1986 🥀 Well there's this old saying that: When you LOVE WHAT YOU DO....❗Basically, Spike Lee is an ARTIST in love with his trade. To someone like him, it's not "work" in the traditional sense. Cinema is his Passion❗ So, it's like an "Anti-aging" mentality. Another great example of this would be: Madonna. 😎 (S.F)
@@BothHands1 Imagine if someone said the same thing about white people, it's insuating that black people are more beautiful, yet the liberal-leftist media try their best to claim it's racism to think a racial group looks better than another group, at least if that group is white, here's an example:
th-cam.com/video/reuxx06KgMw/w-d-xo.html
So I can only assume you disagree with the woman in this clip, that you think the people have the right to hold their own beauty standards, considering your statement.
The first words that comes out his mouth is the truth
I love how Spike uses humor to bring home the point -- laugh all you want... as long as you listen to the anger and the sorrow and the injustice and go DO something about it.
5:25
he is 61 it seems black people don't age
Yep .. Halley berry for example
boss Ambedkarite Black don't crack.
Built in sun screen, the thing that drives racist cray cray, a fucking color.
@Ho...Awwwwwww, someone/you needs some attention...LOL
Hostis Humani Generis You mad because you age like milk? Lmao
Who else love Mookie?
I'm sold on this film. Probably not gonna play in my country of residence, so I'll wait.
Michael 마익흘 Aronson damn where do you live
Ashleigh Calloway Based on his name, probably Korea
🤔🤨That's crazy
I'm living in South Korea. We get big blockbuster movies, like Marvel films. A Korean audience doesn't know the details of America's racist history, and there aren't many black people living here (and most are from African nations), so this film wouldn't appeal to many people here.
@@MichaelAronson Can you buy a copy when DVD comes out? Worse case I'd send you a copy.
I have so much respect for Spike ! From Boyz in the hood, everything he has made is exceptional.
EXACT same experience at the theater I went to. Complete silence and stillness in the theater after it ended.
I have mad respect for Spike Lee!
Humanity = serving/helping/caring for humanity is the spirit of humanity. I feel agent orange doesn't have the same message.
A Spike Lee Joint
Omg ✊💞💞💖 #YES!
One of the best films that I've seen in a long time
Blackkklansman is a great movie Spike Lee did an amazing job! The entire cast was fantastic.
This was so good at points it almost got a tear from me. Really good interview.
I loved the movie. Saw it this weekend. timeless.
Best movie I've seen all year.
I loved their laughs at Duke being fooled. So perfect ❤️😂
Honestly I watch this and my god the scene with Harry Belafonte was amazing and beautiful.
Wow - who is else is impressed to see such respectfulness in our society. Huge shout and love to you Spike Lee 💝
Looking forward to seeing this movie
Thanks #SpikeLee for all you do!
I've never even been to any west countries but that ending shook me.
One of the most incredible movies to see in a theater!!
This is a brilliant film. He's getting my vote.
I just watched this film in Paris. Everyone was so shocked that the whole room started clapping when it finished, as if this gesture was the only way to deal with the disgusting feeling everyone had after watching the scene in Charlottesville. Never seen that before after a movie. Agent orange is going down !
Clayton Bigsby!
I love how Trevor change the way he speaks reflecting the way his guests speak. It shows his empathy. Gotta love this man.
A one term precedent that will never happen again!
Another Spike Lee Joint respect
spike Lee is doing his thing what a great interview
Just watched this video , booked the ticket after . Just came back from cinema. Who have not seen this movie, you missing a lot . Great and inspiring.
This movie sounds Amazing. I have to see it.
Very powerful film! So glad it reached millions. I pray it makes way for dialogue
This is a perfect example of an interviewer who is listening and asking the right questions, prob Trevors best interview
Thank you Mr lee✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Wow! If the mood of the movie is anything close to this interview, I'm sold!!!!
I saw this AMAZING film, in a theatre full of old white people too.
I laughed.
I cried.
I recognized my privilege.
I'm SO thankful this movie was made.
What Your privelege would've been in the time the movie took place or now?
pilgrim & privilege 🤔
Thanks for this interview Trevor.
Spike Lee is such a real talented breath of fresh air.
God. Bless. This. Man.
Trevor has a special gift !! 💝
Thank you spike lee keep doing what you do !!
He really didn’t have to add anything, nothing’s changed it’s just the appearance of change.
Spike Lee will always be one of my favorite directors
