Its imperative mate. Lots of sports and hobbies get highlighted and lots of shows get government help etc.
Unless you are a dedicated bird breeder nobody understands what it's all about. All the hard work, dedication, mishaps and joyful results. We need new novices to take on the challenge and this is an excellent way to keep the hobby going and possibly growing it further whilst sharing our great passion with each other and hopefully new enthusiasts.

@@colinmifsud5039 Let`s hope more novices take up the challenge of keeping Yorkies,otherwise the numbers in the UK will continue to dwindle.There are many reasons why this is the case,and the fancy needs to take a long hard look at itself and start to tackle this problem.Specialist clubs need to encourage it`s members to offer one bird for sale each season,at a reasonable price,to any newcomers. This needs to become a recognised way for people to acquire good birds without paying extortionate prices.

Thanks lovely, I think you can get standard captions on it already - there should be a setting on TH-cam to put them on. I tick to include them when I upload the video. The sound took ages to work on - those Yorkies can't half belt out a song!

Please help my male canary to skin and after a month I will leave the female canary. The male canary feeds the female, the female raises her tail, but the male does nothing
Wow, is it just me or the yorkies are generally louder than fifes? Their voices are amazing! In certain parts of the video I ended up rewinding couple of times and turned on the subtitles because I couldn't hear Steve properly
Yes yorkshire are very loud,, I used to breed them. Couldn't stay in my bird room for to long especially near the breeding season 😁
Yep, believe it not that's with the audio taken through a mixer and the background sound turned down! Glad it didn't spoil the show though

What a brilliant episode.As someone who`s just returned to the world of showing Yorkshire canaries,one of the major stumbling blocks has been trying to acquire good quality birds to breed from.The astronomical price a lot of the top fanciers want for their birds is,in my opinion the main reason why many prospective newcomers to the fancy are put off from keeping Yorkshires and go on to buy other cheaper canaries.This has to change,and the top blokes need to make some of their birds readily available and at a reasonable price,otherwise the numbers joining the fancy will continue to fall in the UK.

A question? Which food or vegetable helps fat/overweight hen canary to lose weight quickly? Thank you kindly
I wouldn't worry too much about the vegetables - too much vegetables can give the birds loose droppings. Instead I'd look at the seed you're feeding them. |If the birds are in flights with big seed hoppers certain birds will overfeed themselves. Cut down to a plain mix removing the fatty seeds like rape and hemp. Week or two it should be fine
I realize it has been a crazy year, so we won't hold you to your promise to visit Bob and Steve's sheds SOON..... BUT, hopefully someday, you will be able to give us an update on the Yorkie Supreme team.

Love the episodes, But we never know where to get such amazing birds from? You can’t get anything amazing from local shops or online.
My advice would be to contact the breeders direct, most if not all have Facebook pages. Best of luck

are those aviaries/cages are big enough for them to be happy and healthy for long term?
Really good question, the video was filmed during the breeding season and, often, during these times birds are housed in their breeding cages. Throughout the rest of the year they are often housed in much larger flight cages. It's also worth noting that the birds in the video are a domesticated canary, that has been "created" over centuries by selective breeding (not unlike domesticated dogs and cats). No Maarten, I did ask Bob and Steve about this they chose not to ring them

@@maartenveekens5440 Many different varieties of Canary in the UK are not rung at all, some Individuals chose to ring their birds with split rings that doesn't contain a breeder code, others (myself included) will use IOA rings that do have a breeder code and close ring birds in the nest. Even that is no guarantee of where the bird was bred.
