I am reading the book now and it’s fantastic! I met you when we interviewed you on our “When Learning is Trauma” series, and I’m so grateful for your work! I’ve learned so much about myself!!! Thank you!
Yes! They didn’t teach it at my school back in 2002. Nor at the psychoanalytic institute where I trained for my certification in psychoanalysis. I would bring in AEDP papers and videos to talk about attachment theory and they’d get annoyed at me saying “It’s not analytic!” Now of course they teach it. But this was 25 years ago.
I would have hoped that the psychoanalytic institute at least mentioned Winnicot. And that the graduate program at least mentioned Bowlby. I am glad that they teach it now. I was fortunate enough to learn about attachment and psychoanalysis back in the 90's. I've enjoyed the interview and plan on reading the book. Thanks! :)
Hi @energiacamino Winnicott yes. Bowlby was not yet considered “analytic” at the analytic institute. I tried to introduce it there and I got told to stop. Now it’s being taught!! Never too late. I hope you like It’s Not Always Depression if you read it :)
